Exile is a lyrical masterpiece sung to perfection. 10/10 no notes. It's damn near impossible to have a favorite Taylor song but Exile gets me every time.
It's up there every time I try to make a list!
Agreed. I get chills every time the bridge kicks in with that first "So step right out". Such a great song.
I've listened to exile hundreds of times at this point, and the vocals still give me chills and make me tear up from time to time.
@@mayab3370 same!!
Def my favorite.
gotta see the long pond studios version see the musicians and Taylor playing and singing
I second the Long Pond Studios version.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
It's even better
This song should hv won the Best Duet in Grammys 🥲 so, so hauntingly beautiful
I love this song as well and listen to it daily.
I also listened to Lover live on SNL...wow
Newer swiftie here...long time Chiefs/Kelce fan ❤💛
100%
Definitely. Lady Gaga and Ariana won yes it was well deserved but Exile was the one that deserved in terms of a whole concept, vocal, instrumentation every single damn thing! One of the most beautiful duets ever recorded imho
Once again you are King of interpreting the lyrics of a Taylor song. I enjoyed every second of your reaction. Thank you. I love the song "Exile". Taylor and Justin Vernon are magical when they collab.
Thank you!!!
I love watching people listen to and appreciate Taylor’s craft. She’s so much more than the media gives her credit for as a musician and a person.
Seeing how thoroughly and articulately men can be in their appreciation of her music and messaging gives me hope for love in these trying times.
This is why women say being a Taylor supporter is a green flag, it shows your emotional maturity and your efficacy in communicating.
If a man is playing you for stupid in basic communication and mutual respect, take the sign and bounce. Men are not dumb nor incapable of being nurturing partners. The gorgeous man in this video is a sign that good men are out there and they’re capable of love.
🙌🏽🙌🏽🥹
It’s literally 2 perspectives of why a relationship ended and what the other did wrong and it’s just a beautiful argument 😭🤣 it encapsulates the feelings from You’re Losing Me and tolerate it like her story telling is unreal. It’s crazy she connects sooo many songs but can be interpreted as different relationships as well. It’s genius.
Love it!!!
Long pond studio sessions with them together is elite. They sounded gorgeous together. Even if you just listen for you. Long pond studio sessions as a whole are an elite way to best folklore.
This is the song that made be a Swiftie! Oh still makes me cry!
understandable!
This song is KILLER, isn't it? Just breaks my heart. I'm enjoying the way you parse these out.
That bridge is something to behold lol
"holding all this love out here in the hall" is heart wrenching.
“I think I’ve seen this film before, and didn’t like the ending.” Me to any movies that I watched and expect a good ending, I always got the opposite instead.
😂😂
I love this song so much, it so well captures two people seeing the relationship so differently. Great reaction!
Loved that bridge
I have seen a lot of these reviews on this song, and I really like how you interpreted this. You actually listened to the story. Thank you
@@susanr4663 thank you!! It's the story she's able to tell through her lyrics that adds to her mystic for me
Taylor’s pen game is legendary
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I’ve never seen someone pick up on so much with one go at the song. Incredible reaction & look forward to more!
Initially, you seemed tentative, but when Taylor came in with the call and response, there was a big change in your demeanor, I could tell you were enjoying it immensely, with all your soul. You are definitely part of the fandom.
Shh you don’t get to make assumptions about other people’s experiences. Seriously, YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN
Lol that bridge got to me
@@judeless77lol what 💀 bro chill
@@judeless77 If you can't read the difference in that VERY OBVIOUS body language, some lessons or study into body language would be of benefit to you.
I love how much you understand, and how you’re starting to make the connections between different songs. You’re becoming a great Swiftie :)
Lmao thank you!!
Exile is one of my all time favorites of hers. Their voices together are perfection. And this song is just devastating.
You should totally watch the Long Pond Studio sessions videos for the folklore songs. Each song is performed live and has a discussion with Taylor and Jack about writing the songs.
I really appreciate that you understand that when Taylor says “you never learned to read my mind” and “I gave so many signs” it doesn’t mean that she’s playing games, and only ever dropping hints, and not being clear about how she feels. A lot of people who react say that you shouldn’t expect someone to read your mind or understand your signs… but it’s not as easy as that. Like you said, he never took the time to learn her, and that makes a world of difference in a relationship. Because yes we should be clear about how we feel and not play games, but relationships are so nuanced and tricky to navigate, and we as humans put out feelers before jumping in abruptly to hard topics. Also, the narrator might be realizing retrospectively how many signs there were that the relationship was failing. We’re not always conscientious of changes as they are happening, but if the mood and daily vibe of their interactions started to shift in the relationship he should have started to catch on like she did that something wasn’t working. I just hate when other reactors act like girls shouldn’t expect people to read your mind.. that’s only a figure of speech that really means you haven’t taken the time to learn my intricacies.
