Yes, for all tech and gadgetry for me really. But occasionally, there'd be one thing that I'd find significant enough to upgrade to like the 65" Samsung 4K 3D, which was a big deal in 2016 that I got for a steal on A-grade refurb. I still have it, still highly satisfied. But since I saw Caleb's review and others of the Vizio mh512a-h6, I never cared for Atmos much but now on the hunt for a great deal. Lol

Caleb, Thanks for this. I watched and read everything from the March 30th launch/unbox day and had decided on the `QLED 900B in the 85 inch size. But then I saw this video of yours about the frame. It does not take much to recognize our television is off most of the time - always during the day, a great time to display beautiful art. How wonderful! We use the television at night for movies and sports, and have a top-of-the line Bowers & Wilkins speaker set up. Because of the windows and brightness of this room, we LOVE the resolution, detail and color of our existing Samsung QN65Q9F. Just wish it was bigger. We removed a massive entertainment center to accommodate a larger set and are looking for the perfect TV now. You've left me torn. Either, the Frame in an 85 inch model (which I understand will be out in a few months), or the 900B in an 85 inch version, a bit sooner. Time isn't a consideration. We can wait. The questions for you (and us) is: How close will the performance of the Frame be to the 900B? While we don't expect it will be at the level of the new 900B, will it be close to our existing 4K television? While we'd like even more performance, we're pretty happy with the QN65Q9F. But I'm not sure we would want to go below this. What are your thoughts?

Caleb I would love to get a more in-depth review of the the frame tv. After seeing the ability to display art I’m considering one in the family room, I’d be looking at the 85inch and I think it’s an awesome idea to be able to turn the screen into a nice back ground piece instead of the standard black panel that hangs on a wall while not being used.

Great review! Been a 1080P Samsung 55" owner since 2016... I'm diving into the QN800, 65", to save a grand on the 75".... hooking it up to my home sound system and we should be pretty happy. My dad, a 4K owner, thought we had a 4K in the old Samsung's display when he saw it, so I can't wait to up it to 8K. Prices are now (04/22) at $2,000 for the 65" - especially since the 'B' revs are now released. They're a bit too pricey for me; I want to pay off our mortgage. :)

    • @absolutium
      @absolutium Před 2 lety

8K is useless.. 80% of the available content doesn't even get to 1440p.
The bandwidth required to stream 8k is not going to happen due to the law of diminishing returns.
HDR and a high frame rate are way more relevant for image quality than pixel count.
4K HDR at 120fps will look way better than 8k at 30fps. That's why S95B is considered the best TV ever made.

I have played Halo infinite on a Xbox series X, using an 85QN800A for hours and I can tell you there is no need for any of that!!!
First of all the one connect box does a significantly better job of dissipating heat from the panel than any heatsink ever would as all of the computing power is completely separated from the actual display.
If you don't actually have these displays yourself, a great video for you to check out was done doing a direct comparison between TVs with and without Dolby vision.

An Italian follower and admirer of yours here. I'm about to purchase a 65-inch QN model from Samsung; I am unwilling to enter the QD-OLED game for the time being.
Based on price (presently around 3000 euros both), hardware and software, 2021 QN900A annd 2022 QN95B seem to be largely equivalent. Question: in terms of image quality in ordinary mixed usage (movies, sport, documentaries, etc), which would you suggest? I'm reading of increased image depth and further reduced blooming in 2022 QN series, however haestetics and Quantum HDR 64x (and, to a lesser extent, 8k resolution) could speak in favor of the elder model.
    From across the ocean: help!
Thanks a lot in advance, Andrea

Does the new sound bar support dolby vision passthrough? For the previous version (Q950A) it seems extremely ambiguous. Specs don't list Dolby Vision, but people on reddit say it works for them! But then again can you trust a rando on reddit to know what they're doing (maybe they're getting HDR10 and don't know any better)? So anyway, would love to get that particular point tested and answered clearly whenever you review it!

