Have been wanting to upgrade my exact same PC as yours for a while and have always been shot down by everyone saying that it wasn't possible. With your video now I can finally upgrade it! Came across this video just from looking for ways to upgrade the this PC this year, wish I found this video two years ago.
Portz I just wanna say thank you so much I did it and it’s so great man I wouldn’t know anything about PCs and how far they can go without you thank you once again
No problem! I am glad that I could help you out. Thank you for responding to other peoples questions in the comments.

Great video nice, easy, straight to the point, but the way you held the cpu killed me
Great content, straight forward, helpful.
Thanks!!!
great vid portz tech. would know nothing about this pc without you
That's awesome! I am glad that I could help you out with this!
Thank you bro I have an Hp tg01 0030 and the main nvme went bad. So I was going to make a bootable drive and replace it. But your project makes sense and is affordable.
This is sweet. I just put more ram and another fan in mine and spray painted it.
honestly, this is a great PC
I have a pc just like the one you case swapped and I was wanting to upgrade the graphics card but I didn't want to case swap it because the front IO would make it hard to, but I never thought of changing the mother board. That was very simple and smart way to do it, now I want to do this to my pc. Great video very helpful thank you.
Thanks, for the comment!! I am glad that this was clear for you and helped you out :) If you ever need help. let me know or join the discord
@@PortzTech Thanks, will do
The motherboard for it sucks. When I upgrade it the first thing I'm gonna upgrade is the motherboard.
changing the parts makes it not a swap, that's why. lol upgrading the motherboard means changing the PSU, and most likely the cooler which was used in a case that was designed to make it efficient enough for its other cheap parts. that's half of your internals changed off the bat. nothing about that is case swapping, it's just building and part harvesting.
Love the vids I wouldn’t know anything about the hp pavilion if it weren’t for your vids
That is awesome to here. I am glad that it can help you out

