I loved Inside! It’s doesn’t have cheap disturbing effects of rape, pedophilia, pornography, or snuff.
It relies on putting you in the woman’s shoes and making you feel scared and uncomfortable. It makes you empathize with her and really root for her….despite that feeling of dread that this won’t end well for Sara.
Speaking of biting off lips:
My late brother had his upper lip completely ripped off except for it dangling on by half an inch.
He had approached what he thought was a lost dog at night on the sidewalk. My brother was the biggest dog lover, so he didn't care if it might bite.
Unfortunately it was a wild coyote, and my brother couldn't see it that well in the dark (hence him not noticing the lack of collar)
When my brother leaned in to try and comfort it, and pick it up and put in his car, it pounced on him.
Funnily enough with how insane the damage was, the tear was clean, as tbough the canine teeth sliced through it.
After the stitches were done, when the swelling finally went away you wouldn't notice anything other than a slight scar above where the tear started.
My brother loved dogs so much that when he tested negative for rabies, he was ready to lie about the location where he was attacked, since he didn't want the coyote to be euthanized just because he approached it and frightened it. 😅
I hope your brother is a bit more careful about approaching animals in the dark, now. =)

The most insane injury story in my family comes from my uncle falling off a tree when he was ten, and got caught on a branch with his foot. The fall was so violent that it basically hung on a tendon. They managed to sew everything back together at the hospital, and you really couldn’t tell nowadays, but that shock was intense for my mom (8yo, climbing beside him) and their parents. 🫣
Hope everything great in life goes to your brother! He deserves the best! Hope he's more careful by the way, don't want him to get hurt!

Thank you! My parents own a corporation which sounds nice and all, but it ultimately means that they won't be around for their kids growing up.
But thankfully my brother was. His music interests are my music interests because of being around him, and he taught me how to play video games at a VERY young age of 3.5 (I'm 30 now Hahaha) and more importantly he taught me all about life skills, what to do, what not to do, what's trendy, what's 'lame', and always would spoil me.
He was 10 years older than me, and my other brother was more independent, and did his own thing.
The last thing my brother texted my parents was about how he gave a distraught father $300 because he was sitting outside of a children's hospital after visiting his son. With the hotel, he'd be in close proximity, instead of making the long trip back and forth.

French Horror is some of the best material in the genre. Brutal, pulls no punches, transformative, still focuses on character development, and invokes real feelings of discomfort while watching. Eyes Without A Face, Diabolique, The Vanishing, Martyrs, Sheitan, Irreversible, Raw, Livid, The Night Eats the World, High Tension, all of them amazing in their own way but these common threads of French cinema weaves its way through all of them in one manner or another.
"France is the synonym of protest" as a French person, I concur 😶
Edit: also fetal abduction is a real thing and that's what makes this movie even more disturbing for me ._. I thank the people behind channels like spookyrice as I could never have the guts to watch this type of movies myself! You're the best spooky! ❤
@TheSupriest I mean it happens in real life. There are several stories of women pretending to be pregnant, bonding with another real pregnant woman with the goal of stealing the baby directly from the womb when baby is full term.
@TheSupriest yeah yeah but that doesn't mean it can't happen. My point was even though it's a movie, the fact that this exists in real life makes it even scarier imo!

@aMasterPole it's become so usual that once the fire has passed, it's like nothing has happened. What's been broken is getting rebuilt and life just goes on. It's always a very scary moment, though.

Titane is great, a crazy body horror experience with some incredibly cringey gore. Raw is fantastic as well, by the same director, a really intense but kinda wholesome cannibal story? Martyrs is pretty much a classic at this point and rightfully so. Trouble every day is another great cannibal movie. Calvaire is a solid trapped with a psycho movie and finally the most effed up French movies imo are anything by Gasper Noe: irriversible, enter the void etc.

I’ve seen all the most popular French extremity films but Inside is the one that sits in the back of my mind.
I actually really enjoyed this film. It’s fast paced and exciting and brutal to watch. Of course if you can stomach it because it definitely is one of the most brutal films ever that’s not like, some obscure deep web shit.
Edit: But as others have said, it’s really just gory and violent, and doesn’t rely on disturbing “sexual” imagery or rape or anything for its visceral scares and shocks. So if you like violent films then you’ll love this lol.

This one was probably one of the best and hardest to watch movies I’ve ever seen. It’s gut wrenching and savage. You both want to look away and somehow find it difficult to look away. Crazy stuff.
I just literally finished watching this a couple days ago, immediately became one of my favorite horror movies ever or even just movies in general.
I'm a huge noob with the "French Extremity" scene & with French horror in general. I think the only one I've seen was "Raw" & I thoroughly enjoyed that one.

The Holy Trinity of French horror is (in no particular order) Inside, Martyrs and High Tension.
There were some real promises there but for some reason our film industry quickly put a lid on them and since then we are back to populist comedies and social dramas.

This movie is intense, but I found the ending to be silly rather than disturbing
How was it silly? The whole point is she is trying to steal her baby, and she does. What did you expect? The only other ending could have been the pregnant woman winning but did you really think that was gonna happen in a French Extremity film like this?
@@merlinho0tright I don't get how it's silly at all, killing women for their unborn baby is a very real thing & this movie had come out not too after there was one that happened. And almost every time it happens the mother is killed, although I did hear of a case where the mother survived, which in a way is almost worse then them dying, in most cases the baby won't survive. It's unfortunately a grim reality.
Sarah didn't have much common sense, I'm not suprised she didn't survive

High tension is my fav French gore!! That first view is just INSANE
It is my favorite too....dare I say it is one of the more fun ones. So many are bleak. But that one had an awesome twist so it is an easier one to watch twice.

Frontier(s) is probably my favorite French extreme horror flick.. The movie is balls to the walls and just wicked as hell.

The best French horror flick is tied between Frontier(s) & Raw for me. As much as I dug Martyrs & it stuck with me.
Hey spookyrice, just a suggestion for disturbing things to watch is Skinamarink. It’s a great film, but maybe not for you, since the premise of the movie revolves around 2 kids.

There was a French movie, that was a psychological movie, I forgot the name. But it goes like this lady tries to protect her lover" from stalkers,l but the twist dang you won't expect when you first time watching it.
