The mt82 lawsuit at least changes the narrative when the master mechanic walks out and tries to convince you that you are the issue and not the transmission. It may also convince Ford to up the QA before the transmission is put in the car.
This is exactly what us track guys have been asking for - a GT with Tremec and all the necessary coolers.
Too bad 2015+ models look more like Fusions than Mustangs.
S550 looks a lot more like the SN95s than they do Fusions lol
@@jdigitalseven7 that is such a played out opinion. Each model of Mustang is kind of love it or hate it since the Fox Body. Get over it.
You "track guys" already have the GT 350 for that, so lobby Ford for a Tremac in the GT 350. The MACH 1 was never intended to be a an expensive track model. It was intended to be a street performance car and the model you bought if you wanted the hot motor on a budget. They even got rid of the GT in 69 and the MACH 1 was the street performance model till they got ird of it in the late 70's. The GT would not return to the lineup until 1982.
Allan Nichols They are all street performance cars. None of these are race cars.
totally agree with you on the "MACH-1",wish i could get one...but if i had that kinda cash in my pocket...i'd be looking for a lightly used 350.
I said the same thing @gatekeeper1, over 50k for a mach 1. A used 16-18 350 or a 13-14 GT500 would be fine for me! Sorry Ford I don't have 50k just laying around!
To your comment... i just picked up an extremely gently used 2016 GT350 with 3,700 miles a little over a week ago. What a freakin vehicle. I’ve owned 3 GTs (‘05, ‘12, ‘15) all manuals.. this car isn’t a Mustang, it’s a Shelby. Completely different driving experience than any of my modded Mustangs over the years. I picked up the GT350 for 46,365. They go fast. I looked everyday for 3 months waiting for the perfect deal.
If it helps. You can get a 2016-2017 GT for around 25K area or less. Easy to build up, easy to add power. Regardless a lightly used 350 would be a lot more ideal than the Mach 1.
@@TheWhatYouNeed dam...sounds like a sweet deal...kinda feel sorry for those guys that paid the "mark-up",there's a nice 500 in my area, but the mark-up is rediculous...i saw a 350 at autocross a month ago...it's almost unfair how good they are...makes my 17 gt feel like my moms buick century.
You can get a lightly used 350R for the same price as a loaded Mach 1
Ford needs to add rear brembos already
the missing rear Brembos is definitely a necessity
the missing brembos are on all the camaros
Loved the update on manual transmissions!
2020 the dumpster fire of a year!!! RE: MT-82 suit... And out of any funds that are won the attorneys will get over 50% of that money. Class action suites make the law firm partners rich....
As long as it hits Ford then its better than nothing. They screwed me on my GT 350 so I have now dropped Fords ass.
@@nottachance31 ah another fellow stick driver. Tell me, since video was kind of vague about it nearing the end, whats really going on with the MT-82 trans that's got current/former Ford owners like yourself pissed? (disclaimer: I've never owned a mustang, I'm just curious cause I have a stick too and like to hear/read car mechanics topics)
@@Pin-Din7 gt350 don't have mt82 they have weak transmission for NA setups which is for the gt350..... mt82 IMO can hold a lot more than those tr3160
The lawyers get 33%.
@@Pin-Din7 on higher rpms you get locked out of a gear for instance on 2018s its third gear and it'll grind and only way to put it into gear anything higher than 7k rpms is to smash it. When you do a lot of the time the aluminum shift fork for third will break. In fact all of the gears shift forks are cheap shit weak aluminum. Ford usually covers it if it breaks under warranty. It's a clutch problem for all of them but you can easily blow the mt82 with a upgraded clutch even stock. The mt82 is also Chinese made so that has a lot of people already hating it because of the poor quality of the transmission
also it's been years since I had my 97 'stang and moved on since then, an rx-8 to my current Audi RS5 Sportback and everything in between but I still keep up with my mustang community. best group of people!