Ive done upgraded my pc video helped alot thank you only question/ help i need is how to deal with wifi component im not sure where it goes
Thank you for the inspiration to do that case switch resp. little new built.
Did it to my TG01-2702ng (AMD Ryzen 5700G and RTX 3060ti) and everything worked fine. I certainly couldn't use the same parts you did, because of my different HP model, but the basic of the stock list with CPU, Mainboard, PSU, CPU cooler and case was the same. (Thermal compount came with my CPU cooler)
I was very sceptical about the 1:1 change of the SSD, especially because of the windows license, first. But also that worked fine.
Just two things for others who want to do it. Might be that these issues did only happen to me, but if you get them, perhaps it might help:
1) I use a pin code to log in to windows. When I started the "new" PC a message appeared at the log in screen, that I have to set a new PIN due to changed safety settings. In my case, the drivers for the wlan card on the mainboard weren't installed at that point, so the only way to set the new PIN was a LAN cable (so you should have some by hand, if you don't use one normally and use W-LAN only).
2) I chosed a MSI Mainboard for the new build. There you have two slots for SSDs. M2_1 and M2_2. The M2_2 slot would have fitted exactly the length of the SSD used in the HP, so i placed it there.
With that placement the PC wasn't able to boot windows at every first start without going into BIOS first. It started in BIOS, I had to close it without changes and then it worked. Restarts were no problem. They worked without BIOS.
After I searched some hours I came to the point, that either the slot M2_2 doesn't support the SSD or the slot isn't able to boot.
After i changed it to M2_1, the boot to windows works fine.
Thanks
Did you have to uninstall the old motherboard drivers and install new ones
No, I didn‘t uninstall any drivers before.
It worked fine without. Just installed the new ones after the first start of the „new“ computer.
Cheers bro. I love you.
Love you too
Thank you. Wanted to upgrade my Pavillion Gaming Desktop from a GTX 1650 super to a RTX 3060. And a big piece of advice- get a case with lots of pre-installed fans. I got a 109 dollar MUSETEX case with 6 pre-installed RGB fans and a glass side panel, which I will be using to fit my dual fan MSI 3060
edit: you need a case with a lot of preinstalled fans because the pavillion gaming desktop comes with 3 fans- however 1 is a cpu cooler and one is a PSU fan which only turns on when it needs to, so technically you only have one fan. it can get REALLY hot in that little space
Did the windows license transfer over?
@@giffel979 windows license is on your ssd/hdd so if you transfer that over itll transfer
this is the same thing I was going to do get a musetex case with 6 fans
Thank god you had sense to upgrade that crappy MB... I just rebuilt my old Acer pre build for my buddy and told him he must spend 200 dollars on a new MB, PSU and case lol! And you must stagger the Ram so its set up in dual channel! I recommend looking in the MB book to find out what Ram Channels you need to use!
Did the windows license transfer over?
nice video!
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the content!
Great video
Here's some pointers though;
big one is not to touch the cpu pins, hold it by its sides as you can damage the pins and could render it useless.
i would ground myself (remove static electricity) from myself before dealing computers, its not necessary but it definitely is a good thing to do just in case, you can ground yourself by touching a plugged in, but not turned on powersupply or using an anti-static bracelet.
also the thermaltake cooler you have has had some bad rap for being a bad cooler, but for a ryzen 5 5600g (with its igpu disabled) it should hande it fine with good enough airflow.
the 750 watt power supply is a bit overkill especially with a 1650 super (expected powedraw of your system is around 200) but its always nice to future proof with a good quality and wattage psu so no real problem there
but overall if it works it works. so you did a great job and its a real cool mod you did
(also i have a 5600g 1660S version of that same pavilion) lol
also, the power supply sucks in heat from the big fan at the bottom and throws it out facing out the way with the power cord socket faces. they usually have their own isolated cooling so facing down is what you should do, as if its facing up it can suck in some hot air from the case which is not ideal
Thanks, for the input. I will keep it in mind for the future
With the 1660 s , are you running it off a 400 watt power supply? I want to install the msi 1660 s 6gb that require 450 and im not sure if i should do all this or will it run with the 400 watt?
i think he knows
11:40 😂 I've watched this before when I first thought about a swap, thinking and it again. Never noticed the pups steal the screwdriver though😅
Thanks
No problem
I was able to pick up the all ryzen variant including a ryzen 5 5600g and rx5500 for $400 and I can't say how much of a steal that is
Great video but I will recommend holding the CPU from its sides.
Thanks for the tip!

