In Invincible there are a lot of people that Mark Fights, and while we will be explaining the short fight he has against Atom Eve later on in the comics, when series creator Robert Kirkman sat down to talk about the series and he was ASKED who would win in a real fight between Atom Eve and Invincible, he starts by saying that no matter what the situation was he doesn’t think Mark could effectively fight against Atom eve since from a mental standpoint it’s just not something that he’s willing to do especially after all of the ways that he’s seen her suffer more or less because of him, however beyond that the author takes note of Atom Eve’s powers and her ability to pretty much control matter itself paired with the fact that Atom Eve can just keep bringing herself back to life completely healed no matter what Mark does to her, pretty much makes it IMPOSSIBLE for him to win even if he tried, and you know what they say, if you can’t beat em, join em.

Yet everyone throws that out whenever the issue is her dropping Mark after 5 years is brought up. Which sucks more when you recall he only got back because of his future friends including a very heartbroken Eve. That Eve was ride or die, the one our mark got was meh it's been the equivalent of week in Viltrumite time and the equivalent of infinitely no time to me so time to hop on the first alien I see.

@@Cpruetti mean, eve has lived like a human. So she perceives time like one. It was 5 years Mark was gone and she really believed he had died. Supposedly she didn't start dating until 4 years passed (1 year before Mark came back). I don't think it's unreasonable for her to try dating again after 4 years.

Yeah, honestly, she’s one of the most broken characters, even in the early days she far surpasses of a members of the Tean team and could’ve easily been one of the original members of the guardians of the globe she was a bit older
She is in some ways a better version of firestorm but weaker in some ways. toward the end of the comics. She proven to be a threat even to mark if she went all out and put thought into her actions.

It’s only a temporary solution, it can’t permanently defeat her.

Alternate mark in the show demonstrates pretty much the only way mark could beat her: paralyzing her. This way she never dies and comes back healed although eventually she would die of old age and he'd have to battle her again.
What's stopping mark from just dragging her into space and choking her out? Or knocking her out and throwing her into a volcano or the sun?
The only way she wins the fight however is if you consider your opponent dying of old age as winning, but thats like saying you would lose to a random rat you saw on the streets in a fight because it outlives you

Actually, Eve has been killed by every single version of evil marks(even Mohawk mark killed her). Eve's powers allow her to fully restore her if shes near death and only when shes near death(it also takes alot of time for this to happen though). Shaved head Eve was paralyzed but she couldnt regenerate because it wasnt bear death. Her heart was beating and she was fine aside from the neck down(basically no damage and her powers wouldnt activate)
Doesn’t always take a lot of time, it switched on pretty much instantly right after mark was damn near killed by that one big mf

Technically she can die, if she gets an insta kill like a head shot or something like that, because like it is said in the comics, while she is still alive, she is able to use her powers on organic matter, so pretty much just cut her head off and you’ll be good

Her powers automatically trigger when she’s about to die. Even if she were to die of old age, her powers would activate and rebuild her body to be young again. She has no choice in the matter, it’s just a fact of how things work.
Which is actually kinda sad because Eve will still be around after all of her friends and family have died, even Mark.

like what if she gets shot in the head and at the exact millisecond that the bullet touches the brain, her powers kick in and she heals.

Actually answered in the comics. They have a kid and she only has mark's powers as viltrimite DNA is so potent that it will completely dominate the other parent leaving only slight traces of their genetics, this includes eve's DNA that could potentially carry on her powers

Unless he throws her into the sun, Mark can't survive for long under the heat and pressure of the sun, but he can get in and out of there.
The sun will constantly cause her agony, because of the constant regeneration and destruction. And her powers are based on her metabolism, so constant regeneration and lack of food, that candle will just melt and burn out.
She can manipulate atoms, to which she can just constantly feed herself. Also you don’t really need a source of food if you’re regenerating. You’ll just be hungry. Also, she could explode the sun killing mark instantly, as the sun itself is made of atoms. There’s no way technically to kill atom eve unless u have a magic device that sustains her powers to the point where she’s killable.
Her powers are mental, without the brain intact she acnt trigger her powers.
You wouldn’t even need to do that I don’t think, just throw her into space, she’d just suffocate.

