    Thank you so much for the tutorial. It's extremely helpful. Question, I have made my passport picture 35mm x 45mm and moved it onto the 5x7 template but the passport picture is too large and i can only fit one row and not three rows like yours. Can you tell me how to fix this? Thank you.

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 6 lety

      Hi Ash, the first thing I would check is the image sizes. Open the passport image in Photoshop and go to 'image' at the top of the frame, from the drop down click 'image size' this will confirm that the passport is 35mmx45mm. If that is correct open up your 5x7 template and go to 'image size' again. This needs to be 5 inches x 7 inches or 12.7cm x17.78cm. I may have confused the issue by using both mm and inches! I only did this as 5x7 inches is a standard print size. Hopefully this helps, good luck, have fun, Dave.

      Thank you so much for your reply. I have solved the problem. My passport photo was at the correct ratio of 35:45 but the image was too large so I created a new imagine at exactly 35mm x 45mm and dropped my over-sized passport picture onto it to resize the image. It now fits a 5x7 nicely like in your tutorial.
      Thanks again for such a helpful video. I'm very new to Photoshop and you did a great job explaining the process.

    I wonder how you achieved such alight shadow under chin? Would like to have seen exact lighting set up...height; angle; distance from model. Thank you

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 6 lety

      Hi David, for the lighting I had the umbrella softbox just above head height and almost square on to give a even light on the face. If I had been shooting more of a portrait image I would have placed the light more at 45 degrees to put a shadow on one side of the face. The light was about 3 feet from the subject. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching, have fun, Dave.

      The Photo Show Hi Dave, yes that makes sense, thank you. I did a passport shoot at the weekend and your video on nine on a page was most useful. I had three subjects, stuck them all on one row then copied and pasted, as you did. Very useful

    hi,Dave,I was saved my 2 passport photo in my USB. I want to go to boots get print out later,how can I use boots shop to print out from USB ?and which size good for apply UK visas?5×7 or 6×4 ??Thank you for teaching. :)

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 6 lety

      Hi Polly, if you have created a 5x7, with multiple passport photos on it, as in the video, you will need to have a 5x7 print to make sure that the passport images are the correct size. Smaller or larger prints will result in the wrong passport photo size. If your local Boots has a staff member in the photo area, give them the USB and they can upload it, if you are using the self service machines they will have a USB slot and you can navigate to the image on the USB. Have a boarderless print made as that can also affect the sizing. Good luck, I hope it works for you.

    Hi Dave,
    I'm taking passport photos for a friend and he just wants the pictures to print off himself but he doesn't have Photoshop to print it from. Is there another program that he could print the pictures from?

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Adam, it is possible that your friends printing may be able to print specified sizes. They could set it to print the image the same size as your original file for example if you have given them a 5x7 sized file if they set the printer to print as 5x7 the sizes should remain the same. Another option could be Google's Picasa which can be downloaded for free. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching, have fun, Dave.

    I thought this was a pretty good video until I recommended it to a novice. So after a second look I thought I'd give you some feedback that might help you in giving tutorials to beginners. I noticed for the first video you just spoke about light ... what would have helped a beginner would have been a view of your lighting set up. With this video there are no instructions give as to how this is done in Photoshop the is an assumption that the viewer is Photoshop savvy - in which case they probably wouldn't need this video. It would have been better if the selections made in Photoshop were clearly shown. As it is, they are too small and unclear to follow.

    • @ThePhotoShow
      @ThePhotoShow  Před 5 lety

      I do agree with the points made, I would say that with passport photos it is probably not the best thing for a novice to try. There are so many restrictions on size and how the photo is presented that getting something wrong and having it rejected is a possibility. Thank you for watching, have fun, Dave.
