I've watched these ten times over since the series aired for the first time back in the day ! I've got all the DVD's at home, but I so look forward to your reaction to them, because you get it !! It's not just about a half hour of comedy, but an illustration of real life, where in Glasgow, and in a lot of Scotland, humour is an everyday tool to combat adversity and sorrow ! keep em coming young man ! ps. the original " Clansman " was filmed in The Gimlet pub before the built an entire set in the studio !

Nice one you will enjoy very much. When you are there you have to try find a butchers where you can get Buckie sausages or the iconic marsbar or any chocolate bar in batter but rich and sweet I would suggest 1 and share half with you misses

Not only that the tapes in region one roll from left to right while in region 2 the roll right to left

I stay in Edinburgh but was out at Navid's shop last week, in Townhead, Glasgow.
Hi the clansman was actually a pub in ruchill in Glasgow called the gimlet I used to stay above the at the time of filming the first series back in 2000 👍

Another interesting fact the owner of the pub was i man called Brian innes he had 3 son's one called Brian so the father was known as big Brian and the son young Brian 👍
Goto central railway station and stand below the big clock, it's in one of the episodes
I know you love your coffee so I recommend The Good Coffee Cartel. Not too far from Ibrox stadium and in a lot of people's opinion does the best coffee in Glasgow.
There are 2 other senior football teams in Glasgow. Queen's Park and Partick Thistle. Thistle play in Maryhill where most of Still Game was filmed. In fact, their stadium (Firhill) was in the background of an episode. Queen's Park owned Hampden until recently. They now play at Lesser Hampden right beside the national stadium. Fun fact. Queen's Park played in an FA cup final and the first ever international football match ever played was Scotland v England at a cricket ground in Glasgow. The entire Scotland team were Queen's players.

Regarding the part about the tape needing converting by shug - If I remember rightly we here in the UK used the PAL system and Canada and others used NTFS system. Naturally the two were incompatible with each countries video recorders back then. it was the same with a UK version of the old playstations being unable to play import games from non-eu countries.
The whole thing was a mess but it's no longer an issue these days as far as I know.
Still is if you buy a blu ray with region differences. it’s mainly not an issue due to streaming but somethings are blocked in other countries hence the growth in VPN. I assume it was to control piracy and price
One Glasgow Football club you may not have heard of, was a team called Third Lanark. They won the Scottish Cup 3 times, & both the old 2nd & 1st Divisions many years ago. They were formed by Scotland's Third Lanarkshire Fusiliers (Rifle brigade sports section) Alas, in their final years in the Scottish league div' 2, they had an unscrupulous Chairman who sold most of their best players & refused to invest in players & the Stadium. This was back in 1967 when 3rd Lanark had their last season in Scottish division 2, ending up bottom of the table. I think the remains of the Stadium are set in woods/forest somewhere in Glasgow.
Such a shame that some clubs are ruined by such unscrupulous characters that only care about lining their own pockets.
It's still going on now with other clubs lower down the Football pyramid in danger of going the same way. Bury are one club that've gone. Southend United could b next,& Darlington aren't far behind either. They're now in National league 1

There seems to be shit tonnes of clansman’s. One used to be my local, and no I’ve moved 300 miles north, once again the Clansman is my local. Scottish clans are a big thing across the Atlantic, not so much here. They all have a badge a wee bit like that of Boaby’s pub.

Celtic Park tour is the best. If you go to Hampden the alishan Indian on battlefield rd is a fab place for food.
