This song has always been among my favorite skate punk classics. When I'd feel like, my parents didn't get what I was doing, especially the drug one. Full disclosure. I've never been on drugs in my life outside of what has been prescribed to me to fix when I was sick, and getting accused of being on drugs when in reality I was. . . Depressed, when I was staring at walls mad or upset about the shit in my life. And having my parents think I was fuckin around doing bad things. That hurt. Ended up with this music always in my head cuz it made me wanna rebel against the parents who might have known better sometimes but didn't know everything themselves. Hell they couldn't pick up on the dysphoria I felt either.
You are not alone, parents never saw how bad I felt, yet they also were in manyinstances also the source of me feeling like shit, and when I lashed out they gave me shit for more or less acting just like them.
I kind of laugh at this song because it is funny in a dark way.
Stay safe and take care now!
Ice-T ( Body Count) did a nice version of this song a year or two ago. Worth another spin
Do you know how much blood is in the human body.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah he did a great job with that lmao
Man I got to hear that
I just want my password!
Me: "I wonder if Vin happen to be drinking his Pepsi during this song."
*Sees Vin with a Pepsi*
Me: *Grins*
😂
I’m not crazy! You saw it too!
Skate Punk perfection.
Its weird seeing them labeled as "Skate Punk". I'm not saying its wrong but they were Hardcore Punk in the early 80s scene so from 80-83 maybe 84. Suicidal Tendencies was and is Hardcore Punk. Skate punk was a subgenre from the early to late 90s. From 84 to the current their sound is more Thrash Metal.
@@davidortega6724 you got a point here, but ST were on many Skaterock Compilations and had their Logo on many Skate Decks... i grew up with 'em.. always had the skateboard thingy in mind by listening to 'em
"Subliminal" Vin constantly references Suicidal Tendencies songs without knowing.
Love Subliminal!!! And Possessed!
They're fucking with me!
Subliminally!
GTA V ?
@@santiagoocampovargas1641 yeah it was on Channel X, a lot of the songs they put on that radio weren’t the best ones from the bands, like Everything Turns Grey is better than Bored of You, Rock House by Circle Jerks, but they really chose some great ones like Subliminal, My War, Descendents
That big grin on Vin's face through the second verse and chorus is exactly why I love Suicidal Tendencies. You cant help but get into their songs, even when the subject matter is extremely dark.
One day tall need to check out "I Saw Your Mommy" by ST
That's gonna be a bad reaction. They reacted to Slayer's Dead Skin Mask and Sori was disgusted. Idk if they'll even be able to get through I Saw Your Mommy without Sori puking.
I'm a teenager and I love to watch stuff like this because it keeps me self aware and hopefully later when I start a family I can sort of do better than some through unorthodox research I guess hearing stories and stuff beyond pure psyche
Ok woo!! I see you
All he wanted was a Bepis.
Just one Betsy!
Back then it was rare to be a guitar playing black dude into metal. I was so pumped to find out that on top of being a kick ass band their lead guitarist was black. Rocky George!!!!
And most people didn't care. Their music is what was important about the band, and that music kicked ass!
Grant Estes was the guitar player on this album. White Hispanic guy.
@@DarkAngel-ki3co I said that because it mattered to me, as a black 14 y/o in the Midwest who was into metal and guitar back in '80s. The scene wasn't always welcoming, I promise you that.
@@arthowardatnight The iconic images of ST to anyone into them from the 80's are Mike Muir in his cholo gear, and Rocky George's adeo popping out of a striped Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap. And then maybe some skateboarding and an upturned cap with ST on the bottom of the bill. I don't know of anyone wondering who the original guitarist was on the recording of 'Institutionalized'. And I being up Rocky because was an inspiration to me. Hd let me feel like someone who looked like me could be accepted in the scene, no matter how hard some others thought different. It's not about disrespecting anyone.
Definitely check out the Body Count version of this song!
The edits here are crisper than a cold, refreshing can of Pepsi, Sori! Excellent work!!! 🥰💙
I knew Vin would get a kick out of this song. I feel punk rock is definitely his genre, and it will be great to see more of it on the channel. This is the conscious kind of story that reaches a ton of people in a profound way. It's funny, but immensely effective. Social issues are easy to tackle when you've got great humor backing the messages, and a lot of raw attitude. This song isn't really all that juvenile when looking at the great scope of adults believing they're the center of their own world, as much as teenagers. We all want our Pepsi, and the world isn't always willing to give it to us after we've been deprived. We've gotta get it for ourselves sometimes. Our relief comes from a lot of things, and rebellion is a means of adapting to the lack of relief. Finding our peace.
