The weakness of devil fruit users to “water” is in two ways; Sea water makes them lose their stamina rapidly. They are “rejected” by the sea and therefore exposure to seawater makes them lose their stamina.

In general I do not think the platform itself should have any input on the creation of the content. I do not care how big their publishing arm is. I wish Netflix would do this for all of their originals. It does Nflix more good than bad to remove themselves from the reins. Hope they get the picture now.

I'm kinda bummed out that they didn't do the scene between Along and Zoro. The one when Arlong holds Zoro and sees his massive wound. The terrified look Arlong had in manga and anime, and the line where he says something like "How the hell are you alive" hits really hard.
It worked so well since at that point Arlong was shown way above all of the straw hats level.

I think the only thing I felt they could have done better was strengthen Usopp's role in Syrup village. The original had pirates beating the crap out of him as he tried to stall them from getting to the village.
It's also nice to note that Oda did point out that if we were to consider ethnicity, he did envision Luffy to be Brazillian. This sort of tracks if you consider Dragon's skin tone.

I believe Oda specifically talked about nationalities, not ethnicities.
Saying Brazilian it's like saying American, these countries are way too young to be used as ethnicities, both have whites, blacks, asians, natives, mixed, etc. Which one is it when he said Brazilian? Which one would it be when someone says American?

    • @ImAviex
      @ImAviex Před 10 měsíci +2

@@NneonNTJ Yeah but the point is in Syrup Village Usopp's goal was to make it so "The pirates were coming." was still a lie and refused to let it come true, he put his body on the line to protect Kaya and the village. Where in the LA he's kind of just there, he shoots one time at Kuro and stays with Kaya who doesn't believe him until Nami shows up and echoes what he said. Also the breakneck speed they did the first couple episodes made it so they had to jamfist Zoro's backstory into Syrup Village making it feel more like his arc than Usopps. I agree it has to be condensed but if they didn't force an awful b plot with the entire garp coby helmeppo saga they would have had more than enough time to better flesh out the straw hats and their moments.

Since Angry Joe asked for an explanation: Basically, if you eat a cursed fruit, you lose buoyancy, your powers are supposed to stop working (though this is inconsistent) and you can't swim. Also, being immersed in non-salt water can greatly weaken you (There's some hilarious images of Luffy looking drained while taking a bath.) However, you can get splashed with regular water and be fine. Depth also matters: it's a little inconsistent, but as long as it's only waist high, Luffy is usually fine.

"Losing powers" is too vague, because there are several characters who retain passive traits of their powers despite being influenced by the water. For instance Luffy can still stretch though submerged and Chopper doesn't revert to just being a reindeer. Logias though for instance have all their powers shut down.
Secondly it's 100% true that ANY WATER, salt or fresh water can affect fruit users (e.g. Luffy got affected by the rising water in Rainbase, which is fresh lake water), this is very literally told by Oda in the question corners of the manga, the key is whether they are significantly submerged or not. Showers or rain for instance canonically don't weaken them, but in Enies Lobby Nami noted that Kalifa should be weakened when she was playing in her bathtub.

The adaptations to Usopp's arc definitely made it so only his negative side ('boy who cried wolf') was given screen time. There is a whole different side of him that basically shows how lies are his way of life to deal with his own cowardice. He makes up ridiculous lies ('I have an army of a thousand followers!') which he then uses to trick his opponents and slowly gain an edge in the midst of a conflict... but unfortunately the way his arc was heavily modified he basically did nothing in his own arc, which was very unfortunate.

He is definitely the least developed of the Strawhat crew so far but I think it's not a big issue. Oda has already said that they're really committed to fully fleshing out the characters and their backstories. Nami was definitely the central focus of this season but in the near future we're going to be getting more Usopp development (I'm guessing you know what's coming up) and the creators might have simply pushed some of his development later into the storyline since they are re-ordering a lot of stuff for pacing purposes.

I've watched the first season in one day. First 5 minutes are so cringe, it hurt to watch. Gol d. Roger's execution exposed the low budget hiring and much more. Tho the more, it came in every episode. Really bad camera work, mediocre directorship. Actors are like if you go to a anime expo and hire the cosplayers. The acting is really mediocre. B or C actors Mostly. Diversity hires, transgender Koby and more.
Zoro is good, but acts like post time skip, and not pre time skip. luffy, tho, 10 shades more brown, a Mexican, is likeable...kinda. Its not luffy, its like a ´more childish less serious luffy (during fights especially) Buggy's actor is top tier, perhaps the best actor in the whole show.
Also, the animators are good. But what really shines are the props - everything in the series feels like one piece. Boats, world, places houses, rooms, furniture, items, books....
Acting is the weakest part. And to me, I hate diversity hires. If you have a transgender in the show, have him/her cause they Are good, and not BECAUSE they are trans. Damn...The trans that plays Koby is the weakest actor there. I could act Koby better, and I look more like Sanji got a cut, dammit
This show, according to what I saw, could have been a legendary 10/10 adaptation. As it is rn, it's like a 5 or 6/10. But... It could have been also dragon ball evolution or death note movie bad, so....its not that bad.
How to have made it better:
      Leave out the Koby "actor"
Give Garp a serious tone, not this British tea drinking gay sounding guy
Make Luffy more serious during fights and give him -10 shades of brown (sorry Godoy, not sorry) 14:44 Alex :D
Nami should lose belly fat and get a proper wig, not this orange mop
Zoro needs to be pre time skip, not post time skip in S1 (you kidding me?)
Give Buggy actor and the props people a damn raise!
Ambient sound during dialogues is sometimes completely off, especially during the Geko island visit
Give Usopp a damn nose - the guy playing him has such a small nose, I constantly see white Michael Jackson in brown with buff arms
Shanks needs to be charismatic, not feel like your neighborhood candy shop owner who likes apples and kids
      etc etc etc

They hit the key notes of this part of the story, and changed bits when they had to condense. Many of them were great. I personally didn't miss the Don Krieg fight because he wasn't that impressive. That said, from my perspective, the key point of Don Krieg was to SHOW how brutal the Grand Line can be. So, downside is we lose that story note. However, if we get a Season 2, they're going to have to figure out another way to bring in that note since the Straw Hats will be going into the Grand Line.