This song is beyond gorgeous. Breaks me every time.
I gave so many signs!
You broke this song down so well I'm just going to hand this video over to any non-Swiftie who ever asks "what's the big deal about Taylor Swift anyway?"
Please do!
Okay…your interpretation & analysis of not just this song but how you linked this, Tolerate It & You’re Losing Me just made me a subscriber. You’re right, they’re a trio of the breakdown of a relationship.
Sorry about TikTok 😢
I love her writing style leans towards us being able to connect invisible dots to different songs of hers! And tiktok is still up they just had blocked my one video lol
So it's really good lyric analysis...and if all of this were fictional, there would be definite parallels ...but it isn't true to how Taylor's long time actual relationship with Joe Alwyn went down.
The context you don't have is that the first verse's melody and most of the lyrics were written by that ex, Joe Alwyn (pen name is William Bowery on this album and on some Evermore songs).
Tolerate It is very specifically about an older man exploiting and ignoring the love of a much younger and more foolish woman. Joe is just over a year younger than Taylor. So Tolerate It definitely isn't about her relationship with Joe. Most likely about her traumatic relationship with pervy mcperv John Mayer who was 32 when he dated 19 year old Swift... But Taylor herself has said quite clearly said that Tolerate It was inspired by the novel Rebecca. So the themes do track, but no other song in the 6 years written about Joe other than the very last one, You're Losing Me, has ever suggested that he didn't care enough about her.
If anything, we get a strong idea that Joe was dealing with serious depression and wasn't able to realise in time that Taylor experienced this as him not fighting for her....which isn't exactly fair.
All of this placing the blame on one person in a relationship also becomes really problematic where there are other songs in their relationship where Taylor is CLEARLY admitting that she basically broke Joe's heart not even 2 years into the relationship. The song is called Afterglow on the album Lover.
The toxic Swifties (not all Swifties, just the radical ones) very conveniently cherry pick songs and lyrics that paint Taylor as perfect. Which is extremely depressing, because I would rather admire a human being than a delusional Disney princess.
You're Losing Me is incredibly heartbreaking... But it's one fragment of a complicated story. It isn't in any way, shape or form the whole story.
Sorry for the essay, but it really takes away from the depth of her music when long time, unrealistic Swifties try to force false narratives into new fans.
I respect Swift because she isn't perfect and she is grown up enough to admit some really unpleasant truths about herself. While still managing to be an incredible artist with integrity and overwhelmingly a person anyone can be able to admire.
I hope you aren't trying to argue Exile or Tolerate It are about Taylor and Joe... Thematically, they are definitely all linked. But it has almost nothing to do with that actual relationship...
you should do the long pond sessions of exile so goood...
you swifted out..... happens to most of us.
Is that what's it called?? Lol
For me, her song evermore is her BEST song ever
Evermore is so good
I love your Taylor reactions!! Keep them coming!!! ❤🎉❤
Love your reaction. I’m a swiftie since debut album. That smile when Tay comes in lol, there’s just something about her voice, she captures the human emotions so well unlike any other. Say safe and blessings
I just subscribed because you are infectious with your joy.
Lol thank you!
I hope one day Taylor sees your reactions... beautiful!! #PassionateUnderstandings ❤🎉❤
I hope so too! I would faint lol
What is so ironic is that her and Joe wrote this song together along with Justin Vernon and now it applies to her & Joe.
Great reaction
Thank you!
This is one of my favorite ts song 🎵
Your interpretation of this song was excellent and so on point. I love this song. Great reaction.
I think it's a little too harsh on the one side. He's the one who's talking about crying. I love the back and forth, but for me, I think of how the construction of it is showing as well as telling us, just how much miscommunication there was. In the way that sometimes the lines are overlapping- like in a conversation or argument when you interrupt each other, while you try to get your point out first. The silent treatment and unrealistic "you never learned to read my mind". Nobody can read another person's mind. I see this section of the song as being actually a silent conversation, because of where they are- out in town. I can really picture 😉 a music video to this, where it is just evening, people out and about, restaurants and bars etc, honing in on the characters with the singing as voice-over, and switching to each one during the verses, and with the bridge especially, flitting from one to another, in really tight shots, and the facial expressions, eye movements are just a fraction off each other- mirroring miscommunication and showing that a relationship is about 2 people. It may not be anyone's fault, or a relationship between two people who speak completely different (and not necessarily "bad"), love language. Just my interpretation.
Subscribed! You have another Swiftie!! Thanks for a great reaction. ❤
Awesome! Thank you!
👍 I have missed your Taylor reactions! Welcome back!

