- How can you get customers? How to stand out in the marketplace? How to attract the attention of your potential customers?
00:00 - Your Social Media isn't your portfolio
02:25 - How to get noticed in the job market
07:00 - Personal Stories that work
08:38 - Should you do work for free?
Summary by Andres Ramirez:
1. Social media is about conversations with people. Give them a reason to care and to share your content.
2. Find your voice and rhythm. Learn to write a few sentences, use great images, incorporate your unique lens to build an audience that shows up for you.
3. Start today! All this knowledge acquired is meaningless unless you apply it.
4. If you have a level of polish and have ideas with a point of view, people will reach out to you.
5. Stand out by one-eighth of an inch - Pick your niche and give value consistently on the platform that you think best suits you.
6. Do not negotiate against yourself before the client has an opportunity. Let them do their job so they can feel good about it as well.
7. Trade Up Principle: Sell something to buy something similar but more expensive. Allow yourself to do marketing projects or feel-good projects for a good cause.

I think Chris Do is the only person I've seen who can give me 10 different advices in just over a minute of video. Man, he really is a legend!
I was worried it was too much too fast.
@@thefutur thanks for the comment. Nah, I really love the channel and especially your advices... 😄 super engaging!
@@thefutur That's What Makes it perfect!! you've found "your calling".
You are so right! Value - packed! He’s so gifted!
“Stay out of the results business for a while, and see who shows up for you” that hit home for me.
Hello James...could you explain what a results business is? Is it when you offer a service?
@@theauntie Hi! He just meant don't worry about the results yet. Just put in the work first, for whoever happens to show up for you.
@@SpeterMan3 Oh that makes sense, thank you!
@@theauntie No problem!
"-so that first step, it's brutal. It's super scary - it feels like you're standing on top of a cliff, it's a 100-foot drop, and there are like live crocodiles underneath.
But it's all an illusion, there's a glass bridge you don't realize. As soon as you take a step you don't fall, and you'll be able to take the next step and the next step."
i really needed this
"Give your followers a reason to care and a reason to share" Love it! ❤
Thank you so much Chris, I am a mother of 2 girls from the Philippines. 16 years ago I resigned from my first and last corporate job to take care of my 2 daughters. Now, that they are grown up, I am ready to start my career again as a freelancer. I just finished my social media management short course. I am not fluent in English, overage, my corporate job was 16 years ago. But I am not taking it as a hindrance not to start again. I just want to thank you for keeping me motivated everyday.
This is what I needed to hear to actually do something on social media. Thank you.
You’re very welcome
I really like the idea of changing the approach for social media from 'talking about us' to 'having a conversation' with the audience. Years ago, I first thought the solution was to share other people's content that I had found interesting, but then realized that's what everyone is doing anyways. And so, at that time I fell into the trap of social media being a copy of my portfolio, not having anything personal to say and share.
I think the hardest part of this for me is first having something important, unique or just useful to say and put out there. I would imagine that's what a lot of us struggle with.
“Stand out by 1/8th of an inch...” 🌹
Standing out is so important. Out of work because of the pandemic for two years and I have a passion for content creation. I don’t have a ton of experience but I still applied for jobs. I had an interview at a corporate head office for handling all fifty of their stores social media content… and I got the job. Over two hundred applicants and I beat out those that had far more experience. I know I’m outgoing and was honest my whole interview. They even said I wasn’t where they want, but my personality stood out and they will help support me to get me to the right place. Rely on what you’re good at!
The amount of gold you've packed so well into a 13-minute video blows my mind. ❤️
Appreciate it Yash
Fortunate to be alive in an era where information this valuable is available for free! Amazing and valuable content like always. Thank you, Chris and The Futur team.
Much appreciated!
Why do I ever get distracted and stop watching your videos? THEY HELP ME SO MUCH!!! Each one, without fail, consistently delivers value from start to finish. There's never any filler, exaggerated claims, or manipulative pitches to "buy my product, or you'll end up broke and devoid of purpose." 🤣🤣
Whenever you make an offer, Chris, it's always valid, ethical, and packed with value that you've repeatedly demonstrated in the hundreds of videos available, and of course, in the dozens I've personally viewed. Each single video holds more value than most courses out there claiming to teach the same material. You share high-level insights and real business principles that go beyond just the creative realm, extending to service and agency models as well - precisely the area I'm trying to grow.
Your mindset, your thought process, your integrity - they're a refreshing change of pace. Even when you speak the truth bluntly, discussing harsh realities, you do it with respect, leaving my self-esteem intact. You allow me to feel humbled without feeling worthless and hopeless.
This particular video has stirred up my confidence, encouraging me to openly share my ideas. Thanks, man! I find myself needing to transcribe your videos to fully absorb your insights. Your points flow seamlessly from your lips, each bearing a level of depth that requires time for us beginners to digest...and I absolutely love it!
Thank you! May God continue to pour out his strength and blessings to you and your family, **enabling** you to keep igniting the paths with LIGHT and COURAGE of those you guide!
"Your social media is not your portfolio... Give people the reason to care and share... I hate to break the news to you." Point-blank; thanks, Chris

