Also Zoro isn't "the fan favorite character" Luffy has never lost a character popularity poll, unlike a lot of anime protagonists.

That's in the Japanese only poll though. There was never really a poll for world wide, and certainly doesn't include new fans. Although personally I think Luffy will still win overall but might lose to Zoro depending on the group you ask.
@@niello5944 True, but even if it was global like 60% of One Piece fans are Japanese anyway so they'd heavily impact the vote.
There was a international popularity poll in 2021. Luffy won that one overall (with Zoro in second place) but in the results based on continents it showed that Luffy wasn't first in every region. In Middle-east and Africa for example, Zoro was first, Nami second and Luffy third. In Europe and Latin America & the Carribbean, Nami was first, Zoro second and Luffy third. In Oceania, Zoro is 5th and Luffy 6th.
Luffy dominates in the regions Asia, Japan, and North American. Zoro is second in Asia and Japan, and third in North America after Nami.

I believe this should be the right record for One piece “The original record was set in December 2014, earning the Guinness World Record for "The most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author" with 320,866,000 copies sold. Now, One Piece has set the record once again after having sold over 500,000 copies worldwide.”
And FYI, One piece is 1 of the only 2 book series sold over a half billion copies in modern era. The other book series is Harry Potter.
I’m one piece fan for 2 decades.. I started watching the anime since I was 9 years old girl…. I never stopped loving it. I remember as I was kid watching this anime, I fall in love with the Strawhats crew…They got me hooked on this journey since then.. It’s been a rollercoaster emotions, laughs, sad, crying, excited and hyped. 😊 It’s amazing.
People give a lot of credit to Oda's creative control, and I can see that. What doesn't get talked about enough in my opinion is the producer and the rest of the staff. Matt Owens is as big of a fan of One Piece as just about anyone out there. He didn't just know the source material well before working on this, but he knows the fans too (at least in the English speaking fan base). He talked about the series with Hasan, he joined for a Reverie stream (or two now?), and he does collabs with a bunch of one piece CZcamsrs.
I used to hide the fact that I played magic cards liked anime ..but played football and was running in the streets...so happy kids can be who they want to be unabated
For the color grading, could it be the device you're using? I recently found out that not everyone is seeing the coloring the same bc apparently Netflix formatted this to be shown on specific devices (not sure how true this is tho). But ppl were sharing clips of the show that were _way_ more vibrant than how I saw it.
My personal theory is that the lack of long nose on Usopp is foreshadowing how throughout the series, we find out that all of his "lies" tend to actually be true.
The Sogeking mask will definitely have the long nose. I'd be shocked if it didn't.
Mike saying something like world is in a weird state right now, and then we get OnePiece..was on point. This world needed some OnePiece in today's times, where even Anime Media is into depressed culture.
Correction:
1. Oda Guinness World Record is for the best selling manga under 1 author. not the longest manga under 1 author. there are many more longer manga under single author like legendary Kochikame, JJBA series and stuffs.
2. THat OP pilot called Romance Dawn that have Garp as Luffy main inspiration to be a great Pirate is not the 1st or original pilot for OP. that is ROmance Dawn version 2.0.
the original pilot manga for OP is ROmance Dawn v1 that have almost the same story that we got for OP manga chapter 01 where we have Shank as Luffy main inspiration.
you read it in Oda manga anthology called Monster. yes,, the same anime special that will animated later next year or so.
3. Romance Dawn v2 also the main reason why Garp wear that DOg hat. to hide his face, to hide the fact that the legendary Hero of the marine that show up early on OP season 1 is Luffy's Grandfather.
4. in the manga/anime, an inch of sea water do nothing to the DF users.
they will start to get weaken only if at least 1/3rd of the body submerged in the water. can check the SBS for that explanation.

59:50 Yes and no. There are *multiple* versions of Romance Dawn. One of which is the first arc of the actual One Piece series.

