- Here is a new video !!
This is a "Nord" forgotten model train produced by Jep (Jouets De Paris) around 1950.
It's my very first electric train restoration and it t was a very challenging task...
In spite of all my efforts I couldn't get more than 13 volts instead of the 20 volts required to see that beautiful motor running well... I think the rotor has to be replaced, if you have any idea just let me know !
Please watch till the end to see this rare Jep autorail in action !
By supporting the channel you help me make more of these video and find more amazing items.
I hope you'll enjoy this restoration.
Thanks a lot for watching !

Just a tip that everyone may already know, but when replacing light bulbs of any size good to go back and wipe them clean with a soft tissue. Oils from skin can reflect and insulate heat unevenly shorting the bulb life.
Thanks that is very useful. Much appreciated 👍
I had a light bulb spontaneously explode into a million pieces while blow drying my hair. It was a regular bulb in the vanity and I was looking in the mirror and this bulb popped and sprayed glass everywhere.
Here is another piece of advice to add to that. When replacing a bulb, you can also wear gloves while doing so.
@@patrickd.3681 and then proceed to wipe the bulb clean for good measure and probably just for the hell of it
This is especially true for halogen bulbs.
As an old person in my mid eighties I used to enjoy resurrecting old toys as a boy and I love to see these videos bring something back to life, ah the memories of days gone by; keep up the good work it's something rare these days.
Awesome job! Love seeing those old trains come back to life. The old motors are work horses, will run forever with care like you provide.
I'm 54 years old and I giggled with delight like a little boy when you got the motor running and took it for a spin. Cheers. Great job 😃
Thank you very much ! Glad you enjoyed 😃🙏

I love seeing you rescue and restore old trains 🚂🚃🚃🚃
My grandfather had the same JEP railcar. Thank you for this magnificent restoration, it's as if for a moment you had brought it back...❤
Don't worry he is in a better place now 😞😞😞
I meant 😔😔😔 those emojis
It’s lovely to see these old forgotten toys given a new lease of life! Wonderful!
Thanks a lot 🙏
Talented work, patience is needed
Astounding craftsmanship and patience, especially building a forge to make a new air-horn.
It is so inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing. It looks this easy on a movie... but the only the one who tried this stuff knows how hard and painful this could be. Keep it up!
I like how it just turns from a non-working abandoned model train to a working model train after restoring it. On the plus side now you have a new (old but restored) model train. Good work on restoring it.
Thank you !! 😀👍
Watching several restorations. This person doesn't have all the fancy tools but, his knowledge and care are evedent. Shows what we can do with minimal investment. Keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot Karen 😌🙌
I watch a lot of restoration channels, not the fake ones, but there's something about old toy restorations. I'm 49 born in 73 so these are before my time, or my parents' pocket, but they are fascinating to watch. Thank you 😊
Thanks to you too for watching and commenting.👍👍👍
I really enjoy watching your videos your attention to detail is amazing. Thanks
Thank you very much 🙏
Your skill amazes me. Proper toys, and a screen in sight.
Pure madness ! The way you have regiven life to that electric toy is incredible.
You are absolutely incredible at what you do and the attention and love you give to each piece. You are so patient and very much a perfectionist in an imperfect world.
Another stunning result.
I watch many restoration channels here on CZcams, but this is one of the most complex restoration of a toy.
the result is more than wonderful.
from the time when things were made to last a lifetime, this toy has received a new life.
even though I am almost 50 years old, I look at such a thing with pleasure and I don't shy away from buying it because I have such a wonderful opportunity.
Bravo.
Thank you so much 😌🙏
Just imagine how much fun kids from that time had with that locomotive. It's electric, and you even can see how motor works.
You are an engineering arts craftsman genius. I was clapping when you finally got this unit electrically running! I really enjoyed watching you restore on this project. 👍✅⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you very much Harold ! Glad you enjoyed 😌😃
In a throw-away world it is refreshing to see artisans and craftsmen who place a value on the ingenious creations of the past , knowing that their intrinsic value to the young and old , is ageless ! As a 75 year old I remember many toys like this from my youth and will always value them !!!
