- Fat wood, pitch pine, lighter wood. Whatever you choose to call it, it is an amazing fire starting aid. The pine resin soaked wood is very flammable and even a small amount burns for a long time. When combined with a farro rod and a way to strike it you will have an almost guaranteed fire.
In this video we collect fat wood from the woods, cut and shape it to size and insert a large farro rod into it. This creates an easy to grip handle that can be scraped for a very flammable tinder. Even in wet weather this will be very reliable. - Zábava
Thanks for watching! Check out Bushcraft Kelso to see if he sells the fire starters on his website. He makes and sells some cool stuff. www.bushcraftkelso.com/

Good ole Georgia pines
OMG!!! What a great idea!!! No wonder I idolize ya lol🤣 now I want to get to my Gma Evelyn’s even more to go shooting and fine some Fatwood!lol she has 81 acres and been in the family for gosh i think at least 5-6 generations. I know prior to civil war at least because grandfathers of mine son and dad both joined the army fought and son came home a sargeant and dad well he was still a private but she has a old Kentucky rifle one of em used in the civil war I guess and me being a ex army combat would love love to have it🥰😍but I doubt that’ll happen sigh. As ALWAYS LOVE your videos brother and I rewatch em a lot lol.
Yeah, go find some and make one of these!
Clever concept....hard to be original but your doing it!
Sadly not this time. I have seen these before. My friend Bushcraft Kelso makes them as well. But thanks!!
I've been going to do that for years and now you've lit a fire under me and I'm going to do it today thanks Jason. Stay vigilant!
👍 Great idea, I’m inspired to make one of these for myself !
Great Video! Great work !
Great idea! Nicely done. TY
Hi Jason! This is a freaking awesome idea👍👍👍, thank you for sharing. Next time when I will find some fatwood I will try to make one myself. All the best from 🇦🇹🤠👍🔥
Please do!
Excellent video sir. I see you know the tape on the drill bit hack. If you leave about a inch of tape as a flap it will clear the dust for you when its close to depth.
Nice!
Please make one for each of our kiddos
Awesome! I want one
That is way awesome. God bless
I see that you are using your On Three knife from the 1st run.
Every day!
Thank you for another great, informative video Jason.
Glad you enjoyed it
Cool idea. Hadn’t thought about that. Great informative video Jason.
So cool!
Outstanding Jason, I love this stuff.
Good video , thanks for sharing , God bless !
I need one 😊
👍💯🔥
What knife are you using? Thank you a new subscriber
Welcome aboard!! It is the On 3 EDC from Bear Forest Knives.
How flammable is “Really Really “? 🤔😁
Very very!
How do I order one of these?
Alright, dumb question time. IF, you have to scrape the coating off of a fero-rod before it will work then WHY do they coat them?
It keeps them from oxidizing.
@@ONThree Yes, but doesn't a layer of oxidation also protect the remaining metal from oxidation? And how does one last for years after removing it and function better? Yeah, I'm goin' down the rabbit hole...
@@paulschwartz2464 I think you may be right but It would be hard to sell a new farro rod that is all corroded.
What is the rifle you had in this video
Remington 700 30-06
What knife is that
It is the “On Three EDC” from Bear Forest Knives.
why glue your ferro rod to your tinder? this is dumb
I disagree. But thanks for the comment.
A lot of waste. Being in the woods with out any orange....dangerous
