      That music.....
      Is the same, hypnotic Rockabilly music, that they use in ALL of those Snake-Handling, Poison-Drinking, and Fire-Handling "Churches"!
      Has anybody else ever noticed that?

    It comes from Mark 16:18: "they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." But they don't understand this is not to be taken literally. What is interesting is that this might be one of the only Christian groups in history to take the passage in Marks Gospel literally. lol

    They most certainly did not. To a one, their lives were filled with complication, hardship and deep, personal struggle. It was from this they gained insight and wisdom not through simplicity.

    I think Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Benjamin Banneker, Abraham Lincoln, Michelangelo, Socrates, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, the Buddha and countless other leaders, artists and philosophers would very much beg to differ.

  • @kallistiX1
    @kallistiX1 Před 10 lety +1

    You call me pretentious, then proceed to tell me how life is using some generic cliche that attempts to pass itself off as insight. You call me judgmental, then assume things about me which are false. I believe they call that irony. The danger here is that tolerating stupidity because the stupid happen to be faithful leads to the inevitable conclusion that everything done in the name of faith should be tolerated provided people truly believe.

  • @kallistiX1
    @kallistiX1 Před 10 lety

    Except neither Gandhi nor the Buddha began their lives in privation and the Buddha only wore rags for a time, King and Einstein were both masters as being seen and heard by the media and Socrates did leave his hometown. At thrice by his own admission. What I meant, as did the person who responded to you before, was mental simplicity and being satisfied with simple-minded.

  • @christophermartin8685

  • @christophermartin8685
    @christophermartin8685 Před 10 lety

    You don't think the men in this video have lives filled with complication, hardship, and personal struggle? I was referring mostly to living simple lives by the lack of materialism. Socrates never left his home town, Gandhi did not consume animal flesh and often wore rags--along with the Buddha. King and Einstein were not flamboyant men who had very fine tastes in worldly possessions. That is what I meant.

    No, what you have said is based on your prejudice towards atheists, including that we believe ourselves superior and we are "know-it-all" which is precisely why were wrong. My comments obviously reflect a great deal of respect for the wisest of humans REGARDLESS of their race, nationality or religions. I am sure we can agree pointing out irony isn't pretentious in the face of your bald hypocrisy. And, there is noting more cliche than a christian using "God Bless" as a kiss off to a nonbeliever.