OK, My 50" Frame (2020) showed up last week and here are my impressions. The mat finish is very nice, but the "illusion" of art has some caveats. (1) The room must be well lit, the TV only gets so dim, and doesn't dim further beyond what I would consider high ambient sunlight situations, so in morning/afternoon, even with lights on the TV will look too "bright" for true artwork. (2) Watercolor works best. For some reason this type of art does the best for the actual "art" illusion. Photos and photo-real art don't have that canvas look, and other art types don't match the art illusion well. Maybe a canvas filter of some kind would aid in this regard, but if you are going for a true "art" look, watercolor is key. The picture quality is good. Not as good as my sony x900, but good, and the mat finish really makes for an interesting look honestly. This was purchased as a gaming TV that is for the kids in an odd location. AUTOMATION!!!! This is a BIG con. I wanted a TV that could just be ON during the day with art without much thought. It seems like a feature you would expect to be there. But its not, and making it happen is complex. Night mode, which turns the TV off without motion or in darker situations isn't time-sensitive, so you have to turn this off all the time if you want your ART to stay on more than 30 seconds at any time. Motion doesn't do a great job triggering the TV back on. And smartthings integration is just on-off. And without changing settings on just puts you on the Hub, and off turns the TV off. There is no smartthings "turn on art mode" settings. So you end up having to change some art settings (which inexplicably aren't in the settings menu) and some other settings to kind of hack together something that works "most of the time" for turning the TV on in the morning with Art and off at night with smartthings help. You also can't easily randomize art, only on certain curations, and you can't set the slideshow duration, a lot of missing settings that seem obviously needed IMO. The other downside is that its not obvious 50" and below is only 60hz, where 55" and above is 120hz. I was initially kind of pissed about this, and considered returning the TV to exchange for a 55 (as it is intended as a PC gaming TV), but i didn't want to go through the hassle of having to take it down pack it up and remount another one. That said, I'm happy with it. It really looks great when you have a lot of ambient light and the right bit of art on the screen. Its just lacking some "obvious" features I'm surprised are missing considering how long the frame TV has been a thing.

I bought the 85 inch 2020 Samsung q900ts on closeout last Summer. At the time it was $700 cheaper than the same size qn90a. At the large screen size you can tell a difference between the upscale 8k image and the 4k. I am very happy with this TV and I'm glad I went with the 8k model. The TV upscale quite well and for a bright room I don't think you can find a better picture. The 8k sets do depreciate dramatically so I wouldn't pay the difference at launch price but for the same money the 8k seems a better set to my eyes

Yeah ive done same comparing both 8k tv panels and I Think the lg nanocell just crashed samsung qled in terms of firstly! Black levels believe me (black was black not like on this video, I Think it was like Here as „samsung” but Samsung in my shop looked really washed out as someone here said in the comments, you know why they do that :-)) were almost as lg oled (c1 b1) standing next to it(barely really barely ve seen difference, only the difference was a little bit more noticable to sonys a90j oled, almost the same as a80j maybe because it has matte finish and cant reflect that purity of black) vividity of colors, upscaling did a great job to 8k I really hope to see it with the 8k content from CZcams or whatever, contrast and clarity dis a great job too, in samsung what was only good was the color and only that, neither summing those advantages of LG’s to samsung, LG just crashed it, by the way I Think that 8k nanocells are much much different to 4ks because comparing 4K nanocell or qled to 4oled the oled was far superior to qleds, minileds, full arays etc. But! 8k nanocell was almost as oled in terms of black (this might be this 0.035 nits nano black technology) and the HDR in some scenes popped so much that I’ve had to narrow my eyes! And the image in that particular LG looked like REAL! For real 😁 it looked like it was going out of that screen, when in samsung I didnt have a single feeling for this effect 🙂 at the end comparing them would be like that Sony 8k oled > lg 8k oled > Sony 8k full array > lg 8k nanocell > Sony 4K oled >= lg 4K oled (really they’re both great, Sony better upscale, details, sharpness, lg motion motion motion, warranty and blacks) > hisense 4K oled >= philips 4K oled > hisense uled > samsung 4K qled >= rest 😆. Based on my own research going from shop to shop watching those tv and spending time and money to see the truth and compare it to CZcams reviews believe me! As oled lover have one g1 Lg in home im getting lg nanocell 8k 953! I Think I could help you as much as I could
