Let me know if you need help with the process of taking your own passport photo, and if you have any questions. Here to help!
I can not thank you enough. Your instructions are very clear, and straightforward. I just created a passport photo for my elderly father, and I am very pleased with the results. Have a wonderful day, Sir.
That’s great! So happy to hear you found the video helpful and that you were able to get a passport photo easily.
I used to use an Epson ET-2550 czcams.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 , an early model of the ink tank style. It worked well, but had one nuisance that drove me up the wall; if you didn't put it in high quality print mode you'd get a streak across the page. I'm happy to say I have yet to see this with this printer. The print quality has been fantastic so far, the set up was super easy. All in all I'm very happy with this printer.
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!! I wanted a helpful video of everything, including how and where to print the photos and you did it- you went straight to the point.
You are very welcome! So happy to hear you found the video helpful!
Thank you so much, great information on taking the PP photos at home.
You are welcome Angelo! Glad it was helpful!
Awesome step by step tutorial. Thanks!
You're welcome Adriana! Glad to hear the video was helpful to you.
Thanks for the help. Just ordered them. One note: had a tough time on my iPhone getting the green lines to fit appropriately. Was able to make it work on my PC.
Glad the video was helpful! I had trouble with it on my iPhone as well. PC is definitely easier.

Best instructions by far. This helped a lot.
Great! Glad you found the video helpful!
DUDE! You rock! My photo came out perfectly and this was so easy to follow! I attempted other ways to get my photo to print on 4 x 6 gloss paper but the size was never right! I’m expediting my passport tomorrow in DC for a 14 day cruise on Sunday and this saved me time outside of my home to prepare for the drive and organizing for my trip. Thanks!
That's great! So happy to hear the video helped and that it was able to save you time. Have a great time on your cruise!
❤ Thank you

Thank you so much for this video!!! I followed it step by step. The only thing that tripped me up for a second was me trying to go up to find the download image but then duh remembered safari changed the layout to the bottom of the screen. Anyway, thanks so much!! 🙏

