    Very helpful! I started off with an F20 Air Sense (for her) with a medium size mask. I didn't get on very well with it, so I ordered a mask in small but that also leaked a lot. So then I tried the F20 AirTouch mask but they only had medium in stock (I am between a medium and a small apparently) so I thought it was worth a try. Not great either, so now that small AirTouch masks are in stock I am going to try that.
    I hadn't realised how much trial and error was going to be necessary (and it's getting expensive!)

      Or perhaps like an iv pole to keep it center bed for less restricted movement and taking its weight while controlling or at least limiting hose contact. Often takes half my day to get the grooves and ridges to leave my skin and some never do. Like the who sing it- there's got to be a better way.

    F20 air touch large is by far the best mask I have used for the past 2 years. Coupled with the Airsense 11 it's a perfect match for me. I can comfortably sleep 8hrs with little to no discomfort.
    Edit: F20 airtouch cleaning method that works for me. Fill sink with hot water with mild dish soap let soak for 15 mins, gently rub memory foam, rinse, again gently squeeze excesses water out. Allow to dry over night. Typically lasts about 3-4 months. Economically makes sense to purchase them in packs of 2 or 3 for the F20 Airtouch.

    As a newbie who has had CPAP for less than a year now, I'm surprised these masks don't come in more variations of size & shape, and cushion size & shape. To me, it is like with computer mice -- they should be sized similarly to gloves, that much variety. Great video !

    Another issue for me is the straps: 1) contact a) skin sensitivity/ irritability b) deeply creasing skin when adjusted to stop and prevent air leaks 2) head pressure- adds to my continual head pain and to the tightened rubber band oxygen deprivation sensation 3) velcro- a) ruining my hair which it grabs hold of thru out time worn b) closure connection is compromised with only one strand of hair 4) might there be a thin breathable cotton hair and face protector?

  • @nancymiller9327

    Tristan, I am new to CPAP (at age 71!) and I am finding it very helpful. I am using the Air Fit N20 nasal mask and getting very good scores on MyAir but I have air leaking from my mouth at higher pressures. Chin strap does not seem to solve this and I am not willing to put tape over my mouth. So I may try a full face mask. In fact I have tried an F40 full face mask with nasal pillow that sits beneath the nose. This is your favorite mask! I like it in every respect EXCEPT that it leaks everywhere and I have not been able to stop the leaking. Based on your review and some very positive reviews I have read online I am going to give it another try and make sure I have not overlooked something. But if the nasal "pillow" just "sits below your nose" how does that allow for a firm seal?? I am perplexed about that. Your video was extremely informative! Thank you!😄😃😃

    • @thecpapstore
      @thecpapstore  Před měsícem

      The F40 mask expands and allows for a seal underneath your nose. However, it is not a very structured mask, and I have realized since filming this video, I would not recommend it for people over 15 pressure. It seems to have leaks, if your face does not fit it perfectly.
      I would probably try an F30i. The top of the headgear (being top mounted) presses the nasal cushion part of the mask into the nose a little more, creating a better seal.

    • @malissawillden4585
      @malissawillden4585 Před 12 hodinami

      Jealous. Silence has been an issue recently. Either the noise of what must be air leaks or the sound of my own breathing, [exhalations accompanied with machime echo-effect which may actually precede me and then feels like it's causing me to breathe in this noisy way.] or both simultaneous. Is that even doable, (i refer to the respiratory 'program') ? The fight gets me a bit bearish sometimes. And the head harness crushes my brain; indeed has physically formed permanent indentions in my scalp. It is good to see though everyone struggles with the contraption, each eventually comes to some resolution to make the cpap compatible enough to carry on. I suppose we have to or accept oxygenation-deprived brains and all that entails. Thanks all. M

    Hi Tristan, that F&P Vitera mask I got off you guys last month fits me so much better than either my Resmed F20 or F30i. Much more comfortable on my upper nose (slightly wider), and just all around a better seal. Exhalation was a big problem on the F20 too, very little air vented out the mask. (The F30n was nice, but its nostrils didn't line up with mine.) I'm ethnically, I'm north-western European, and although my nostrils are narrow too. Any obstruction disrupts my sleep.

