- The lightweight/SL eBike category is one of the hottest growing areas in the EMTB world. The combination of power to make getting up hills easier while reducing the overall bike weight to help make getting down them more fun is an enticing prospect. Eurobike 2023 had many of these on show, so Steve and Adam tracked down some of the best examples!

👌Really interesting, these many new SL bikes😊
2:51 please don’t touch😜
Pivot Shuttle SL all day everyday. Change my mind
I'm surprised that none offer a way to hold/store an additional 360w/410w directly on the frame.
I'd rather have it securely mounted on my bike as opposed to a backpack
When will we be able to see a Bosch SX motor on a bike we can buy?
There wasn’t much detail about the batteries or software. Removal vs non removable, battery density’s, modular…. I was left wanting to know more.
Also well worth mentioning compatibility with other features, for example Freeshift is only compatible with EP8 / EP6 motors does that impact purchasing decision, TQ silent vs noise, etc..
densities vs density's
Given the insane cost of these bikes, it's long overdue that security features were standard. Tracking tags, keyswitches, something to stop your £5k+ bike just being carried off.
There is about 10 different lithium battery chemistry and you don't mention anything
You left out the Karbon PowerLine SL from your episode 278!
Half the price of almost every bike there, the Giant Trance x Advanced e+ elite. I expect a lot more from these other brands if I am spending 2x the price.
what's the weight of the Gianttrance x adv e+elite?
@@SuperDodoe Elite 0 13k$€ for 19kg, definitely not the best price/weight ratio, but you have 85nm of torque...
Is the Rotwild RE375 an old Version? They have the old EP8 Motor inside?
The battery is just as important as the motor and you don't mention anything about the battery it's a battery lol😊
which one is the best price/weight ratio ? I see 15K$ bike with 17kg but130mm travel and also 7k$ bike with 19kg with 150/160mm...
For example i d like to find a bike over or equal 150mm travel front under 19.6kg with a removable battery for bike-park usage ?
THOMUS Lightrider ultimate..... where do I source this Beauty, I'm here in Canada and in the WEST, close to BC....
How quickly do the motors overheat and slow down from thermal limit
They dont overheat.....
If like the ability to have 400 for local riding, and a spare 400 in the pack for long distance. Quick trailside swap and away!
The lowest weight pivot shuttle is definatly not anywhere near the price point you mentioned.. try adding on a further 2.5/3k . :)
Is the Kenevo SL a Gen2?
Looks like a list of all lightweight emtb's.
02:41 "Please do not touch"
02:50 😮
Hi and thanks, but no, it startet with Focus Jam SL, not Transistiion Relay as far as i know. Isn`t it. Cheers Guys
Have orbea released 2024 rise??
What are the discharge rates what is the battery chemistry who makes the battery cells it's really quite simple
panasonic cells or go home
Punctuation, quite simple.
How do you choose😂
You don't mention battery chemistry or battery cell make ......look it's got a battery...... lol made by who with what chemistry
Agree. Is lithium sodium battery tech coming to make e-bikes more affordable?
Strapped a 1.5k euro lift-mtb kit to my carbon 160mm bike....19.5kg with 500wh. Saving my cash for a pinion mgu
Nothing about Merida one forty eBike?
light weight full powered with a range 100 miles in turbo that will be the future the only question is how far in the future??
100 miles? HAHA
@@benoc9966 just remember you said that because it will be funny when it happens🤣
now i only need to win the jackpot in lottery... *sigh*
No Levo SL??
I would take a new Levo SL above any of those. Strange omission
It was at the very end with the kenevo sl as well.
I have it and it needs to be modified to reach 35lb .. im at 40lb with stock build
Lighter safer cheaper batteries but who wouldn't want to light weight ebike.
Best bike???….definitely my bike😊
I love mtbing and have done for decades, but I've yet to see good 'VALUE' EMTB...They all cost WAY too much...FFS you could buy a proper SuperSports Motorbike for the money ...Madness...I do like that Nicolai Saturn though....But I also like Ferrari's...and won't be getting one of them anytime soon niether....Ha !!!
considering most entry level MTB's are around 3k.. you can get a brand new EMTB for 5k. Which falls inline with an entry level enduro bike. They aren't all that expensive. They are if you want it blinged out though with factory suspension etc.. You can't get away from the cost of parts...