Ford's only mistake with the MT-82 transmission is the soft bushing at the tail end of the shifter. I installed a Blowfish bracket on mine and instant cure. No more hunting for gears or high rpm lockout. So take your $150 or whatever you get and invest in one of these brackets.
There's more to it than that if you plan on taking it to the dragstrip with much more than a tune. The internals are trash. I had the blowfish bracket on my 2012 and it made daily driving a lot better but heard of plenty of guys breaking them at the strip or auto X events. The automatics on the other hand, USA made and dudes with blowers with 100+ passes. They're bulletproof.
shite gearbox period...
whole s550 is shite in fact...
fool and his money are easily parted springs to mind
The mistake is having a Chinese-built transmission in the first place.
@@isaachunt5799 The whole S550 line LOL. You could buy a 2018up Mustang GT with a 10 speed auto that will run high 11's bone stock with a 12:1 compression engine on pump gas with forged rods and crank and direct injection for less than 35K if you shop smart. GM will sell you an outdated pushrod engine with cast iron parts that may blow up if revved past 6500rpm in a Camaro that has zero visibility all for closer to 45K on average. I know where the fool spends their money and it isn't on Ford.
@@isaachunt5799 You probably blurt out whatever "springs to mind" because it sure doesn't sound thought out. Tell you what. Bring whatever you drive to the track and we'll go a few rounds. Road course or 1/4 mile.
Shaker was on 70 only. And attached to the throttle body in the centre of the engine where it should be.
LDN Wholesale 69 R codes as well
the 03-04 had a shaker hood too
69,70,03 and 04 had the shaker....
Thanks for the video! This was the most thorough video I've seen thus far on the Mach1.
I dont want the 200 bucks Ford. What we want is Tremecs in all Mustangs! Ive owned 10 Mustangs and 2 had the MT82 and they are not engaging of a drive like the Tremecs. Listen to your customers and it will only benefit you Ford.
Jimbo I have a2012 cs/gt premium mt82 if I take off hard rev over 2500 which isn't that much really it locks me out of second shift i have to let rev come down to shift crazy rite! Has skip shift also. Can u share how to fix this or can it be? Wut good is this nice coyote car if it won't let u use that power such a nice car but that trans doing that just disappoints me can I trick it and stay on the pedal and speed shift or not recommended thx for any feedback
@@skipmcleod7048 Skip shift was removed in 2013 and up Mustangs

i have a 2011 gt/cs with the mt-82 and every gear feel like the trany want to explode , i only have 73k km
I have a Parnelli Jones Mustang with the Tremec trans & it has worked perfectly all those years! I had a Tremec in my 69 Camaro that has also worked perfectly! I have never outright tortured the cars but I do drive them! Ford would of been better off in the long run if they would of used the Tremecs instead of the MT82!
The MT-82 is what happens when an American icon starts outsourcing.
And the class-action lawsuit is what happens when whiney babies that don't know how to shift and actually damaged their own transmissions, get together and convince money hungry lawyers to bring frivolous lawsuits to the table.
@@LMBC6Brian Yeah so as soon as the MT-82 was deployed everyone forgot how to shift and only the drivers are to blame?
@@LowerYourExpectationsPleb Were you alive in the 90's? Everyone was breaking T5 transmissions left and right. You drive like a race car driver you'll break shit like race cars do...its simple

Getting into 3rd gear at high revs in my car has always been a hassle. I've had the car for 7 years and its been very annoying. One of the reasons I only have 30k miles on it
@@TurianX True that. I had an MGW trans mount shifter installed a few months after buying my '19 GT PP1 and it's a night and day difference.
Zero issues with my 2003 Mustang GT with 5 speed manual. :)
Ford should go back to Tremec
That sucks
Love that ford is focusing on handling instead of the mustang just being another straight line car. The mustang is now a more versatile car.
@@angelgjr1999 you don’t have enough power to break
Always appreciate your help with explaining the process of the Mustang. Your experience is always honest, respectful for me. Mustangs are always changing, great bang for the buck vehicle, modified to your own style and the best of your taste. Great video always, Thanks Bill!
