Just rewatched so I can do my first quilted bag! so excited! great tutorial!!
Always Start in the middle and go out
Have you ever tried using quilt batting for your quilting? I’m pretty sure the foam is giving you stability that quilt batting wouldn’t give
Update on Quilting in the Hoop with Tex 70 Bonded Nylon: I was able to do it with my Janome Mb4 embroidery machine, with a few modifications on the tension. Also, I originally thought I had to lower the Bobbin Tension to 10 grams as opposed to 22 grams, but it turns out we don't have to worry about the threads meeting in the middle, because no one sees the back when stitching a Bag. So, I used Tex 70 Bonded Nylon on top, Tex 33 Bonded Nylon on the Bobbin (tension set at 22 grams), 2 wraps around the Pretensioner, a tightened up Checkspring, and floated on 2 oz Cutaway. Whew! It stitched beautifully. So excited about this.
Perfekt, thanks for showing.
When I quilt a whole panel and then cut the pieces I use a zigzag in the seam allowance to finish the edges and squish the foam to make it not so big in the seam allowance. Like the instructions for the Brooklyn by Swoon. I may have to try individual pieces haven’t done that route before.
Beautiful Quilting, Siah! You may even be able to Quilt in the Hoop, with the Tex 70, using your Ricoma. Just loosen the bobbin and tighten the top. I do it with my old Janome Mb4, but I have to use 30 wt Brothread cotton thread on top (since cotton doesn’t stretch) and 50 wt Sew Fine Poly on the bobbin. Using a Towa gauge, my bobbin is at like 10 grams (normally it’s 22 grams), and my top is cranked all the way up. I haven’t tried quilting ITH with Tex 70 Bonded Nylon or Poly yet. Not sure if my machine is strong enough for that. But your Ricoma might be. Just be sure to only use 1 needle for this,…say needle #10…because the bonded wax may deposit on the tension disks. My mechanical engineer friend said to stitch very slow so that you don’t heat up the bonded stuff. I guess you could clean the disks with alcohol, but you still might want to just use 1 needle and go slow.
Good job
Thanks. You made it look so easy and I love the tip for sewing around to seal the stitches.
You are so welcome!

Have you considered making the Nova Sling from RLR Creations? I've only found one video for it and it looks amazing. Sling, backpack, shoulder and cross-body all in one!
That is a designer who doesn’t allow videos I’m so sorry!
Hi can I ask where did you get your thread cutter from please 😊
Wondering the very same thing!!!
I did a panel on my Viking Epic 2 sewing and embroidery machine . I’m going to make a bag out of the panels I make. Thanks for the idea
Peggy, may I ask if you’re using a pattern? Do you have any pix? I have an Epic2, also, & this sounds intriguing 😃
@@annlange7519 the design is on the machine don’t know what page
I put the photo on her Facebook page
Is the Claire the mystery bag sewalong? It sounds familiar. I just haven’t had time to make it. I think I’ll quilt my next bag. It really ramps up the look!
Thanks for the tutorial. I want to jump in and make my first bag. I love your color choices. Can you tell me the color of this material? Thank you!1
Oh shoot I’m not sure!!
Merry Christmas Kassiah! Thank you for all the wonderful videos you do.
When doing the quilting, what stitch length and thread do you use ?
I use around a 4.5 on my machine!
Kassiah, where did you get the thread cutter you have attached to side of your industrial machine?
I got it from carolinalittlestitches.com
I'd like to know the pattern of that cute pink purse with the round metal handles
What color is that vinyl?
What is the foam you are using? I like the thickness.
It is Bosal in R foam I get it off of Amazon
How thick is the bosal?
May I ask what kind of machine you have?
It is a Kingmax gc0302