To clarify how the Devil Fruits work; you gain incredible powers that are immeasurable but you are cursed and hated by the sea and lose the ability to swim. Due to the nature of the fruits you gain powers like fire, lightning, darkness, rubber, think of anything with your imagination and it could be a power. Once a devil fruit eater dies their devil fruit power and all the knowledge the user has obtained about that fruit is regrown randomly in the world. And anyone can find it again and eat it, or even sell it.
There are also three types of devil fruits; Zoan, Logia, Paramecia
Zoan types; zoan type fruites allows the users to transform into an animal at will. Or if an animal eats a zoan, they will be half human/animal with powers. (Luffy, Chopper)
Logia; Logia type fruits are the rarest type. These fruits allow the user to transform into a natural element, like smoke or fire. (Cap. Smoker, Fire Fist Ace)
Paramecia; paramecia fruits allow the user to unlock the ability to become super human, or achieve superhuman like feats. (Big Mom, Boa Hancock, Charlotte Katakuri)
Later on in the series the devil fruits are able to be manufactured. But these fruits are discounts and aren't as strong as real devil fruits.
The strangest thing about the devil fruits. Is that despite all the knowledge and how well known they are on the Grand Line and The New World. The origins of where they come from are still unknown.

The problem with naming attacks is the same that adaptations of Spiderman have--lengthy talking mid-fight can work in a comic or animation, when it's easy to have a big speech bubble or use visual tricks to have 10-second disgressions in the middle of a fight. It doesn't work so well in live-action, unless you can contrive a reason everyone stops fighting for a few seconds.

One Piece is my favorite anime, tied with Fullmetal, and after seeing what Netflix did to that, Bebop, Death Note, and so many others, I was terrified of what this was going to become, even with Oda's involvement. When I say that my expectations were shattered, that's an understatement. This series landed so brilliantly. The actors, most of them, captured the spirit of their characters so well, and the writing, action, choreography, and so much else was done so well. I'm not happy with all the changes they made, particularly introducing Garp so early instead of Smoker, and blowing the reveal of his relationship with Luffy, but I accept the limitations of the medium, and the fact that the original sources still exist allow me to buy in because it's so well done. My favorite part of this entire success story, however, is watching people like Joe and OJ who have almost no experience with anime want to pick up the series and explore more of the genre. @MalonzeProductionsGaming they cut alot of stuff which i think is quite needed for Sanji .. his entire push to join was cut out , in the show he just Joins. When Coby is getting more screen time then Sanji/usopp you know something is off. Still like the show but i have my gripes.

the shorter anime is called One Pace.
and it cuts all the stuff older anime dose to not catch up with the manga while it's still on going because a good anime episodes would be 2 chapters of manga(more or less it depends)
my recommendation for anyone who want to get into one piece is either one pace for the anime or colored version of the manga.

The soundtrack is actually amazing in this show and from what I can tell it’s an original soundtrack they didn’t just recycle the music from the anime. My favorite track is the fight between zoro and mihawk. That song is so good and the guitar was the best part.

@@enternamehere142 I honestly feel like Oda Sensei draws it in a very bright, whimsical, & colorful way because our portal to the world of One Piece is through Luffy and the Strawhats who bring joy, hope, and light to an otherwise very dark, brutal, and unforgiving world.
He has never stated that outright because he wants everyone to draw their own conclusions to the meaning and themes of the stories he tells, but he has definitely confirmed the art style was always a very intentional choice on his part.

Characters like Usopp are important to display the disparity in strength between the monster trio (Luffy, Zoro, Sanji) and normal people.
If there wasn't someone like him around, their overpowered nature would feel too normalized.

31:04 It definitely works better in the anime. They changed quite a bit of her backstory. In the original story, she told Nojiko about her deal with Arlong almost immediately after making the deal, and Nojiko secretly tells the villagers, so they pretend to not know, acting like they hate her for betraying them, all so she doesn’t feel like she let them down if she can’t/doesn’t hold up her end of the deal. Plus, in the anime/manga, it was Arlong that *took* her after seeing a map that she drew, whereas in the live action version, he didn’t even know about her taken in cartography until *she* went to *him* and *showed* him one of her maps.

I could understand why they did that, though. It doesn't change Nami as a character and Emily Rudd still delivered on the "Help me" scene, so I was happy overall. What bothered me more was Luffy listening to her backstory, which I think does change his character a bit. Anime Luffy was going to help Nami regardless, but hearing her backstory to know she was a good person means he may not have helped her if she didn't turn out to be.

Lotr was another ip i loved and they ignored the source material while one piece embraced the source material and look how amazing it turned out!

One Piece on Netflix is a fine side thing that is funny to watch when you are already up to date with the anime :D
One thing to add as a thing they should have looked more into is to use the music from the anime at the right times. The episode seems to lack the core music moment clips which live up the atmosphere around the situation its happening in. IDK if it's because they cant get the music because of copyrights?

The Live Adaptation covers roughly 100 chapters, so naturally a lot had to be skipped, so I would recommend the manga heavily. Even reading it from the beginning is a great idea because there was honestly a LOT left out and some major changes even that you might have fun reading the alternate versions of.
