I remember my grandfather taking me to a meeting like that when I was just a boy. A 6 foot Diamondback bit the preacher behind the ear...he died. They told my Grampa he died because he didn't have enough faith. Grampa said nope, he died because he was stupid enough to stick a diamondback up next to his head. I never forgot, and we never went back.

Assuming there actually is Strychnine in that drink. 94% of Strychnine is cleared by the body within 24 hrs its high clearance along with an LD50 for a typical adult is 100mg Strychnine / Kg body weight via ingestion. The average male body weight in kg is 60. Doing the math that is basically a bottle of aspirin worth of Strychnine he'd have to ingest all at once. Strychnine is also not soluble in water so I'm guessing that's some pretty strong shine causing urination and additional clearing.

In about 2005, I had great uncle that got bit by a snake while handling one in church. He made it through. He had to push his luck ever further by drinking strychnine. When my grandmother called to tell me he had died and why, all I could do is laugh. God gave us a brain.

Just food for thought: the Bible doesn't say you *have to* use poisonous snakes, and "any deadly thing" could easily apply to what a lot of people use recreationally every day.
But, it says that the drinking of the deadly poison shall NOT hurt them. The drinking of that solution in this video is not convincing. I have no idea how dilute that is. Just make it simple. Have a "believer" drink 6 ounces of unleaded gasoline (undiluted) from Amoco, and show me that the drinker is NOT harmed.

I have read the bible in it's entirety twice and believe some is literal and some is not. Drinking strychnine is taking things a bit too literal; he did mention there had already been 2 "brothers" that had drank the strychnine before and died! Why endanger your life to "prove" your faith. Do good works, that's what's important; do unto others as you would have done unto you, that's the one I try to live by. I'm not a religious nut, but I believe these guys probably are.

Mark 16:17-18, Jesus is speaking to the apostles here. He is telling them the great commission which is to go out and spread the gospel to all.
The apostles were given special abilities by the Lord such as the ability to heal the sick, and perform other miracles.
The reason God gave the apostles the ability to perform such miracles was so the apostles could show they truly were from God.
Without God the apostles alone could not perform those miracles.
If you read in the next two verses after vs. 18,
It says, “So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.”
In the last verse it says the Lord working through them ( the apostles) conforming the word through the accompanying signs.
Those signs are the ones listed in verse 17 and 18.
We now days do not have the ability to perform such miracles like the apostles did because God only gave the apostles that ability.
Mark 16:17-18 is being taken out of context in this video. Reading the verses before and after 17-18 proves that.

As they're preaching the gospel to every creature, yes, they will be speaking in new tongues, new languages. I think of the tremendous translation work of the Wycliffe Society today, casting out devils. That's a task that the missionaries find quite common. It isn't as common here in the United States because of the powerful Christian influence. But you get into some of the foreign lands, and demonology becomes a very heavy issue.

IMO it's a competition between believers of snake slinging and Scientology on who's the nuttiest. It's all how you interpret the bible. Personally I have no time for it. I live my life the way I believe is right. Not how a book tells me to. It works for me, but I realize it doesn't work for all.

Hey I am from and still live in Appalachia. The people shown here although do not represent the other 99.99% of us I would never laugh at or make fun of. I would never attempt anything like this but have done some pretty crazy things while intoxicated. They have their own thing and it’s none of my business as it is for most here. We never have ridiculed the believers in this clip due to our fear of God. I would suggest that be your way of approaching something you don’t understand and besides no one really cares what you geniuses think anyway.