Thanks, Chris, I'm a young illustrator and I thought that my social media is just for a portfolio, but after I watched this video, I finally realize all of it is just useless if people don't attracted anymore with my work.
I'll try to change my strategy so I can do better. Thank you so much Chris!!!

good summary.
The first point you made about Instagram not being a profile of your work, but also engagement with an audience really stuck with me. Thank you
This channel really is an inspiration and motivation to be great. Been subbed for a year and a half and don’t regret finding it!!!
I went to college for a bachelors in communication and design back in 2015. I graduated and eventually stopped doing anything in the field for years. Now I’m back in on it and your videos play while I do studies and projects. You have been very real and upfront with the truth in all your videos. Sharing knowledge and critique. Pointing out flaws we all have coming into design or struggling to be in it. I super appreciate you and thanks for inspiration.
Perfect timing man!👏🏾🌹
Inspiring push and advice in the right direction.
Sometimes I have to go out of my industry to remember how to negotiate my niche clientele. Thank you Chris, I found your work a couple months back, love your message of kindness and the being honest about your 'why.'
This is such an enjoyable video. Love the quality of the sound, how calm the vibe is yet so rich with information and advice.
Feel like I just had a great conversation with someone who is happy to share what they know with me 🙌🏾
This is gold! Thanks Chris!
Love this content! thank you!
Love everything you out out Chris - both long and short form.
Keep it up
Every second of this was so informative. I took notes - thanks Chris!
You're the best, Chris. Thank you for everything you provide.
This is the best video i have watched in the past two years. Social Media can be so exhausting when you don't have the right mission. Trying to make everything about you is exhausting. Thank you for this!
Excellent points on how to get the attention of your ideal client. Thanks, Chris!
9:28 - When a person comes from a place of fear and exhibits desperation, one wonders if this will bleed into their work too? This is not how any person wants to enter a relationship -personal or professional. Chris shares true wisdom.
Thank you Lisa!
well said and great advice! thankyou
Thank you ♥️
You are taking my motivation back..been lost and unfocused for months now..love to hear you again
Absolutely. I've been preaching this to clients for years. It is about relationships.
Super valuable. Thank you always
Those tips are so powerful!!
His vibes hit me every time. Great guy, thoughtful and honest.
Thanks for this!
I always find great how your videos just seem to appear just when one does need it.
I was just speaking about how I need to begin working on socialising more than working because of the value of networking and great relationships not just with clients but with people who share my interests.
Keep up with the good content,
Long live Thefutur!
Thank you for your value Chris
Well said! Here's to taking that jump and doing something meaningful TODAY.
Extremely helpful. Thanks Chris
nice one! thanks for sharing!
Golden advice. I’m surely going to apply this advice. Thank you Chris 👍🏼
Love your content! Very insightful and I loved the story with Michael from Ghana. To think that you got on his IG Live! That's awesome of you! Wishing you many more blessings!
I have been following you for almost a six months now. I got an insight to close deal in my favour better than earlier. thanks for your valuable input.
Loving this channel!
Different and BRILLIANT.....
I came across your Ikigai video when you were explaining and writing on a whiteboard a few years ago. Today I found your channel again. I believe this is no coincidence. I love what you're sharing here. Thank you.
Pearls of wisdom & nuggets of knowledge, like always. Thank you Chris!
He is the wolf of the wall street. I wanna have confidence and body expressions like him while talking
As always, love the insight!
The key takeaway for me from this video is that I need to give value, where they can learn and share. :) As of now, it's mostly like a portfolio showcase in IG.
Also loved the way you shared the insight about certain projects to be a "Marketing Expense". Interesting analogy!
Thank you for the feedback
It's never easy to stand out and not want results when you have so many problems in your life to contend with. However, I look at it this way, the more you sharpen your axe, the easier it will be to chop whatever tree down in the industry you want to add value to. And it takes time to build value and develop the skills sometimes. This is awesome advice and always appreciate the content from this channel. Thanks Chris.
I absolutely love your positions on this topic Chris. Thank you for the insights, I definitely feel once I changed my perspective on social media to how Can I help the audience, instead of being about me, it radically improved my relationship with social media.
Thanks again
"Stand out 1/8 of an inch." That will stick with me. Sometimes we tell ourselves the story that to be good or stand out we have to be extraordinary or head and shoulders above the crowd. The thought of that can feel insurmountable - how can I, especially a beginner/new to the field or market be head and shoulders above the countless rest? Inactivity or paralysis may be soon to follow. If we just think of it as an 1/8 of inch we think - you know what? I CAN do that. Those two words, "I can" repeat over and over, becoming the narrative we believe. Thank you for sharing.
So much value in this one. Thanks a lot Chris!
I appreciate how encouraging you are, Chris. We met at Creative South about three years ago and you encouraged me to start my own business. I recently got laid off and my wife encouraged me to finally make the leap. I prayerfully decided that it’s time. It’s scary. Because of that, I have never appreciated encouragement more in my life, and your videos have definitely given me that.
It’s time.
Learned a lot from this video!
🤙🏽🤙🏽

