  • The AirFit F40 promises to be a great improvement on the popular AirFit F30. The F30 has been out for a long time and has been a great option for a lot of CPAP users. In this video we will show you the main points of difference as well as our opinion on whether the F40 is worth the upgrade. Links below for detailed setup and review videos for the AirFit F40 and AirFit F30 individually.

    I have been using this mask for 5 nights. I absolutely love it accept for one thing. I am having trouble adjusting it, and I just realized why. I have a standard head gear, and I need a small. The mask is the best one I have used. No noise at all!

    I use both the F30 and the F40, but my primary mask is still an AirTouch F20 (temper foam). I use the F30 or the F40 to read before falling asleep, then switch over the F20 when I do go to sleep The F30 and the F40 allow me to wear my glasses while using the mask, but I need the full coverage of the F20 when I sleep (I find my sinuses get dried-out if I use the F30 or the F40 for too long -- note, I have had 13 sinus surgeries).
    It is easier to swap the F20 with the F30 as they use the same elbow to attach the hose -- simply unsnap the hose on the F30 and snap into the F20. The F40 has a new connection to the hose and you have to remove the hose. The soft rubber collar on the hose stretches every time you remove the mask. Sooner or later, it no longer holds on to the mask properly, and the mask falls off every time it gets bumped.
    I actually prefer the F40, but with one modification... I have a hanging septum, so the F40 teeter-totters on my nose, leaking on one side, then the other. I cut the center membrane in the nose, making one large hole, instead of two holes. The mask has held up for 3 months, so far. I use it for reading almost every night, and sleep with it maybe one night in three. I like the goofy hose thingy on the F40. It is very soft and flexible It allows me to lie closer to my pillow without upsetting the mask. I only wish the hose connection was compatible with the F20.
    (Don't get me started on the F30i. The air in the tubes on the sides of your face RINGS! My sister-in-law that loves the F30i with her CPAP, but I use a BiPAP. One constant noise you might learn to ignore, but one volume for inhale and then a different for exhale drove me insane.)

    Thanks for the video. I was on the F30 but had leaking and mask sealing problems where I needed to adjust the straps every few nights which affected the leaks because it was hard to get a good mask seal so I switched to the F40. I honestly think that both are very similar. Except that with the F40 , I feel it's lighter on the face and my leaking improved and it's easier to get a good mask seal and I'm getting better numbers with the F40 as far as leaking and the mask seal. One of the issues with the F40 is that getting the cushion replacements is taking a long time to receive I think because it's a new mask and parts are not that available or out of stock

    I was using F30, then F30i, now using F40. I'm getting better numbers with the F40 as far as leaking and the mask seal. So I will be keeping the F40.

    One piece of important information is that if you are switching from an F20 to the F40 you need to switch your mask settings on your machine to pillows...this is due to the flexible mask AND the new additional length of hose.

      I had a tiny sore feeling in that columella area between the nostrils the 1st night. I slightly loosened the pressure under the nose. Have had no issues since...it's been 30 days+...for me, the best mask in 11 years!

    I noticed that the new F40's headgear comes in Standard and Large size. How do you determine which size will fit your head?

    • @CPAPmyway
      @CPAPmyway  Před 3 měsíci +1

      It comes in Standard, Small, and Large. Most people are standard, and almost every mask kit comes with Standard headgear. So you would probably only get a small or large if you had an issue with the standard.

    • @cardinalflower6959
      @cardinalflower6959 Před 3 měsíci

      In other words, you don't get a choice the first time around. They send you the standard, and if it doesn't fit, then you have to buy a different size separately.

    • @CPAPmyway
      @CPAPmyway  Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@cardinalflower6959 I think in most cases you will start with a standard unless you are at a place where you can try the mask on and that also has other size headgear in stock if the first mask doesn't fit.

    I currently have the F30i but it is loud & I hold tension in my face to keep from leaking at the corners. I couldn’t get a good look but that area was either larger or more rectangular. Can you confirm?

    • @CPAPmyway
      @CPAPmyway  Před 3 měsíci

      I think that the headgear style on the F40 might be better with the leak issue you are describing.

    I really like this mask except for one thing. My doctor has suggested I sleep on my side. Now that I do that, the magnet comes undone one the side that I am sleeping on. I heard somewhere that this mask is now made with a clip rather than a magnet. Anyone have any idea what the number of that mask is?

    • @CPAPmyway
      @CPAPmyway  Před 25 dny

      I believe that you can get standard clips now. I will find out and get that up if so.

      I currently use F20 airtouch, but would like to work towards a hybrid. The softness of this sounds great. But I read a comment somewhere that “people who like the F20 don’t like the F40”. Can you comment on that?

      @@Copperpennyful I can't speak to the F40, but I switched from the F20 to the F30 and wow, what a difference. I have much fewer leak issues now and the mask is way more comfortable to wear. AHI numbers are way better too. Also much easier to sleep on your side with the F30 vs. the F20. Never going back to the F20.