Followed from TikTok ;). Love your reactions and seeing you respond so beautifully to her lyrics! This is one of my favs!!
Thank you so much!!
"Exile" and "your losing me" I heard at the perfect time ,as I was going through the same damn thing. She's a masterclass at expressing human emotions, somehow simple yet complex
Exactly

Loved your reaction! You know your shit and the Swifties are always here for it. Please react to Cowboy Like Me next. It’s lyrically superior and Mumford does the backing vocals. It’s a silent favourite amongst the Swifties.

Her vocal range in this one is off the charts. Two octave range with a few G5s around 2:46

Just FYI, UMG is arguing with tik tok over music rights. That includes Taylor. It should be fine on youtube, but anything of hers over there will be blocked.
She wanted things to work out between them. She gave so many signs that things were going down a bad road, but he never saw the signs.
The end of the movie wasn't the ending she wanted, so she left the theater out the side door.
🥺🥺🥺
@@ToneyReactions as a newer Swiftie I have given up trying to pick a favorite song, but this is completely near the top.
Her and Justin (from the band Bon Iver) have an amazing video of this song on The Long Pond Sessions. You don't need to do a reaction, but it is definitely worth watching.
It was filmed during Covid, so they were in 2 separate locations. Unbelievable.
@@TjC_3124 my top favorites right now are "right where you left me" and "you're losing me"
@@ToneyReactions nice! Will check them out. Last night I watched her performance of Lover on SNL. Well worth the teary eyes 🥺
She wrote this song 1 year before she left him!
Thanks for another great reaction video. You've reacted to a few folklore songs but, so far as I can see, you have not yet done one from the Long Pond Sessions. In the comments below, you will notice people begging for the Long Pond movie version, and there is a reason for that. Here is a song you have not yet reacted to from folklore, and it is the long pond version. I hope you will check it out. (At some point you should simply watch the entire movie, just for your own sake.)

So ol' boy heard these songs and was like nah we're cool. What? Idk if she said they were fiction you needed to be paying attention. Thankfully she way off that now.
😂😂😂😂
I knew Toney, our resident Swiftie, would totally understand this song!! Well done and explained. Love it. You didn’t seem too interested until you heard her… then you were IN!! 🎊🥰👏🏻🫶🏼
I’m so sorry to hear about TikTok!! They waited until you had 1/2M views before blocking you?? That’s just rude. You’re a true Swiftie and we have your back. Hugs.
This was also my first time hearing Bon Iver so I was getting used to his voice and trying to really listen lol . But I'm glad you love it!
@@ToneyReactions You may already know, but the name of the band is Bon Iver. The singer in this collab is their lead singer named Justin Vernon. Taylor was a big fan of theirs and was thrilled that he agreed to collab with her. They did other songs together afterwards.