Thanks a lot !! Glad you enjoyed 😌🙌 I’m always trying to save old things :)
That’s so beautiful! Reminded me of my childhood in the 1960s.
I just imagine you making these toys for when your grandkids come to visit. I don’t know if you even have those, but it has that nice feeling to it. I’ll make my own kids some cool toys from time to time and they love it. Can’t wait to see my grandchildren in a few decades and me showing them some cool stuff I made.
It is wonderful that there are always people who do not want to forget the memory of the inventive spirit of times gone by.
A blessing in this fast-moving and hectic world.
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed watching you restore this item. You definitely have a great skill and patience. Thank you for sharing. Peace, Lou Grossi
That was an outstanding video, very very impressive from start to finish, thank you....
Thanks a lot Paul 🙏
I really like this video
bttnt
Love watching your videos...
Will probably watch this one again !!!!
The molding of the replacement horn was the highlight for me
Beautiful job. The time and the talent involved Is beyond compensation.
Those must have been expensive toys in their day. Build quality is top notch.
Yet another absolutely beautiful restoration
TOP work as usual !!! thank you for your great video!!!!
Thanks again !!! 😉
what you are doing is art! its very satisfying to watch your videos
Glad you enjoyed ! Thanks a lot 👍
Nice! The new pot-metal castings were a nice touch.
Excellent workmanship
This is my second viewing . It's more gorgeous than the first time !
Oh wow thank you so much ! Maybe you should try a 3rd 😅
I enjoying your work and videos, but I also like seeing toys that are different from the ones that I had as a kid growing up in the USA.
Same here!
It's still great the quality of his toys for the time
Always a pleasure to see a restoration master at work
Many thanks Luis 😌🙌
I love it …… no talking just construction sounds
Well done on this steel train
I somehow missed this video when it was first posted. I am amazed at the amount of effort and care that goes into these restorations. My favorite part was the casting of the replacement horn -- so much work for a small detail. Thank-you for this!
Thanks a lot William 🙌
Wow! It turned out sooo pretty. You did a fantastic job. Beautiful toy, it has a superb shape and everyone who sees it will like it.
Epoxy spray!!! Never have I seen. Very cool.
Sir, I can feel the LOVE you put in returning to life this really cute model train. Congratulations for your art of preserving.
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed, it’s so satisfying to bring the memories back 😌🙌
That is a remarkable restoration! It turned out very well! Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you !!! 😃🙌
You say thanks for watching. I say, thanks for the brilliant video and the superb workmanship, culminating in the toy running on its track, looking as it did on the day it was made
I say again: thank you for watching ! 🙂but also for commenting ! Glad you liked this video 👍
Hi dear Greg. It was an epic show. You are the locomotive king 😊🤗
It's me, the same person from Russia, and I'm writing through a translator again....
This is a great video, you're cool at restoring things, besides, I really love trains and everything connected with them. I'm sure I'm not the only person watching you from Russia.
Awesome, thank you!
magnifique travail. d artiste--superbe
That is so cool. I like seeing old stuff fixed up and reused great job brother
I love your restorations I found you on CZcams and your very talented thanks for your awesome restorations
Thank you ! 🙌
A lot of work and knowledge to do it. Love to see these old trains look good and run again.👌👌
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you 🙏
Nice to see you fixed the motor in the end
That turned out beautifully. Well done.
That restoration had me hooked from the word go right through to the end. I was surprised you hadn't tested the motor but it performed well after a bit of work. Very nice train.
Quedo PRECIOSO. FELICITACIONES.
That was a fantastic restoration! You did a great job on it. Thanks!
