      Truth about Ayurveda
Ayurveda was when we did nothing about Human anatomy, Virus or bacteria, chemical reactions leave alone bio chemistry. So science behind it is mainly shooting in dark and highly questionable. Same is the case with all other medicines.
There is only one medicine which cures disease. Rest is speculation, wishful thinking, placebo effect, supplementary thing. Ayurveda can never replace allopathy because it can never replace any of the treatment that modern science has developed for simple reason ,that knowledge (and hence treatment) did not exist at the time. This is not just for Ayurveda but true for any other older practices namely accupuncture and accupressure, homeopathy, yunani medicine,
blood letting (Romans used it for thousands of years and was standard way to treat people in rome, First president of US was treated with this method and died because of it).
Evidence based medicine along with penicillin and clorination of drinking waters has helped increased average (not maximum which is seen around 100 years) human life span from around 35 years to 75-80 years now (atleast in developed nations Japan leading there).
If Ayurveda is so great why do not ayurvedic companies take patents and sell their products all over the world? Answer: because they can not . Science did not exist at that time and things cannot be proved with precision required in modern drug development plus we simply do not have replacements.
Most ayurvedic drugs in US :are sold as suppliments main ly in Indian stores or stores which sell herbal products not in drug store. You will never find them in any main stream drug store.
In US supplement industry is not regulated , you can sell any thing and make any claim, let market decide demand...many crappy products sell like that eg body building products which do more harm than good. Few years ago US FDA asked to withdraw some chyavanprash products from market due to high level of metals in it unsuitable for human consumption.
Do we regulate ayurvedic products in India any way? Should not we?
Most practitioners of Ayurved in India: Give treatment for primary illness, fever, cough ..use general allopathic medicine in disguise and the refer people to specialists. Or they will do pure chicanery like "Get the baby of desired sex" etc (50 % of the times you will be right, and that will generate enough referals to make you known, rest 50% wont open their mouth).
Same is true for other thing: Offer something to people who do not have any other option (people allopathy being actual science have said we donot have much treatment about). People will try any thing in desperation, plus being natural is considered harmless. Think: is everything natural really good or harmless? By that standard even poison is natural and we should stop cooking food.
People say ayurvedic medicine do not have side effects , well for a reason we have not studied their side effects yet.

It is always wrong to comment on the authenticity of something without knowing its depth. I'm pretty sure all your comments come from the fact that you read a few things off the internet and maybe a few others from books on such topics and not from actually reading ancient Charaka samhitha or other authentic ayurvedic text books.
But the ancient Indian scriptures "probably" do have a basis and we just never considered it.
So many things that were considered "traditional" in India are now being proclaimed by the west as "new methods" that they discovered.
Intermittent fasting for example, was already in the scriptures, during times when, like you said no actual "knowledge" existed. How did people just speculate something so scientific and right? Sheer luck? Really?
There is always more to something than what meets the eye.
I am not against allopathy, I'm an allopathic doctor myself, I do believe English medicine is needed in times of emergency but ayurveda shouldn't be discarded just coz you think it's not "scientific"
I'm only saying that unless one is well versed with that knowledge disregarding something as not equally valuable is wrong.
English medicine also isn't perfect, more often than not we don't have all the answers either. One study comes out today with one finding, 6 months later that study is proved wrong by someone else. It takes years to establish something, in the meantime, people need something to believe and practice.
And sometimes ayurveda makes sense, it actually brings results.
It is probably not as well established because we Indians don't spend much resources on research. NIMHANS in Bangalore is now doing a lot of research on ancient Indian methods of healing and seeing results.
So you see, don't be biased. Wait, or keep searching for the truth. If you establish in your mind that the ancient systems are flawed, you're just being delusional and there's no more room for possibilities.