Hey what other power source could we use instead of the b2 is there a better one we could get I never done this before and only wanna do it right since everywhere I go the b2 is sold out.
Would you know how to go about also adding in the hard drive to this build? im new to pc's, and im planning on doing this swap and upgrading from a 1660 super to a 3060 ti. Thanks
Video has been incredibly helpful, although I know it wont be possible but could you potentially make another video where all you do is change the case from the hp pavilion to the new one using everything in the old case (If there are some stuff that is required to be added then those are ok too) the reason im asking this is because my pc isnt very good and if i get a new case i can start customizing stuff inside it but i would like to customize stuff one by one tysm
Hey I also have the same pc and I was wondering how to do this but on the go pavilion you know how there’s the usb ports on the front of the case well you have to change the mother board only because then there would be no slots on your new case for those ports to go into Im thinking of doing the same thing I hope you have good luck with your pc 😁
@@Isaiahz2006 ty
@@emir2996 Of course, also I'm searching whether the power bank can work on a different case or if its only used on the pavilion do you happen to know that at all its okay if you dont
@@Isaiahz2006 I unfortunately do not know, but if you happen to get any information on that, you mind just answering right here?
You can’t do that unfortunately, it’s a proprietary mobo and won’t fit another case. You’ll have to swap out the mobo, and the PSU is also made specifically for the HP mobo. You’d be better off just building a new PC and using the gpu/cpu/ram etc from your prebuilt
At a certain point this stopped being a case swap and started being an entirely new build using a 2nd hand GPU and CPU.
Yea, that is basically what this become for this build series
@@PortzTech OK, but hear me out here, If you are using a new motherboard and power supply and only sourcing your CPU, GPU and SSD from the pavilion, all of which are available off the self, is this really a pavilion build?
Are the temperatures in the new case better?
new mobo = new cpu, at least for me @@DiminuendoBlue
Really not a swap if you’re replacing literally almost everything smh. Just build one at that point
That's exactly what he did, just used the CPU & GPU. Not a case swap in any sense.
no one gonna talk about the dog stealing the screwdriver lmao, thx for the video
Awesome vid love this. However I have a question. How would I be able to install that stock cooler on the new mobo?
I like how he try so hard on those "hand made" transition effect
can i use a diffrent power suply?
So do I have to buy new parts or can I just use same parts and just move them
Nice
Thanks!
Do you kee the hp software and windows if you swap the motherboard? Im not a prof so maybe its a dumb question idk.
The only parts you need ...... is EVERYTHING! Except the locked CPU, a used NVME SSD and your old GPU ;) You will really luck out if the old ram is compatible with the new motherboard.
Great Video!
I want to upgrade my pc that has the same specifications as the one in the video and your video encouraged me more to do it! So i am going to upgrade its case, motherboard, CPU cooler :
The new motherboard will be the ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-Plus;
The new case will be the NZXT H5 Flow Compact ATX Mid-Tower;
The new CPU cooler will be the DeepCool AK400 WH.
I was thinking of using the same power supply, storage, memory, CPU and the GTX 1650 from the old case on the new case.
Do you think it is a good idea?
hello I'm a random but I think it would be super cool if you did it for the cooling of the hp pavilion box is doubtful. And I have a question, the motherboard of the hp pavilion can go in the nzxt h5 flow ???
I recently got myself a pavilion with a ryzen 5 5600g and radeon 6600xt and now i’m wanted to switch it to a new case for better airflow and obviously the looks. I was wondering what a good motherboard would be. Thanks

3:48 No you can not "do whatever you want" I mean you can, but if you are running 2 sticks of RAM you should be checking your motherboard and putting them in the proper 2 slots for dual channel capabilities. This arrangement is almost never with the 2 sticks side by side, hence why you see people stagger them
I have the exact same pc if I want to upgrade to a bigger case for better airflow I will need a new motherboard and case everything else is fine right?

portz tech can you use the same hard drive for the new motherboard? does the mother board work with windows 11?
This is a great video! Can I use any case, cpu fan and 750w power supply? Thank you!
You can use any case that is basically a full size atx case. You can use a lower watt power supply too just make sure it’s a atx power supply. You need to make sure your cpu is compatible with the motherboard
Would the TG01-2003w be the same? I want to mirror what you did but can’t find anything but 0023w videos.

Very good video! Now if I wanted to would I be able to put the same motherboard in the new case? Thanks!
Nope it is specifically hp. Aka proprietary. The power supply also cannot be swapped to a new mobo
Does this need a different motherboard or are these chassis you can find for better airflow without replacing the motherboard?
You have to replace the motherboard it will not fit in the case without a new motherboard
If you carry over the same motherboard several things will need to be addressed:
1) if you’re lucky you may be able to mount four standoffs
2) the original PSU will likely only fit one screw on the case unless you 3D print a template
3) a new PSU will need an adapter since the motherboard isn’t 24 pin (don’t recommend splicing and soldering old connector to new PSU)
4) you will lose your front USB ports, audio jacks, and card readers (with the USB ports you could use then as an internal to external solution or mod an extension cable to an open bay or run an open case to reach in and still use those three items).
5) you will need an exterior power button mod (either by relocating an alternative or modding an extension arm to reach the original, keeping in mind the indicator light).
It can be done with a lot of work, but with the BIOS limitations it’s better to get a new board.