Suicidal Tendencies is a fantastic band. Very talented musicians you wouldn't expect here. I'm glad you appreciate the structure and the lyricism. I hope this is a band you'll come back around to in the future. Punk will always be a great detour. Keep up the great work! 💙
I remember my sister, who never listens to this type of music, came across this song and had to show it to me. Suicidal Tendencies, what a trip!
I love this song, this song was featured on the first iron man movie from 2008! It’s quite amazing and very deep.
Easily one of the top 3 suicidal songs. Love the body count, cover version

I Saw Your Mommy...
is my favorite and then this one.
Just saw this band last saturday here in honolulu. The show was absolutely fierce.
One of the best SoCal Punk songs ever.
One of the greatest songs of that era. ST mad a lot of great songs
Classic album. Just about every metal head loves Suicidal and just about every metal musician played in that band.
Song has always been a strong 19 for me
Love Suicidal Tendencies!!!!
This one is a classic! Even non punks and non metalheads know this song.
The scariest drugs are those that have you sleepwalking, doing things in a trance, like those powerful sleep medications like Ambien. No way. You can be driving a motor vehicle in a trance, eating a meal, god knows what else! That's almost up there with a pcp blackout. Whenever you relinquish all control, and yet you're body is still out there on autopilot, it's scary as hell.
Vince's like that kid that boxes with Freddy in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3&4, lol.
I can't really speak for Harlem, but NYC is still grimey in 2021. It's all good, until something kicks off. You never really know. But there are definitely some great, nice parts of Harlem. But anyone can move around from any block to the next, so you never know with all the mental illness flooding the streets, not to mention the youth gangs that are armed, but don't yet have fully formed, matured minds.
Well said my friend.
Too bad you didn't do the official video. You'd have gotten to see a very young Tom Araya make a cameo. 🤘🤘
It is a shame, especially since it wouldnt have been even blocked. Its been reacted to a hundred times with music video and the poster isnt even the record label lol Im assuming Frontier Records still owns it? They dont even record new records and just rerelease old punk ones so I bet they are willing to get any publicity they can from the classics they have
That's exactly what I was thinking.😎
Really wish you guys would do more old school punk reviews.
That is why we were clowning you
Edit-now that I listened to your commentary post song
I see that you were not picking up on that
I assumed you knew.....
This day of age, this band is still pretty underrated imo. Kind of like Helmet, big at the time but forgotten over the years.
Personal favourite Suicidal song is 'I'll Hate You Better'.
Benediction-Violation Domain
I love this song and the fact that it was released 40 years ago now. Since you can't play the actual video, I hope you go back and revisit it later.
“all i wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi.
far from suicidal, still i get them tendencies”
-Limp Bizkit
This song is legend, berings me back to my days in uni.
I was at a bar in LA with an ST shirt on and got 86’d for gross intoxication. The security guard was Samoan and put me in a full Nelson. As he escorted me out the door his partner asked, “What did he do?”, to which he responded, “Ah, it’s cool. He just wanted a Pepsi.” I could not even be angry at that point. Well played. 👏👏👏
Instant like!!!
I was waiting for this for ages...
It would be really cool if you did the Ice-T version next.
i grew up with this, they were the most influential bad to me, them and antrax were my staples through jr hgh and high school
my fav tune off the first album was/is i want more
Classic from my childhood. I remember seeing the video for this song on Mtv in '84. The whole album is truly a classic. Thanks for reviewing this song Next you should review 'I saw your mommy' from the same album. :)
Old ass jam that I can relate to. I'm get vicious when I don't have my Pepsi
This is one of the best discussions based on one of the best songs!
You have no idea how stoked to see this review. Grew up with this band love them. Your reactions were great
Limp Bizkit - Stuck
All I wanted was a Pepsi...just 1 Pepsi. Far from suicidal....
@@jhamilton1007 but still I get those tendencies
this editing got me feeling like im on some shit
punk or not classic song one of the best songs ever wrtitten nuff said
I cover this with my band as an intro and we do kinda psych/alternative. I even saw a classic rock band do a version online once.
The lyrics are heavy. People called them a cholo band. When they were starting and they developed into something great.
One of the drummers from my favorite band(psych/prog) The Mars Volta, Thomas Pridgen... He toured as their drummer a while back. Huge change for his style, but they kept him for a while.
You should search up a video of them with him on drums. He’s HUGE! Total beast of a drummer.
Seen these guys a few times. There shows go hard 🤘
Fave song.
All time or this band?
I personally love “you can’t bring me down”.
Some of their other stuff like 'You Can't Bring Me Down' better features Rocky George who is an amazing guitarist
WTF, how did you not hear this song before?
Such a good song and it fits so well in todays "new world"
On Infant Mortality, our rate has actually increased. As of 2019 we had 6.5 per 1,000 infant deaths tied with Qatar with infant deaths. 45 countries perform better at keeping infants alive. Most of the countries that perform better than we do have socialized medicine. Go figure.