I track my -17 GT mustang at the nurburgring with the mt82, really good gearing for that track, and a joy to drive 👍👍
Forgot to say, “after this caronavirus pandemic is over, you’ll be back on the road in no time!”
I mean I’ve been on the road this whole time soooo
Should be over by November 4th.
@@Extreme420now LOL you thought, they cancelled alot of events for 2021 already, because as long as there is no vaccine , or cure, we will never be back to normal.
What is your opinion on the EPA/ RPM situation? Would appreciate your response, 🙏
I really don’t mind that it’s a parts bin car, it makes sense being that it is at the very end of this model’s run. The parts that they assembled are a pretty darn good combination.
The mach 1 looks great!
You are completely 100% wrong. The rapture yes, but everything else you said no.
Replace many engine parts with carbon fiber based material engine parts, carbon Kevlar material engine parts, and Kevlar material engine parts and all in all you get a way lighter in weight Mustang. Faster.
Would it be able to keep up with the Camaro SS1LE at the track?
I don't like the cup tires on rainy or cold conditions, they don't have any grip.
ordered and PAID for a '20 with the ten spd. Now it sits at the dealers because of the brake pedal recall. Any idea how long it takes to get the part to the dlr?? Please give me some info on this problem. I got tricked into signing the paperwork before they told me that they can't release the car until its corrected. I AINT HAPPY
Dang - was looking forward to a 2020 CJs Pony Trails T-shirt.
My clutch got burnt within 1 month of owning. It was brand new too. 2018 mustang GT manual.
I miss the old can sound from the older hot rods. Cool video, thanks.
Ford is moving forward in a pandemic. People that complain are just short sighted in the current status of things. America will be lucky to get out of the pandemic with a beat up economy pissed off society and a bunch of broken people. Let’s just put things into perspective, big picture.
White Stallion what?
Agreed. All businesses need to survive. Not sure how well the Mach 1 will sell. Just seems like something they can let out with the Branco to close all projects until the blow back ends with the virus.
Agreed. Ford sells about 1 million F-series trucks per year in North America. That's more than Toyota's Rav4, Camry & Corolla combined. Best selling vehicle in the U.S. for the last 30 years. They never needed a bailout, nor have some foreign automaker "own" them. In fact, since the 1970s, Ford has been bailing out other automakers like Mazda, Aston Martin & Jaguar. Ford will be just fine. After all, they made us into a car culture.
Any news on the MT-82 and MT-82D transmission? Is it being replaced in the GT models.
ok i hear you but where does it stand with 2021 Wide body Hellcat 727hp and Price wise
Thanks for the great info and I feel like nothing wrong with raiding the parts bin as long as you are choosing the best parts. I think Ford is doing this with the new Mach I .
Mike
Thanks for the new info Bill, and I think the new MACH 1 is going to be a great fun car to drive especially if it's getting the Tremic from the GT 350 . Stay safe buddy! 😎👊👍
My MT-82 has been generally good, but then I don’t push it hard or race, either. IMO it does has some annoyances. Some clunks going into 1st, and first gear is a little short. By the way, love the wheels on that gray Mustang.
I've personally seen over 50 of them brake at the track. I also go to the track every Saturday 4 months out the year. They're junk....
I dont drag race my car ether haven't had any issues with it
@@cecilotto504 You're missing all the fun but saving yourself some money.
I dont even use 1st gear cause i have the 3:73 rear gears so 1st is useless
Great video! The oil consumption scares me long term on the GT350. I had a 2011 coyote and it never used a drop of oil, and never had a single issue with the 6 speed transmission. I would feel more secure buying a Mach 1 over a GT350. That’s depressing owning a car that uses a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. If I were ok with that I could save a lot of money and just buy some old clunker...LOL!
Everyone gets a T56 magnum and call it good ;)
🏎🏎🚀🚀that’d be crazy!!
How is thier not a recall on the sync 1 radio?
Absolutely love the mach1 , wish I could order this and the Bmw m2 competition both awesome cars!