Thank you for your expertise! That was a life saver!
You are very welcome! Just glad it was helpful to you.
❤ Thank you
Thank you!!! Portrait mode wouldn't work because the compression ratio was too high for the photo tool, but standard photo worked great :)
Glad it helped!
You gotta new subscription member. You saved me money I had to take passport photos for members of my family it would cost me $60+tax and plus they get good pictures. Their camera is so old probably from early 2000s and also their staff are not professionals it’s just any cashier is taking your pictures and they don’t do good job!!
Awesome! So happy to hear the information in the video helped you save some money. And thanks for the sub! I appreciate it 🙏
Thank you so much for this video. I did everything fine step by step but why am I not getting the circle with the arrow button?
It looks like it has changed a little bit since the latest iphone updates. Look for a blue arrow pointing down next to the website address. Click on that and you will find your downloaded picture.
I just saved $14.84 --Thanks!
Yes! Awesome! 👊
Just took pictures of the family of 3. I got it printed and hope they get accepted. I'll update everybody in 3 days about the results.
So.. did it work
What happened to the update
@@DC-op8fs Sorry about the delay. We all have our passport in hand and already traveled abroad a month ago.
@@user-jc4wr9im7o Nice 👍
There’s shadow on the picture which is not acceptable as a passport picture!
That's why mine got rejected the first time was shadow.
Good video. I noticed your photo shows a shadow. There should be no shadows. Did they accepted your photo or this was just for the video?
Thanks! The photo was just to show the process. It was not the one I used for my passport. My lighting was not the best but you are right my passport photo should not be casting a shadow.
I did exactly like the methods you used but the print-out photos have low resolution and can not be used. May I know what sizes (MB or KB) are your downloaded photos from the first (photo tool) and the second (idphoto4you) websites? Thanks. Mine have only 67KB after downloaded from Photo Tool and 230 KB from idphoto4you.
Hi Linda, I honestly don't remember the size of the downloads from each of the online tools. I don't have those pictures on my phone anymore as it has been almost a couple years since I made that video. I am not sure what would make your photos come in a low resolution. It might be that you have to change a setting on your phone when taking the picture. My Iphone was set at 1080p and for high efficiency. I wish I could be of more help but I am not sure what else would be causing the issue.
Thanks for the video. The tips are much appreciated. I have but one more issue with the "Guarantor" portion of the photo requirement. How do I go about that?
I know some countries require a Guarantor for a passport photo if you are under 18 years of age but the requirement differs between countries. The US just requires an applicant between 16 and 17 to show parental awareness either by the parent going in person with them at the time of application or by a signed note.
Thanks for your help. Applying for my nephew in canada.
Here is a link to requirements www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-passports/travel-documents-references-guarantors.html
That software is not avalable any more on that web site . ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? THANKS😥
Which software? The photo tool? You can access it here 👉 tsg.phototool.state.gov/photo
i know it says no selfie but even if its a white background and its positioned where my whole face is showing? how would it be detected
Usually selfies are going to be too close to your face but if you can make it work go for it.
For Canada their request the actual size of the passport photo is 50 mm wide by 70 mm high how do I go about it ?
Try using this website 👉 passport-photo.online/photo-50x70-mm
My phone prints the image in a4
Photo Tool on site says 'not available'
Try this link 👉 tsg.phototool.state.gov/photo
I paid someone to take the digital passport photo and he sent it to my email.
Can I print it myself or have to go to CVS to do it?
If I print myself what kind of paper do I need to use for printing?
You can print it yourself. Your photo has to be printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper.
Can you just print it on a home printer with printer paper?
You can but it needs to be printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper.
Did you take your pics on 4:3 ratio or 1x1? I did 1x1 from camera but every time I go to upload them I cannot shrink or crop them small enough for my head to fit within the tolerances. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I did 1x1 for mine but I set mine up on a tripod a little more than arms length away and used a Bluetooth remote to take the pictures. You could also use the timer function but this allowed me to zoom in to the right size.
@@BenDreamVacations thanks so much, I ended up re-doing it still as selfies but on 4:3 with enough distance and head room to crop accordingly. Thanks again!
Hello, why I can’t download the picture in my phone?
What is happening when you try and download?
Genuine question, doesn’t the passport photo have to be 2x2? How does 4x6 work?
Yes, the photo has to be 2x2. If you use the website that I used in the video it will create 4 individual 2x2 pictures within the 4x6 photo.
You have a shadow on the wall behind you. How do you get rid of that?
My lighting was not very good in this video. To reduce shadows you really need a bright light pointing directly at you and not from an angle like I had. This will keep the shadow directly behind you and not visible in the picture. I hope that that makes sense. Also, the passport renewal process is about to be completely online starting early next year so if you can wait to renew your passport you can avoid having to print out your pictures and mailing them in.
@@BenDreamVacations thank you. My passport expires in December 😩 renewing online would have been neat
No accept and proceed button appeared when I tried this.
I just tried it and the accept and proceed button shows up for me. I am not sure why it wouldn’t show up for you. Maybe try a different photo?
@@BenDreamVacations To clarify, the accept button was there when I first put the picture on; I believe this is the automatic or default crop. In my case, it turned the picture sideways and cropped it so that only the head was present. Therefore, I went to manual cropping. At this step, the accept button disappeared and never returned.
Sorry this is happening to you Clifford. I wish I could be of more help but I have no idea how to fix what you are experiencing. For me I found it easier to do this part on a laptop rather than a phone.
What confuses me is why would you print 4x6 pictures, when you need 2x2 pictures?
I don't know of anywhere that you can just get a print of a 2x2 photo which is why you have to get 2x2 sized photos printed onto a 4x6 size photo.
@@BenDreamVacations yes I see, I was also mistaken that when I printed to paper, selected 4x6, it game me 4 2x2 passport photos. Odd, I thought it would be called 4x4
you have a shadow on the back and that is unacceptable photo.
Why just iphone not phone?
That's the phone I use. I have no idea if its the same process using other types of phones and I didn't feel comfortable just using the word phone without testing it out.
@@BenDreamVacations okay
Didn’t work
Which part didn't work?
BEN 10
Wayyyyy to complicated
Why is this 12 minutes long?
TIL that iphones have photo printers built into them! Obviously I have always been an android user so I didn't know that. That helps to explain why iphones are so overpriced......
This method of producing passport photos is obsolete - The Adobe method used on Travel.State.gov was withdrawn. This message posted 1/24/2023
the travel.state.gov, show the photo has been rejected because minimum photo 600x600 dimensions, what that mean
It means that your photo doesn't meet the minimum photo requirements of 600 x 600 pixels. Did you use the photo tool? You can find more information here 👉 travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos/digital-image-requirements.html
Thanks!
Appreciate it! Thank you!