Perfect timing on drinking a Pepsi Vin! This song is a MASTERPIECE! The music is awesome, and the lyrics are realistic. Great reaction video!!!
bruh when i saw this man drinking a pepsi i got so excited knowing the pepsi line was coming
You have to do the cover version of this song by Body Count, watching them one after the other is definitely a goood time.
You must hear the cover by Body Count!
You guys need to watch the video.
Enuff said.😎
Suicidal tendencies - hardcore punk/funk/crossover thrash 🌹🤘🤘🤘
Even have had some prog in them 😁
Opeth - Godhead's Lament
Holy shit!! I heard this song on one of the tony hawk games as a kid and had no idea what the song was when it crossed my mind a few years ago and now I finally know what it is thanks to you guys! I never knew it was them. Their ex bass player is in Metallica now. They're killer
The video is hilarious. Possessed to Skate is another great one as well.
Love this song, early Hardcore/Thrash Metal!
The person who made that video had a lot of fun with the Movie Maker text animations huh 😂
I would love to see you guys react to bands like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Misfits, GBH, Discharge, TSOL, Generation X ect
Vin, I wear my red hunting cap backwards because of Holden Caulfield.
Love your videos
Great video
Asking your mom to get you a Pepsi is a power move.
That’s why he got smacked down. Lol. She made him and can destroy him.
Homies had to bust him out of the barred windows with the low rider xD
Caught somewhere in time -iron maiden
to fully understand this song look for the Tipper Gore movement of the 80'
Yeah, great song.
You're making a lot of sence! (again...) Especially about celebrating children's autonomy. I'm not sure, however, if the majority of parents would incorporate that into their home schooling... Don't know about American schoolsystem, but here (Sweden) much emphasis is put on the teachers role of encouraging children's own will, resources and strengths (not all teachers manage to apply, but at least they're taught that's the way to do it). With parents, it's up to their independent knowledge. Anyway, children will always listen to their parents, but with teachers (hopefully) giving some encouraging input, there's something to weigh up when (some - too many) parents are tutoring their children in a disrespectful way.
You make good points
Love your take, you totally got it!
My first tattoo and yet I’m still alive
You know where "free money " comes from, yeah? You see, the government goes out and gets a paper route, runs a lemonade stand......F-ing hell.
Vin and Sori are now recovering scene kids.
who does the editing for these videos? I love it!
*HOW WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT MY BEST INTEREST IS?!?*
Cholo Vato Punk from Venice Beach, Ca. we loved them up here in the Bay. Rocky F**KIN George
Ice T did a cover of Institutionalize with his heavy metal band Body Court...... doing a resction to that too seriously recommended
All I wanted was a Pepsi...
You can get one from Vin for $125.00
@@darrellwood3913 He got that crazy hookup!
Them: “Have a Coke and a Smile!”
Intellectuals: “All I want is a Pepsi!”
Mike Muir recorded this when he was 14.
Ice T did an updated version of this song. Both versions are great, but if you liked this check out the Ice T version
Y’all it’s textbook 80’s thrash!
Senses Fail covered this 😄
Man I love this band
Check out Suicidal Maniac off the same album
You guys have internet problems? First time I've heard and will be checking out more
Please do the Body Count version of this song!

You should check out "Don't call me Dude " by Scatterbrain. Sort of like this , but more insane 😜
You should take a look at Lifelover - Myspys
Lol. Suicidal Tendencies is a lot of fun to listen to. Very under appreciated band. Try as also. Trip at the Brain. How can I laugh tomorrow when I can’t even smile today. Possessed to Skate. Lovely. The Suicidal theme song. There are so many fun songs ST made. People always hated them because they thought ST encouraged suicide but the opposite is true. They are a band designed for the kids that have suicidal tendencies. Listen to them. Have some fun. Get out some aggression. And forget about all your problems. Love ST. They make me want to grab a skateboard and a Pepsi.
Imminence -Temptation
My mom has a PhD in psychology but growing up I learned to lie really well cause she was always trying to psychoanalyze me
My mom was a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a psychologist. I was a hardcore skate punk… she was always psychologying us up
Love me some Suicidal's
I know it's a couple of years after the review but I'm sure you'd like "two wrongs don't make a right "( but they make me feel a whole lot better)😂 👍
Lol vin's drinking a pepsi
Mike Muir was like 19 when he wrote this song.
Now do Pledge your allegiance on the How will I laugh tomorrow when I can't even smile today album.
You really need to listen to their song "I Saw Your Mommy"
Robert Trujillo from Metallica played in Suicidal Tendencies from 1989-1995. He was also a member of singer Mike Muir's band Infectious Grooves. You should check out their numbers Violent & Funky and Therapy. Former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo has been a member of ST since 2016