1:43:17 They *did* explain it. Multiple times. Luffy said it in his very first scene “I pretty much can’t swim” and Makino explained it when she was talking to Young Luffy about devil fruits
HxH's manga is unfortunately on a indefinite hiatus, the author's back is in a super bad situation to where he cant sit in a chair well. Also he is kinda paranoid/perfectionist and fired his supporting staff because he felt no one could do it as he wanted leading to over work and poor health. This was also right after the Berserk mangaka passed away which was a wake up call to alot of the authors to take better care of themselves. Though the work situation for manga/anime artist biz is also EXTREMELY POOR and underpaid.
One Piece has around 200 total episodes of filler (compared to naruto being 51% filler lol), but episodes in general are often stretched out (pun intended) as to cover less manga chapters per episode or straight up just recap weeks after large events happen, because they are rly trying not to catch upto the manga and have to make filler.
One Pace is debatable, its not exactly trying to remove all filler and be just like the manga they cut what ever its creators deem not worth it, while others do enjoy those extra scene's, so some argue onepace can sometimes strip quite a bit of scene's of world building.
Emily is also a huge anime fan and Nami was a dream role for her.
Makenyu before OPLA was in the LA Heroni Kenshin and JoJo part 4 that many considered the best 2 anime LA. But he is also quite a popular model with a large fan base all over asia.

You have a great point about Oda-sensei writing something like the Bible, the number of Chekov's Guns in One Piece is like the Bible's massive intertextuality (and the kanji puns thing is like the gematria of why certain words are used in the Bible)

2:00:11 I understand what Colin meant there...really on point..It was already transcending the Shonen genre, and with what Oda did here like Colin mentioned..it went beyond and still in spirit of OnePiece.

Funnily enough, no actually. Bleach is probably the biggest example of a shonen anime with a main character that doesn't suffer from a lot of the weird shonen protagonist stereotypes like eating a lot and being overly enthusiastic.

Those who had recently joined, had not joined too late, for we all can still fall in love together, talk and cherish together, and will soon celebrate the conclusion of this tale, as the author of the tale intended to. We all will gather, with our sake and beer, the whole world ajoined together, in anticipation, for this one moment, as we celebrate the birth of an epic tale into humanity list of Mahayana-level epic tales.
not sure if its canon but there is a crossover episode between one piece and the gourmet food hunting anime toriko. which makes sense as toriko is more based on land which would work if it was on the land strip between the oceans.

I mean all the male characters get significantly bigger, get scras and more muscular anyways. But Nami? IF they get there, it will be hard sell

35:30 Even without One Pace Arlong Park shouldn't be ep. 70 it's not even ep. 50 it's like 30 or 40 something. I don't know what you were watching that it was stretched out to ep 70. And there aren't any filler episodes that early in the series everything's canon until after the East Blue Saga.

I didn’t like what they did with the Syrup Village Arc. Kuro’s plan doesn’t make any sense in the live action version, and they took away Usopp’s heroic moments

Yeah people just don't understand that "seinen" is literally just the next age bracket up from "shonen", tone has nothing to do with it. They just assume all seinen is edgy because its for adult men instead of young boys
i always love it been my whole life love the Manga and Anime. I am 43 this year so I was in my teenager years. Plus out sold Spiderman and Batman leaving Superman plus it out sold even Harry Potter.

The core cast of Netflix's Cowboy Bebop, Spike, Jett, and Faye are all on point and do some great work. The show is just wrong, though. The core cast just has no way of bringing the soul of the original to the rest of the show. The soundtrack from the original is perfect, and almost all of it is just not there. There's way too much hollow parroting of the original that utterly fails to understand the point of the scenes they're mimicking. The biggest problem, though, is that it just has no interest in establishing the world of the original, likely because Cowboy Bebop is aggressively anti corporate and anti capitalist. The Netflix version is just too optimistic to actually be Cowboy Bebop. I mean, the entire premise suggests there are a lot of problems in this setting. You don't allow any rando to hunt bounties using guns and space fighters in populated city centers if everything is going great.