I know its a very unlikely scenerio and its at the end of the series when Mark is at his best but he could just toss her into the sun. Cant regenerate if you have no atoms to regenerate from.
Yeah, but we see that evil versions of invincible do kill Eve. So our Mark's inability to kill Eve is due to sentiment not power. He could pop her head like a balloon before she could blink.
She only bounces back from near fatal injuries. If he goes for a true deathblow (pop her head like a balloon) then that special ability of hers is worthless.
As the writer just noted, there is an immense speed gap.

Eves biggest weakness is her mental limit. We have not seen her overcome that in the show yet, so until she does mark wins
When fighting an immortal, just incapacitate them.
Unfortunately, she is not completely immortal as most people think. Her body can regenerate as long as her brain registers the damage happening to her before the impact. But cases like walking down the street on a seemingly normal day and a hidden sniper from far away blasts her head off from nowhere will instantly kill her off and no regeneration will take place as the brain didn't register the impact.
I guess Mark Graysons of other universes knew this "plothole" of Eve and decided to end her cuz she was almost the only one preventing him and the Viltrumite empire to conquer earth 😢
How is her brain going to register damage before it happens to her? If it’s not yet happening there is no damage for it to register.

Answers in terms of the series and character motivation, not the situation which is probably just accounting for skills/abilities. Also, yes to the second part, but if guys like Wolverine and Deadpool can die (who might not have the same but similar healing abilities), there’s a way to kill Eve too

Pretty sure all Eves can be scarred. The only time she can manipulate organic matter is near death or going through extreme emotional trauma. It's possible that other Eve just didn't experience either.

Being immortal doesn't mean you win the fight. it just means you can never truly lose the war. And even then, Mark has shown that there are ways to stop her without killing her so her powers wouldn't step in to resurrect her

When alternative Mark snapped her neck, I think he may have just made her essentially brain dead, that's probably the only effective way he could stop her and kill her. Our Mark probably wouldn't be that cruel, so we wouldn't see him win.
she is the dps/support. she goes last and her heals only work when she dies, but she can keep bringing everyone on her side back stronger until they win.

Invincible can and has beat Eve. Kirkman was making a theoretical claim, being if she had enough time to "charge up", but acknowledged that due to the immense speed gap, she couldn't do that.
As for superman, which one? I don't doubt Mark could beat SOME versions of superman but not others.
That's the issue, there are numerous versions of superman with their own series, all Canon thanks to the multiverse with dramatically different levels of power.
We have no idea which superman that Kirkman was talking about. What we do know is that at the end of the series, Mark was roughly equal to his father, and his father has fought to a "standstill" Supreme who is an actual superman clone (laser vision "last surviving member" of his species, ect. That guy was strong to lift an entire universe. Stronger than the strongest versions of Superman? Obviously not, but much stronger than many others.
You can't really kill her, but you can trap her forever in some way. Or keep her so injured that she survives but it doesn't trigger her mental block that revives her.

I think it probably come down to if invincible truly fought her or held back. And what resources and connections he has at the time.
I imagined that Mark and Eve just grooved, played Ping Pong, cooked, skip stones in a pond, and punch the same enemy.
You gotta think that if Mark didn't have that love barrier he would just cause so much damage that she just kinda goes vegetative from the amount of times she's come back. Sure you can come back infinitly but that's only a curse to get put back into the brutal process. ReZero does a really good job at showcasing the fall into madness dying so many times. He couldn't physically win but the mind could only take so many regenerations unless she doesn't remember the dying part.

AU Invincible cracked the code. He didn't try to kill Eve. He turned her into a vegetable. Basically every villain facing someone with near immortality does that. The other example I can think of is Nathan from Misfits. In an alternative timeline he was paralyzed by the big cheese. Nathan's healing factor only works if he's dead so Nathan was stuck like that.