Class action lawsuit against Ford regarding transmissions......where have I heard this before?
Tom dodge?
Not enough complaints, like formal complaints, so it's not going to go anywhere.
I saw the new gray Mach one...wow..it is sweet. I like the Mach one more than the gt500...you really have to see that gray in real life...so cool!!
So 2021 5.0 mach will have Tremec manual transmission huh?
2018 Mustang GT can receive a TR-3160 from either 15 or 16 GT350 without an internal oil cooler. Both Output Shaft and Reverse Light sensor wires and connectors are exactly the same.
I love the new front design. I hope the GTs have that design too
Are they still going to have the PP2 for 2021?
If the shaker wasn’t feasible, why couldn’t they integrate the NACA ducts like the 71-73 Mustangs? The Mach is nice, but the whole thing feels lazy to me.
My friend has the gt350 and the manual transmission had to be replaced. Went to the forums and this was a common occurrence. I think i will stay away from the mach 1 because of that
what year and color is that stang @8:09? love that combo
I'm still looking for a shaker hood on that car
I wouldn’t pay up that kind of money to buy one without the shaker.
@@jasonwheeler8996 I really have to agree the shaker was icon on the mach 1.
Somebody screwed up somewhere
It’s not a real Mach1. Buy a 2004 Mach1 instead with a shaker hood, and save 40k!

JOHN RAU a friend of mine had a red one only car I’ve ridden in that hit 155. Without me driving.
Please tell me this is going to be a top loader Tremec and equipped with an aluminum one piece drive shaft?
they had to cut corners because that 5.0 is too expensive otherwise. hate to say it to folks, but I told you so years ago. make a car like this "affordable" and something has to go. sucks that it was part of the drivetrain lol
Great info on the mach1! I am looking foward to mw too!!
Since the Tremec is going in the Mach 1. Will it work as a replacement in my 2019 Bullitt if I ever need a new transmission?
Yup, T56 magnum in coyotes are common. Check the forums.
yard hostler the t56 isn’t the Tremec in the gt350
I don't recall people hating on the Bullitt, and if they did i'm sure they stopped because it turned out to be a great re-addition to the lineup. Now that it's gone, I don't see why people are complaining about the revised Mach 1! Like you guys said it has some of the best bits from the Mustang lineup... especially for stick guys since the glorious gt350 shifter is in the Mach 1 (and the fact that only manuals can get the handling package like you mentioned). It's personally become my new dream Mustang over a pp1 '18 GT. Hope I get to own one some d.... No I WILL own one some day.
I was going to buy one but without the shaker hood that's a deal breaker.
Question guys if the class action wins why would there not be a recall
My biggest issue with the MT82 and other transmissions ford has produced in the last 10 years (dual clutch focus and escape) is that they know there is a problem and instead of trying to fix it they said F it and just keep on selling them. I know in the video it said owners wouldn't see much from the law suit but maybe if ford gets punched in the coin sack enough they will actually address the issue instead of screwing over their customers
The issue with the MT-82 generally lies in the shift linkage (not being especially robust/rigid) and the underlying bracketing. The MT-82 has the shifter mounted directly to the chassis via the transmission tunnel. Under hard acceleration/rpm and load, the engine and transmission twist under the torque of the engine (this is normal to an extent on every car), however most manual transmissions (for high powered cars) mount the shifter and linkage directly to the transmission, not the chassis like the mustang's design. This means the transmission moves and twists, but the shifter and linkage doesn’t move with it since it’s bolted to the chassis directly.
This leads to an inconsistent shifter feel, grinding, high rpm lockout, and all those other things you hear about in the forums. Add the scenario of driver at a drag strip trying to shift aggressively and quickly to a shifter design that doesn’t like to be hurried and you have a recipe for complaints and issues.
It's a shame Ford dont put the Tremec into the standard GT's
huh, and i was commenting under one of your videos a few months ago that I was very hesitant to get a mustang with an mt-82. so I guess the rumors are true, then. Hope they go back to tremec.