My entry point for anime was 2015 and I was just looking for random shows to watch on the internet. A few webseries later and I discovered anime. One Piece was the 3rd anime I ever watched.
I came into it expecting a silly cartoon but in less than 40 chapters I realized I discovered something special
Imagine if this live action show lasted for years, and they try adapting Gear 5.

i never heard or read anywhere where Oda said that Zoro might be 10x times stronger than Luffy at that moment when they 1st met.
nor Oda ever claimed that Zoro was stronger than Luffy at any point in the story.
and time to time again, Oda always making sure Luffy will fought the strongest antagonist of the arc and Zoro will fight the no.2.
Oda also made sure that after Mihawk, The Strongest Swordsman in the World, the no.1 swordsman, said to Luffy after he, Mihawk defeated ZOro, "becoming PK is far harder than defeating me(Mihawk)"...
yeah, Luffy's goal is harder and greater than Zoro.
also. UNLIKE the live action, Luffy is very strong since chapter1 or episode 1. he was called monster since beginning due to his df power and monstrous strength.
no villains in East Blue came even close to his physical strength including Arlong and Don Krieg.
in th emanga/anime, Oda always making sure that something or somebody got in the way of Luffy fighting and defeating the main antagonist of the arc including Arlong.
Arlong only chances fighting Luffy was they were fighting around body of water and Arlong access to sharp weapons. and off course, Luffy's stupidity, always stuck somewhere etc.

Read manga for better if you watch anime after 300 you will know episode are getting too long
Why Cowboy Bebop failed - it changed characters that were fundamental to the original. and the writers tried to insert their woke propaganda onto characters and it just felt like vandalism.
Philosophically speaking, Vicious and Julia were like Spikes good and evil sides, his conflict, yet the adaptation botched that, it threw in a load of trashy woke ideology and nobody liked it. They also botched just about every character they adapted and this was just offensive to anyone that was a fan of the original.
Original Vicious was cold, stoic, nihilistic sadistic ruthless and cynical, dangerous, every scene you saw him in people died, in this adaptation he became a emotional wuss manipulated by Julia...
And Julia had an innocent wishful optimism, had a moral compass and compassion and optimistic views on life despite how tragic the world seemed, in the adaptation she became a power hungry manipulative boss babe.
adaptation - Spike's relationship with the 2 got completely messed up, and it was just disrespectful vandalism upon the original.
also other characters just didn't resemble their original counterparts or just hit a bum note, like Faye, Gwen and Teddy Bomber. We DIDNT NEED woke ideology propaganda imprinted on them.
I had no problem with Spikes actor being a bit too old to pull of Bruce Lee fighting style and Jets actor was AWESOME at being Jet, and the world looked FINE, I had no issue with the whole Sci-fi future world with travelling across planets on ships... but the characters of the show did NOT resemble Bebop and it was truly sad how they basically let disrespectful writers sabotage and vandalise Cowboy Bebop with terrible propaganda.
ONE PIECE - Oda retained creative freedom, so he made sure they didn't let any terrorist-level hack-job writers ruin his life's work.
If you want to tackle the anime without the filters, watch One Pace. It's a fan edit of the series that cuts out the filter episodes and splices together anything that they had that was Canon.

Love that you guys brought up Koby's actor being trans, because imo, that's probably the cleverest piece of casting in the entire show, given the transformation that Koby undergoes over the course of the manga series. Hollywood has decades of practice finding baby-faced twenty-somethings who can play teenagers - but it's historically been assumed to be impossible to find a baby-faced twenty-something who is still *actually* going through puberty. I think it's awesome to see more trans actors in mainstream works in general, just in the sense that it's great to see more diversity onscreen, but I also think that it's especially cool that, by casting historically underrepresented groups like trans people, there are also things now that are possible (including in roles that are not specifically trans roles!) that just wouldn't be possible if you were only casting cis actors. With the combined forces of clever makeup and costuming, along with the passage of real world years on T (after all, it'll take at least another full year before we get season 2, and lord even knows how long until we get to SWORD, if we ever do), I 100% anticipate the live action Koby having a really cool physical transformation very akin to his transformation in the manga, which is something I never thought would be possible in a live action show. Just goes to show that diversity is a win/win!

1:01:00 No, it’s actually pretty close to the live action show. What happened was Helmeppo brought a dog into the tavern and the little girl tried to stop the dog from misbehaving, but Helmeppo tried to punish her for touching his dog, and Zoro defends her, then agrees to a deal with Helmeppo that he’ll be tied up for a month without food and he’ll let the girl go. The riceball thing happens when she sneaks into the yard to feed him.
That nami scene hit more in anime
