Arlong isn't one of the seven warlords, it is mentioned that "Jinbei" ,who is also a fishman, is the warlord and Arlong despises that name.
He calls him a "government dog to an inferior master," presumably because the seven warlords serve the marines and world government who are typically humans.

Random thought, from someone who hasn't watched much one piece anime(100+ episodes tho). This review and live action made me realize something. Sanji fighting style is so obvious for someone who has been using hands to carry and protect food items. He dealt with barfight in the live action without dropping the tray he was carrying, and in his backstory, he got caught because he valued proper spices on his food over his own life. Fighting to him is secondary thing done just to protect food, so he wouldn't waste hands to throw punches. His hands are used to ensure food stays safe.
Sanji learned to fight from Zeff. Zeff's moniker before was red-leg because he fights with his feet because his hands are for preparing food.
In the later episodes when Sanji got his own bounty poster, he was nicknamed "black-leg Sanji" which sounds the same with Zeff's "red-leg". So why Sanji fights with kicks has something to do with what he learned from his mentor Zeff.
Like what above me said, he use kicks exclusively because he learned from Zeff, but also because he believes that a chef's hand should only be exclusively used to prepare food.
Also, Zeff got the Red Leg epitaph because supposedly his legs were dyed red by the blood of his foes.
Both of you are right, he learned from Jeff but also because a cook has to protect his hands (mentioned in the sea train going to Enies Lobby
Sanji's blade fighting is actually pretty good, mostly because he is so good at using cooking knives. However, it doesn't even compare to this kicks. And yeah Sanji values fighting way lower than his ability to cook and to simp on beautiful women.
Episode 7 was an emotional bunker buster. I cried when the music started playing. it was so well done.
I just realized. This also became one of the best "superhero" shows we had too. Think about it, Luffy saves Coby, the crew freed a whole village, defended a restaurant, helped Nami and actually inspired people to do good. 😁
Never call Luffy a hero. Heroes will share meat with others but Luffy wants to eat all the meat himself. Please note this is a running joke in the series and not a dig at you 😅

I love how there was zero reason for Luffy to save Koby or Kaya or the people at Baratie, but in his eyes, there was zero reason not to do it. That’s a true born hero, even if he’s a pirate

Good review! Just some points to correct, the 7 pirates you mentioned is referred to as warlord of the sea. They are given free reign to do illegal stuff as long as they stay on the government's side. Basically, like what Helmeppo said to Koby, they mostly do things for the government that the government would prefer not to do themselves so it does not tie back to them.
Arlong is not a warlord of the sea. He would hate to work for the government especially since they're the main reason the fishmen race is being discriminated. However, Jimbei who is also a fishman is a warlord. In one scene with Negumi, the marine official they pay to hide their crimes mentioned that Jimbei being a warlord as an example of how the government is trying their best to maintain the peace between the fishmen and humans. As you may remember, this angered Arlong because he thinks Jimbei is a fool who works as a goverment dog after what they did to fishmen.
At this point of time, the 7 Warlords of the Seas are way too strong for the Strawhat pirates. You may recall that Mihawk is also a Warlord and he's too strong for Zoro.
The world will get bigger once we got to the Grand Line where you will realize why they call it the pirate's graveyard. Stronger villains, more interesting island. I'm really excited on how they will adapt s2 cause knowing the islands they will have to visit next season, it will be harder to adapt but they made the 1st season work so I will put my trust to them though I still have some nitpicks as an anime and manga fan.😄
One Piece is absolutely perfect for animation, so yes, I agree, by all accounts, I did not think it should have worked as a live adaptation. That it did and did so well is actually incredible. I really hope it keeps doing well.

They don´t say it in the show but the reason Sanji only uses kicks when he fights is cause he doesn´t want to hurt his hands that he needs to cook. Just think is a pretty cool detail
As a one piece fan I had the same way of thinking xD saying nah one piece can't be the one that breaks the curse is way too hard and ....after watching season one I'm like fuck yeah Netflix you did it ! 😂😂
Yeah, it's pretty incredible. I never would have thought One Piece would break the curse.
Episode 7 and 8 plots in the anime is where 90% offandom accepted one piece, from there it kept getting better and better.

Same! I knew practically nothing about the anime, but I enjoyed this first season so much.
I am going on record in saying this is how a live action adaptation from an anime is to be done. Fist of the North, Cowboy Bebop, DragonBall, Golgo 13: The Professional, Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, Speed Racer were epic fails. This is coming from someone who never seen the anime at all.
I enjoyed how they ended the last episode. They took their time to conclude the seasons arcs and set up the next challenges. A good happy feeling at the end with a slight cliffhanger. Very well done and written show. Hard to say nowadays with other shows
I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed it as well, especially knowing very little about the anime and manga.

It wasn’t mentioned but, the reason Sanji doesn’t use his hands to fight is because he sees his hands as tools only for cooking. He could be a pretty good swordsman if he fought with his arms.

It only gets better and crazier and you need to hurry with the yu yu Hakusho it has one of the best tournament arcs in all anime

I really enjoyed the series and I read and love the Manga BUT the anime...*oof* I find it painful to watch. Mr. One-Piece-Luffy couldn't stretch as much as the anime stretches out their episodes. it's painful
They ruined Nami's story by having everyone hate her. That's because they have her go to Arlong whereas originally, Arlong abducted her and forced her to work for him. Nojiko got her tattoo to help Nami feel better. Seeing Nojiko hate Nami was weird and unpleasant, even more so than Nojiko's homely actress.
They shouldn't of had Arlong do all that talk about fishmen discrimination, he never brought that up originally and it ruins the fishmen arc. I'm surprised Oda allowed some of these changes.

Probably the worst anime to have a successful live action. Cowboy Bebop was way better even if it strayed.
Barely saw the anime before watching the show, but I really enjoyed this series.