I always thought she would end being like a viltrumite's kryptonite when i was reading the comic. She has power over atoms, and viltrumite powers come from having fancy atoms. I figured eventually she would find a way to nerf them. Technically she cant directly manipulate organic material, but she can still still look at anything and understood what makes it tick.
Which makes me question why she never became a scientist, or inventor. She could make so many fundamental breakthroughs in science possible.
Her powers blocks never really made sense either. She could still do incredibly lethal things to people just by manipulating their clothing, or changing the temperature of the air, or making everything radioactive.
I wish the creator would just troll the power scale type with "they wouldn't they'd just make up"

The creator said himself, Mark would just need to hit her faster than she can react. Which does mean she is stronger than him cause in a straight fight she would have the advantage of being able to make constructs to counter and out maneuver Mark.
Every viltrumite we’ve seen has been able to smash her constructs easily, hell even the Sequids overwhelmed her. He probably meant he needed to speed blitz her to kill her permanently, since her powers would activate otherwise.

Well, it’s like this: In the alternate universe she still had her mental block that stopped her from manipulating living matter but in the main universe she gets rid of this block. So in my opinion, yeah. She’d probably just turn Mark into a human as soon as the fight starts

Well the only issue here is that she has to be on the brink of death, if say she gets paralyzed she won’t be able to use her full set of powers.

If the alternate Marks and other Viltrumites eliminated her out in their universes, then he could _technically_ do it too. However, ours just wouldn’t do it. It’s clear that he’s a good man who loves her and would rather give up his own life than kill her.

I genuinely thought while going through the story that eve was going to be the one to change the story big time. Thought she would unlock her full potential and could just make a viltrimite into a bug and step on it or something so they would back off and try to make anplan on her

According to Cecil in Guarding the Globe, She has the powers of a goddess
She's broke sure but there is a limit to how much power she can use at one time and how long. As well as if she can keep up with one ŵho is willing and want to kill her. So for example, conquest would have killed her if her powers didn't heal her before she was actually died. However if Conquest know about that ability he would just crush her head instead of just impaling her like he did In the comic. She wouldn't be able to come back from that. Also there are several other universes where she fought Mark or Omni-man and was killed. Then the issue with her powers, they are very limited as I said earlier. Her power feeds off the nutrients her body has to function. Which means if she uses to much she could potentially kill herself by over using her power. To continue, the magnitude and duration of any one use is taxing on her. In comic and show display this fact very clearly. She had put up a bubble to protect herself and the team from the Martian threat. Then after a while she couldn't hold it and passed out due to power exhortation. Now imagine Mark or Omni-man coming at her at mack 10 from all directions with punches that could turn a mountain to powder. Her shield wouldn't even be able to withstand one blow let alone hundreds. Then the obvious fact that Viltrumite have inhumane levels of stamina and vicious determination to accomplish their mission. In short Mark would no diff Eve if he really wanted based on there abilities and limits.
To everyone comparing her to Dr. Manhattan, there's a big disparity in their abilities, primarily in scale. Eve is only able to use her powers in a relatively local range. Dr. Manhattan, meanwhile, has pretty much unlimited scale; he was able to use his powers to create the New 52 multiverse.

I see a whole lot of comments, but nothing about Atom Eve's actual issue: She needs energy to use her powers, and said powers consume a LOT of it. Even if she can revive herself, there's going to come a point where she'll need to eat to regain consumed energy, and Mark wouldn't let that happen.

So in the in series we see atom eve currently getting strong but even at her power level she is still vulnerable to human damage. Like she’ll take hits and they can affect her. And if mark really embraced his viltrumite background he’d absolutely end her.
Alternate versions of Mark have killed her before. It’s hard for him to defeat her because of his feelings towards her not because of her powers. If he wanted to, he’d fly straight through her with no issue.

If eve is killed fast enough then her powers won’t kick in. Throughout the comic she was able to self heal after being critically injured, so if she was killed in an instant and there was nothing to heal then she could die. Another version of mark referenced killing Eve and filling the void with a bunch of redheads.
She is literally the most powerful person in the comic. Like no one could actually beat her cause she could just reduce them to atoms if she really wanted too. She is always holding back the most, only her morals keep her from actually just winning fights.