@@alpeshmittal3779 I don't know on what facts did you claim that Ayurveda was when we knew nothing about the Human anatomy cause , in Ayurveda the medicines are prescribed based on the prakriti of that person which just doesn't consider the human anatomy but the character and synthesis of the particular body type. Also the first surgery was carried out by Sushruta who is Ayurveda practitioner and that too in the 6 the century BCE. All of this is based on the understanding of the body to the micro/ cell level and not just shooting in the dark. Even the yoga comes under the medical practions of Ayurveda along with the spiritual aspect. You need to look at things other then the western lense of modern science and understanding othewise evrything will be hoocus poscus for you. I agree that there has been serious documentation issue, but we can't neglect the fact that our country was invaded several times and the civilization was disrupted here and there. So I can't get you the detailed things on each and every aspect. But the thing that was being done from so long that is passing on knowledge was also restricted.
The claim that eidense based medicine (*EBM) has increased the human life span in Japan could be debatable, I will gather information about it and then talk about it. But the average life span in India was already higher prior to the commense of the EBM so don't use some single data with the full set. There are evidences of EBM causing various side effects and production of cancer cells in the human body. And now the west is trying to move towards more sustainable methods of medicine. In Ayurveda the food that we consume is medicine rather then the medicinal tablets or syrups that is consumed by EBM.
The Ayurveda companies are not as rich as the EBM industry cult so there is an issue to that.there have been many replacements to the EBM with the Ayurvedic medicines in the cases of cancer, diabetes and asthma. The ractitioners are persuing the western ways of taking patent and writing reaserch papers. It will surely happen. In India there have been many Ayuvedic colleges which have come up or I can say has remained from the past 70 years which are doing their bit without the help of the government. People from all around the world come to India for undergoing the Ayurvedic procedure in Kerala and Karnataka.
Most Indian drug store need to survive in the US, so they don't sell any medicinal purpose drugs, but they are selling all types of herbal products or skin care products. Can you please be specific towards the product that was mentioned so that I can the facts right on that rather than genearlising the context. The Ayurvedic products need to be regulated but on the terms of Ayurveda practitoners rather than anyone who has no clue about it. And things will be done.
Most practitioners in India give treatment to cancer, diabetes, Alzymers, asthma, obesity and many more diseases and I have proof of that as I was treated with the help of Ayurveda as none of the other medicines worked on me. It took almost 10 years for me get it cured. Ayurveda is slow but effective. Could you get any official published researches on what you are claiming rather then speculating.First thing when anyone considers the word natural nobody thinks of poison as it is harmful for the body, this is because in India people have common sense. There are peolple who are living on (healthy) just the raw diet which is just fruits and vegetables.
I think people have forgotten the ways in which western medicine was advertised in India, Colgate said they we were tribal to use the neem, tulsi, aswagandha, charcoal instead of their product and now we see that they are selling the same thing which they had asked us to stop using. Even in the case of turmeric milk, which is now being sold in Starbucks and people think that is cool. This is the status of Indian technology and science due to the western thinking of people. People should think about being truthful rather than being cool.
Nobody in the Ayurveda has claimed that they do not have side eefects. They have side effects based on your prakriti/dosha and the food that is consumed. However the side effects are vey narrowed and not serious whereas the EBM has been sourced to many fast and hazzardous side effect.
I'm not saying we should completely boycott the EBM but use it in situations whcih are necessary and go for Ayurveda wherever necessary. We have been a civilization which accepted change in all the matters of life so using the modern technology with the Ayurveda and Yoga.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will go through them👍

Read Book: 1. Trick or Treatment by Simon Singh 2. Do you believe in magic for more information. Both available on amazon.in and kindle. Spread knowledge it saves lives and helps people make right decisions.

Very Nicely Explained... Well My Prakriti is "Pitta", but confused about Vikriti. Ayurveda is a Lifestyle we should follow through out the life. Though some emergencies need help from Allopathy but an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Can Stop or Postpone Such Emergencies from Happening. Whatever We did till date, we should be in Ayurvedic Lifestyle as earlier as possible and also make our next generation be in the same from start of their Life. Keep Up The Good Work Sir.