Solid advice ! Appreciate this
Thank you for this solid content
Once again thank you for your advice.
Didn't realize how much I needed to hear about the desperation bit. Just recently graduated and I was feeling that pressure to negotiate down just to get my foot through the door! Thanks for the valuable content as always.
Amazing, thank you Chris! Going to do something with this advice :)
True words, brother...Content wins over self-portrayal. You get more jobs/connections if you show others what you make.
this just give me a reset thought, can't believe my sheets is full of points. Chris so talented and grounded.
This video has changed my mindset completely. ✅

Thanks for sharing. Amazing content.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this wonderful video, you made my day.
Within just the 1st minute of the video, I had to pause and hit the like button 👍👍👍 plus a comment.
Man, this is some solid info...
Wow, thank you
Thank you Chris.
Always getting a lot of value from your videos. This one is super interesting from the first sentence of it. Always thought about it but never really felt the authority to give such a statement (social media is not your portfolio).
Good point on 'buying a project'. I actually partnered up with a potential client and put my own money in as an investment where I was free to design as an investment partner instead of as an architect.
🙌 OMG this is the one Chris!! sooo inspiring yet true, you put it so simple, it's an art form 💪
thank you so much!
I discovered this channel a few weeks ago and I must say, I fell in love with it. The content is valuable, concise and easy to understand. Looking forward to more videos.

Pause. I was watching another video from you guys and CZcams autoplayed this one.
By the time I moved my mouse towards the X to close the tab, I heard the first sentence and got hooked in.
"Your social media is not your portfolio." - Huh. Tell me more.
It took 3 seconds to get me to watch the 13 minutes. That's impressive stuff, guys. Congrats !
Thank you 😇✨