    I’m new to using a CPAP.
    I started out for my first two weeks using the F & S Eson 2 nasal mask.
    I was averaging about 10 events/hr. The only problem I had was it looked like my nose went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. I tried using CPAP gel and band aids.
    I decided to try the new hybrid ResMed Airfit F40.
    The cushion leaked several times during the night. The leaks were mostly just above the magnet connectors. I also had leaks at the bridge of the nose. I was up all-night tightening and loosening the straps. I was measured for a medium cushion. The mouth area almost seems it’s too small. The idea for the mask was for comfort and limited contact. With no frame I think the outer seal clasps. Myt first night was 19.8 events /hr. The mask seal said good 17/20. This was my worst night yet, using a CPAP. I only got a medium for the cushions. Not sure if a large would work. I went into this with great hopes, but I can see why people give up using a CPAP. I know for health reason I got to try something. I saw reviews with this mask are 50/50. One store stated they wouldn’t carry the mask, because it was so bad.

    • @thecpapstore
      @thecpapstore  Před 3 měsíci

      Sorry to hear about your struggles. Try not to give up! Perhaps you can find a CPAP clinic to get fitted in person as I am sure buying new masks is getting annoying and expensive. May I ask what pressure you run? Also, do you have a pointer nose or a flatter nose like mine?

    • @Wanda-yz3zq
      @Wanda-yz3zq Před 3 měsíci

      @@thecpapstore My setting is on auto, and I have a flatter nose. Are the mouth sizes all the same on the mask and only deals with width. I called ResMed and they said they couldn't answer questions and only make the masks. ResMed told me to get ahold of my supplier and been trying for over a week and a half. Thinking of the F-20. Worried about nose damage and thinking of the Air touch. Thank you so much for responding. I didn't want to give up but sure thinking about it. Haven't got much sleep in a month.

    • @thecpapstore
      @thecpapstore  Před 3 měsíci

      @@Wanda-yz3zq Make sure you are getting sized right. It might be worth getting a large F40 cushion. You can find size guides for our masks on our website and use a ruler to measure your nose. We do not have F40 yet though, as it is not launched in Canada. If you are worried about nose damage, I would also consider the Vitera instead of the F20. The cushion is less hard on the bridge. I would definitely find a CPAP store near you to test them. As someone who has reviewed every mask, I must say when you see and try them in person the answer becomes clear.
      Another idea is to download a mask fit app such as Mask Fit AR. If it recommends older masks, I would probably stay away, but it might give you a little bit better of direction to go.

  • @raymondha1061
    @raymondha1061 Před 4 měsíci +3

    I used the F30i, the fit was the best since it has wide size. Unfortunately there are 3 problems that make me to wear something else. First, the connection between the air supply tube and the mask would only last less than 4 months. It would clacked and the full ,and need to replace the whole mask. Second, the noise is much higher since the air hose is just next to your ears. Third, the hose would leave a big indentation on your face and hair line.

    I have tried most of these masks and ended up with the F30 as my go to.
    The AirFit F20 tore up the bridge of my nose so I would end up getting sores on it. My doctor recommended the AirTouch so when I tried that I ended up with lots of leakage issues no matter what I tried.
    The F30i caused me issues mostly because I get my head pretty close to the wall so I end up smacking the connector against the wall. I might need to try it again since I got a bigger pillow that might help prevent that.
    I haven’t tried nor do I own a F40 so not sure about that one but seems like it would work just fine for me.

    I have just recently bought an F40 mask which I love . I have a defibrillator and a heart condition and I didn't realise the seriousness of the magnets which clip on the front .Being so new to the mask , I could attribute some of the negative feelings to the closeness of the magnets to my heart but I can prove nothing at present . My doctor and wife want me to get rid of the mask with the magnets but I still want a full face mask . My research this weekend has unearthed a Resmed F30i non magnetic facemask but I can't find any reviews on it . There must be many people who have medical implants which will be influenced by magnets . Can you give us an opinion on the non magnetic clips on the machine . I get a terrible sore from the F20, find the Air touch F20 uncomfortable much of the time, and can't breathe through the F30 as it collapses under my nostrils (presumably the F40 will do the same.)

    And I am doing so-so with the Quattro Air, but last night I only got 3 and a half hours of sleep.😡
    Their masks just don't seem to fit my face, and I think my being bald affects how well the headgear works.
    The headgear also doesn't last long due to the oils in my skin. And if I wash them often they get all stretched out.
    If the Quattro Air doesn't work, I am going to have to buy the Vitera.

      The f&p evora has improved nostril accommodation - the outlet being a single p larger oval. However lacks the magnetic easy low straps detachments, having an odd clipping system instead which I find impossible to detach when I need mask- release NOW. And also nearly impossible to connect by myself while wearing the mask, so probably nonaccomplishable without full alert state.
