I was in the old southern stand. In fact we appear on screen after Monkey's goal in the last quarter and even if it hadn't been up for a demo after the game, they'd have had to spend a fortune replacing the rows of broken seats. There were so many of us "dancing" on them during the last quarter and during the victory lap that the metal legs were just snapping off at ground level. Our row gave way just as the players got in front of us with the cup but none of us were minding a bit by that stage. :-)

Apart from the draw in the Q final Collingwood won by an average margin of about nine goals coming into the finals, last part of the season & finals the Pies were superior.

Essendon the best side in the comp all year (and beat Collingwood both times in H&A) but things fell into place after the QF draw which saw Essendon play 1 game over 3 weeks - stuffed all their momentum up. Also you felt the Bombers after 15 minutes was thinking Salmon would kick 10 and do it all for them and they just kept bombing it long to him.

That qualifying final draw fucked everything up for essendon. We were clearly the best team all year but for some reason sheedy rested 6 of our best players in rd 22 and because we finished minor premier, we went straight into the 2nd semi. So alot of our better players had 3 weeks off and it showed. Collingwood smashed us in the semi and took alot of confidence from it. Yet our 9 goal win over the eagles didnt do the same for us. We were all over collingwood in the first qtr yet the brawl at qtr shifted our focus and in the 2nd qtr, i think we gave 3 or 4 50m penalties that resulted in collingwood goals and gave the pies all the momentum.

I still think that Shane Kerrison should have got the Norm Smith in this game but don't have problems with Tony Shaw getting it. I think that being a late inclusion he wasn't noticed.