My one complaint is the horsepower, i would consider purchasing if the power was 500 or better
Not sure where suggestions go but CJs, are there any options out there to replace those cheap and nasty toggle switches we have in the S550? The ones in the GT350 are waay nicer for example.
yeah, solution to that is, S197 body swap.
Love the fighter jet gray...
Yo mean grey primer!
I wish they had the top model Mach with the option to have the auto!
I think the Mach 1 looks awesome....everyone hates on every new design for some reason, even before they’ve seen it in person. . I remember when the 2015 and 2018 s550 debuted and everyone had something negative to say. Now they are arguably the best mustang generation ever.
You guys think an stage 4 or 5 would help the mt 82 transmission? I'm buying soon an 2020 gt manual pp2 and I wasn't sure if that would help the trans or if there's anything else to help it ?
Ben Calimer sells bullitproof mt-82’s. Hardcore Ford racers and performance guys have said the Tremec manuals blow up and are much weaker than the MT-82. Get the car and if you break the transmission, get one from Calimer Transmissions
Should of stuck with the indestructable Borg Warner Tremec in a 6 speed version...I wonder if BW makes a replacement for mustangs 2011-2021 (current)?
Big companies would rather pay soulless chinese factories to build cheap brittle transmission to put in their cars.
Just got a 2018 GT manual, first manual car, hope it doesn't have problems...
Just make sure it is sold before the warranty expires, but until then just enjoy it!
I have a 2018 manual got it brand new and now it had 61k miles and running good!
The shaker hood was done on the 2003-2004 mach 1 two but know one wants to talk about that mustang mach1
My MT 82 works fine in my mustang I think it’s just the driver and there Maintance habits
How many miles?
I bought a new 2018 gt and no matter what the gear will always lockout on heavy throttle. The dealership won’t replace the shift forks to the newer ones because as he said there’s no recall on this matter.
100,000
miles
I have a 2017 with 16k miles, the trans isn't great even with my low miles. It's definitely a weak point of the car. I hope soon we can upgrade to the Shelby trans
Hockey guy I guess there was a bad batch of transmissions myself and a whole bunch other guys have no issues
My mt82 has a hard time getting in to 1st
Kudos to Dodge for still offering a Shaker......
What’s the news on the new MT88 transmission, I’m interested in a 2021 Mustang GT with a manual 6 speed. Any info on the MT88 would be appreciated.
As far as we know the MT88 7 speed is just being used for the Bronco at this time but that may change.
CJ Pony Parts I hope they upgrade the 6 speed Transmission or redesign it, thanks for your response.
Love these types of vids!
Mach 1 upper and lower grilles will match. They are changing the lower grille to be gloss black.
Good commentary Bill. I don't care if they call it a parts bin car and it does not have a shaker hood. I'll be ready to buy one if they are too greedy otherwise it might be a used GT350. I had an MT-82 in my 11GT and not any problems even after adding a supercharger.
Is the Mach 1 available with a "Stripe Delete" option?
The stripes are included with the appearance package so you do not have to order them.
$60k for a mustang.
lol, no.
If I replace my 392 with a car upwards of $60k it will be either a hellcat or C8 corvette.
Spend 40K on a 2013-2014 GT500 and you'll have a car better than the Hellcat and that fugly C8
Why is your side mirror blue on the GT350??
I can't wait for the 2021 Mustang Mach 1
Where are the rear louver, side scoops and long ram air hood? Those are key parts for a real Mach l.
The lawsuit isn't about getting paid, it's getting ford to realize they need to do something different and 5mil to them is basically an asshole tax for their transmissions. They could easily put tremec in all their vehicles but they wanted to cheap out to make their higher end cars "worth" the money all the while Chevy has been chuckling putting tremecs in the Camaro SS this entire time.
I wouldn't want to see ford lose 5 million....and if they did wouldn't that hurt them even more? So the next generation mustangs will get the mt82 instead of the tremecs thx to a lawsuit
So here's my big question can I get the handling package in Oxford White?
