    As always, thank you for the transparency. Dealing with chronic illnesses can be extremely challenging, especially when some of them have triggers that can change seemingly out of nowhere. It can cause a great deal of stress. I’m glad that Brian has such a great support system. ❤

    I have crohns so I am loving this. I can relate to everything you are talking about because when I first started having symptoms it was rough. The constant restroom breaks and pain had me going crazy. The doctors were doing test after test and I actually diagnosed myself before my doctors did because I was looking up all of my symptoms and they all pointed at Ulcerative colitis or Crohns. At first I was diagnosed as having Ulcerative Colitis but a couple of months later they realized that my symptoms were more like Crohns. I truly think crohns is an illness caused by stress. I was very stressed out because I was working and in college but on top of that I think being black and gay adds some extra unnecessary stress to life so my body was just in attack mode and it was attacking itself.

    • @SoloonaCruise
      @SoloonaCruise Před 3 měsíci

      Stress seems to be a huge factor in the Chrohn's flare ups with people I know. Having muliple stressors must have been hard for you. I hope you are in a better place now.

    • @MeetTheMazelins
      @MeetTheMazelins  Před 3 měsíci +3

      Its crazy how difficult is is for many doctors to diagnose many of these IBD related illnesses. Stress is a huge factor for so many of them though and that's why it's so important to not lose sight of living a truly balanced life in all ways and be unapologetic about finding and keeping our happiness and peace.
      Whewww Chile you hit a whole nother chord bringing up being black and gay adding another layer of stress. I think we truly do not realize how much it really does transfer to affecting so many aspects of our lives. Thanks so much for sharing and we hope that you are doing all you can to love on your self physically, and emotionally! 💜

    I'm glad you shared your story. I can relate. In 2016 I began having issues with my bowels but I went undiagnosed for 2 years, not being able to hold food down. I was rushed to the E.R after eating spaghetti were I was diagnosed with H-pylori and and a bad case of salmonella, which I walked around with for two years. The infection was so bad, I had to have surgery to allow the infection to have a place to drain. After the surgery I began bleeding because my colon was cut during surgery. I almost died from hemierigen. I had another emergency surgery and the doctor put an ostomy on me and I've had it every since. My goal is to have it removed since it was supposed to be temporary but I'm having different opinions medically so I'm just taking my time until I find the best Gastro. I Pray everything works out for you. Well wishes!💞

As all should educate ourselves & research. Talk with your physician. If not suitable, change physician or medical provider. Brian & Alec you're surrounded with the best, unconditional love family, friends & more. ❤Much much love Darlings. Continue with those beautiful SMILES ❤

    Brian, I’ve never had Crohn’s disease but I did have an episode with diverticulitis and it felt somewhat like what you described. I could not use the bathroom to do no. 2. I knew I had to go but nothing would come out. I had to go to Kaiser emergency and they put me on an IV to get rid of the inflammation in my bowels. This happened about 10 years ago (I think it was) and to this day I am very happy that I (so far) haven’t had another incident like that. Whenever I have to empty my bowels and everything comes out alright, I’m happy. But I waited a few days before I went in and my situation could have been dire too.

    Thank you for sharing your story Brian. Alec, excellent interview! I had a former coworker who is battling Crohns disease. And you are correct. Recovery time can be lengthy. Her last episode, she was out from work for 1 &1/2 years. She underwent major surgery. After emergency surgery, she lost more than half of her small intestines and still wears a colostomy bag. Then the pandemic happened. When we returned to the office, she stayed for roughly 6-8 months and then officially retired. She is doing somewhat better. She always says, "Less stress!" "There is something to be said about retirement!" That's her favorite phrase! Continue to take good care of yourselves and of each other. Blessings to you both. Much love! ❤️💙💜🖤
