Looks to me like when it was wrapped in the paper it was sitting up on the sides in the bottom of the box, then when you pull the paper out, the very bottom of the box is more narrow, by the width of the bonus piece. Like maybe 1/2 inch on either side
For those who don't already know the trick, here's the explanation :
The pieces are made in such a way that you can make two rectangles : a big one using the five pieces, and a small one using the four.
It's a visual illusion because the way they are placed makes you think the rectangles have the same dimensions, when they don't.

The gaps within the other pieces are essentially where that âbonusâ piece goes, so you arenât creating anything. Still looks cool though

Clever geometry. The rearranged pieces form a new rectangle that is a few mm2 smaller than the one that was taken out. The bonus piece is the total mm2 that is missing from the new shape. The dark ink border around the word chocolate in the packaging hides the difference to the eye.

For those wondering how this works, the area of the chocolate before putting it back in the box, is slightly larger then after, it shaves off jussssst enough so its not noticeable by the human eye, but is enough so it leaves you with a decent sized peace afterwards

This trick is actually pretty simple.
The reason why it looks like you have the same amount is because of the way it lays. After you rearrange it, it looks the same but in reality there are missing a tiny bit on all sides đ

It's a little bit smaller than it originally was. It used to fit to the edge of the folding part of the wrapper, now it only fits to the chocolate wording part of it, which is smaller. And the difference in the size is the bonus piece

This was debunked years ago. To see it very clearly: outline the size of the original chocolate (all 4 edges), now do the rearrange the chocolate and you'll notice that it has indeed gotten smaller

There is no size difference in this puzzle and before you say, âbut the fold linesâ no that second fold line is so the box could close because it is still a chocolate bar
It's all about the final rectangle being a small percentage smaller so you barely notice that it's different but really 5% is missing around the edges and you're left with a small extra piece

If you look closely at the before vs after, the rectangle length and width is smaller.
If you look close enough, the puzzle that was below the wrapper is a bit smaller than the actual chocolate bar. The extra space is the exact size of the âBONUS!â chocolate just in a different shape. The rest is just to make a puzzle out of the other pieces. Correct me if Iâm wrong.

The chocolate at first was placed on Broder part of box, when the chocolate đ« is pulled out and kept aside, there is inner slot in box which is smaller then initial one, it also have chocolate colour border to cover the smaller size of second chocolate, it needs vision.
You can see around the chocolate the box has a gap around it, if you melted that leftover piece you could fill that gap in perfectly.

Both have different surface area , the leftover piece is the difference of the both surface areas.
The wrapper has a little platform that it rests on before coming out of the box. When you put the chocolate back in the box without the wrapper, it has a smaller space to fit in! Thatâs a great puzzle!

Itâs tons of surface area when you put them back in to spell chocolate. But initially the boxâs bottom was full. That extra surface area was the space for the âbonusâ piece
I think itâs because the brown outline of the word chocolate isnât at the edge of the packaging, and it leaves just enough white space on each side to not be noticeable, but for the gold wrapper to cover it all and all the chocolate fits.