Yes

I love my GT, I've learned how to drive my mustang and avoid the clunks. Drop the lawsuit
I have noticed that a lot of people would like the 7,3 godzilla as a option for the mach 1 . That would be Dodge's nightmare , a mustang with a bigger motor then the scat pack challenger. Let's go racing boys & girls.
This car....I don't know, reminds me of the 1977 King Cobra, mostly Gimmick.
Great video guys Ford has done an amazing job with this Mach 1 there will always be people complaining about everything opinions are like a- holes every one has one. Keep up the great videos I have learned so much from Cj on upgrades on my cars thanks.
Honestly, when they first revealed the S550 people were hating it because it heavily shifted towards a European sports car look especially after the success of the s197.

Does the bullit engine still have a plastic gear for the oil pump?
The factory gears are cast
@@cjponyparts powdered metal "plastic" cheap.. I looked into it, they didn't resolve the issue. Think I'll stick to ls
The parts bin idea is nothing new all car makers use it ..however, a Mach 1 should have been a one off for all the hype and to make it worth even buying it ...I say spend the extra $$ and get the Shelby GT350 or go for the gills and get the GT500....going to spend the money go for the best you can get for the money .
Mach1 was a stripe package in 69 on. Very little else. V8 engine, auto or manual and front drum brakes! Discs were an option, as was a shaker on a 70. As too was the Hurst shift. Which unlike all Ford Top Loader shifters did not jam. Especially in reverse.
So nothing is new. Just recycled 50 years!
they should option it with the 7.3 godzilla engine
What suspension does the Mach have. Is it a PP2 or GT350 suspension?
Think he said pp2 magnaride with the m1 track package.
So they aren't discontinuing the shelby gt350 just yet?
That’s a good questions because it was supposed to be removed out of the lineup
Since the shelby gt350 has a 5.2 with a flat plane crank, the new mach 1 should've had the 5.2 with a cross plane crank. Would've been better than just having the regular 5.0
60K for a parts bin car or 15K to drop the engine in an older mustang.
I had the chance to buy a really nice 03 / 04 Mach1 but I bought a foxbody. I hope someday they bring back the foxbody look
Captain Spaulding Don’t get me wrong Foxbody’s are cool and helped fill a void when performance was really awful. Back in the 80s they were having problems getting cool body lines out of thinner lighter sheet metal and everything had that boxy look. I get the nostalgia of a fox but I don’t think many would buy a car that looks like that today? I dig Ford and Mopar, really anything American, but I’m glad the new Challengers and Chargers don’t look like the ugly 80s versions of those two cars. That said, fox’s are cool and if you want to see a ton, visit your local dragstrip. That’s where many live out their lives today.
Edit: isn’t the “5.0” badge for the Coyote a tribute (same script) to the 80s Fox?
One of many reasons I bought my ‘18 PP1 with the 10 speed.

Ryan R they are Shelby CS21 specifically made for the GT350 but we offer the CS5 as well which will fit 05-20 GT etc
BIG, BIG question Folks, will the new Mach 1 be offered in right hand drive for us Brits?
We love the Mustang from the word go, couple of early ones and at least two of the more recent RHD models near where I live in South East UK, fabulous cars and hopefully the lawsuit will be sorted to the benefit of all.
Still jonesing for a decent semi accurate render of the 2023
Will this vehicle also have the dreaded "typewriter tick" that the regular GT's have? If so, then you can throw it in the garbage. If the engine in the Mach 1 is actually designed properly WITHOUT the "tick" then I am a serious customer. I need to see some evidence that this problem has been resolved.
as a 1LE guy I think this car will be awesome but the price has to be right. If they really are trying to make it a track car I think the price needs to be mid 40s. Maybe they don't care about beating the 1LE. I mean they have to an extent with a car thats 20g more so not the same. Still I would be interested in one of these!
if the mt82 lawsuit is won, wouldn't that mean that ford has to recall the transmissions?
That's not Jet fighter gray. Its off white with a very tiny hint of gray.