You guys sound like you didn't want to waste your time talking about non full power e-mtbs. Your standard was a mid range torque, lightweight bike made lighter. Then you immediately start making comparisons to sub 20 kilo full power bikes. I still like the video😅.
E-bike interest is increasing. Now we just hope that the authorities understand that an e-bike does no more damage to nature than a normal bicycle. it's the wet conditions of all kinds of trail activities that wear out the trails ... Not specifically e-bikes which are banned and only can be used in certain areas where I live ... 😢
just ignore them... fat guy on a normal MTB is doing more dmg to the trail
Solid state batteries aren't far off, double density.
Why I'm holding off buying an ebike for now...the tech is getting better by leaps and bounds quickly...
What’s the point in having the same shimano motor, same weight and size, in 60 or 85 Nm… it’s just to save some battery…
2:40
...
Sure no problem 2:50
Giant E Trance elite all day. Full power and light weight.
Only €14.995 €11.00 for a ktm
Worth every penny i think not i could buy a Yamaha mt10 for that forget about newton meters 160 bhp hold on very tight 😂 this is like a lot of hobbies if you got the money take you pick unfortunately most people haven't
Pivot shuttle sl is the best
Lithium batterys cost about 100$ a kWh to make why are these ebikes too expensive The dentist don't realise how cheap lithium batteries are to make😊
maybe your cheap chyna firebombs
The cost so much because the dentists keep paying for them.
put all the batteries in a backpack (damn the tubular size issues and get creative) and you always ride with solar panels velcroid onto the fabric
@@benoc9966 they put the best lithium ion battery in these bikes and they cost a lot for cells that output way more than cheaper ones without building to much heat.. if you want a cheap battery you can but a cheap e bike
More of the same. What happened to Gates carbon drives and Pinion and other internally geared systems. Its pretty much the same tech, grossly overpriced.
dont see the point in the lightweight emtb at the moment until they get more powerfull motor and bigger batts and then manage to get them sub 19kg then it may be worth considering
Get a full fat bike and forget about the obsession of a lightweight bike. Power is king, weight is actually pretty irrelevant if you know how to ride them...
Blablabla, all i heard is Bosch SX, 400wh batteries and "boutique" ebikes with 2 gears lol. 10k euro+ overpriced underpowered crap. Unless you live in a bubble, save your hard earned cash and buy a Pinion Mgu belt drive bike when it goes on sale later this year, the only real improvement on world of ebikes this year.
no thanks, bought the scott lumen, best bike ever.
full fat or go home
I assume you've tried it? Review?
SCOTLAND IS THE BEST BIKE
That's a brand?
If they can't be bothered putting a set of pedals on their bikes they are trying to sell I don't think I would be putting my faith in them for any exceptional performance 🤔
Shows how little you know about the bike industry.
ALL mtb's for the last 15 years haven't come with peddles as peddles are very subjective. Even from something as simple as flats and clippless people are 50/50 so why sell a bike with peddles when they'll be changed anyway
@@willyd-adv Gees I only bought one 2 years ago and it came with pedals. They are sort of an important part.
I understand people want to upgrade but with your logic a bicycle wouldn't come with a seat or tyres either. If selling something you believe in go to the effort of presenting it as a complete package that's good to go, especially when charging a high price. Happy mountain biking 🙂
@@Chris-gk1vr bar the very cheap end of MTB's I've never seen a bike for sale with peddles and I've ran 7 shops in 5 countries.
That's cool yours came with them but that very VERY rare
Getting boring now theses lightweight bikes just don’t get it twice the price for half the range and power someone’s havein a laugh
They all have suspension. I don’t want suspension. It’s heavy and I don’t need it !
Way overpriced e-bikes…. Is there anything “lightweight” in the below 5k dollar mark? 🤔🙄
Embn just keep pushing adverts for certain makes, are anal about the most expensive gear to buy, dont get drawn in guys, buy what you can afford and have fun, this site just cracks me up 😂
In fairness to the guys at EMBN this was a video following their time at Eurobike where all the latest cutting edge tech is unveiled. However, I do agree that there should be videos with real world comparisons. I’ve just picked up an Orbea Rise M10 2023 for £1,200 under list price, had the bike been full price I would have gone for a Specialized Levo SL. I’d like to see more videos that aren’t Canyon ads, focused around best buys and good value (not cheapest either).
Put a space after the commas.