By far the best restoration job I have seen. Well done 👏👏👏👏👏
Wow David thank you so much ! 😌 🙌
I didn’t know I “needed” your channel until I stumbled across it by accident in my feed. Love it. And I think you’re wearing my sweater…
Haha 😁👍🏻Thanks a lot Mike 🙌
That train most likely spent years and years in someone's attic, basement or garage deteriorating. Then here you come and show it TLC something it hasn't seen for decades and bring it back to it's former glory. Beautiful job
Thank you !! 🙏
Oh,yes ,like a true master you did'it !!! Amazing work, good job and so relaxing watching your videos !!! 👍👍👍❤❤❤👌👌👌
Thank you so much John. I’m glad you enjoyed 😌👍🏻
Incredible!!! When you found the pen cap, I just burst out laughing!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
😃 Very commonly used by restorators 🤨
Oh IPA, that is how you clean a motors, thank you.
Outstanding !! I have untold hours into my "barn find" pre-war Lionel Train. It now sits on my Fireplace Mantel. Absolutely gorgeous train ! And Yes, it does now run !
They are the brushes that are in my 1960 Hornby Dublo A4 OO gauge engine. Still going strong after 62 years.
Love the toy renovations the bead blasting looks very satisfying to do.
I love a perfectionist! Beautiful work.
Very good work! Those old AC motors can take a real beating and still be brought back to life. I'm converting a number of older Maerklin loks to DC with DCC decoders. You're restoring former glory, I'm just upgrading, but I do enjoy seeing your work.
Thanks a lot Michael, I’ll try to get some more electric trains...
It doesn't look like an AC induction motor. It has a full bridge rectifier as well as a DC commutator. Instead of a permanent magnet, it uses an electromagnet.
Glad to see you reuse the cloth wire.
A very satisfying activity! I have the tools and skills; now to allocate the time with my younger grandson! Thanks for the inspiration! Great job!
I hope you’ll find the time 😉
The before look was sad to look at ,But the way it's been given a second window of life is terrific ,A Sterling Job even if all the little bitty parts fiddly as they look are amazing to look at what comes out of a classic Tin model ,Love the finished project ❤️❤️❤️Repair Shop for Classic model Trains ,Planes ,Boats and Automobiles ❤️❤️❤️🚂🚂🚂🚂Great use of your Tools also to show us what is under this .
Sooo cooool restoration project! Congratulations 🎊
Amazing skills good job.
Master!!! In your hands, the whole ruined toys become Lazarus!!! Thanks a lot for this! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏼♥️
Thank you !! 😀👍
I love seeing this kind of work done. Beautiful job.
It's so good to see a genuine neglected toy being given some love. There's too many try-hard "restorers" whose toy has obviously been artificially aged and damaged just for content.
Love your work! :)
You're a magician!! Wow!
Wow!!! Felicitaciones y admiro tu trabajo y talento infinito. Saludos desde Sudamérica, Argentina.
Muchas gracias. ¡Sí, es un trabajo de varias semanas! 😉
THAT IS ONE OF THE COOLEST TRAINS I'VE EVER SAW!!!! Very good restauration. I liked how you repaired the motor. I liked how you improvised when was needed. I think you have a lot of talent. Succes in everything you do!!!
Greetings from Romania🇷🇴
Wow thank you very much !!! 😃🙌
A lot of dedication here 👌 good job 👏
Many thanks mate 👋
What an absolute gem and full of gallic charm. But oh what a brute of an electric motor compared with todays models. A magnificent restoration and a loco worthy of any collection. I freely admit that if I attempted this I would end up with a couple of spare parts!!! Well done and thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much Chris 😌🙌
Aww man when it didn't work I felt so bad for you. Then you got it going! Great job
Many thanks Sherry 🙌
Hi, thanks for showing this restoration very interesting to watch your work again. It was good to see the motor could still work after all these years. Cheers, Paul.
Thanks a lot Paul. Glad you enjoyed it !
Excellent. Also, I really like your editing; we see just enough to see what's going on, without having to watch every single rivet polished (for example).
This is the first time i seen cotton buds used that way. How creative.
