I have found that Shrink Wrap Tubing does a very good job of extending the life of my worms, and at a substantially cheaper price than o-rings... and Shrink Wrap Tubing Comes In many colors too...

Also you can use the VMC silicone ring and they have a special plier type tool to spread the ring outwards and a hole in the top tab to insert the hook.
If you use the yamamato’s its best to put a ring on. If using a stronger worm like the one you custom make, its strong enough to put the hook thru and last quite a few throws it seems?
Also have the black traditional O-Ring as well.

For sure. If you want to get fancy there's a lot of things you can use. I'm more of a fisherman on a budget LOL but yeah I've used that stuff before to save the Worm but now that I make my own worms I'm not too worried

@@OnlyfinsfishingOK yep i started using them thinking it would help save the worm since the yams are so expensive, if i made my own i would be doing the same as you since you have your own recipe! Plus your worms are a lot stronger than the Gary Yam’s that i use.
I have noticed tho that if you use those VMC rings and nail weight that eventually the ring breaks and throws the whole thing off the hook and causes a devastating backlash.

Very nice. I use the same hooks. I don't use O rings. I think it has better movement with out them. I like putting a nail weight in the worm so I can cast it further.

Another way to do it is to let the worm sit on your finger and see where the middle is. I’ll sometimes use a 5” ribbon tail worm or something similar and folding in half will give you a weird unnatural looking worm underwater.

Good point. I didn't think about that. Thank you. I'm gonna have to do a follow up and explain it's different with different worms. Ribbontail and paddletail ect ... thanks for bringing that up

I suggest always using a wacky rig ring in the largest size you can use and still maintain the bait on the hook. I get a higher percent of hook ups, land more fish, use less baits and help save the life of many fish by not leaving near as much plastic in the water. In most pay to fish small trophy lakes soft plastics are not allowed.

Very good tip. Wow didn't know that about the trophy lakes I don't think I've ran into a lake like that yet that didnt let u use soft plastics. Crazy

A question, are senkos effektive on Perch or do you recommend other lures? Greets from Germany

Welcome to the channel. For perch I would use the smaller ned rig worms. I don't have any made ATM but I'm sure it would be cheaper to get them locally or make them yourself with a mold. It's not very hard to make them. The mold I use is the midwest finesse 4 inch worms from DoIt Soft Plastics. I've never fished in Germany what do you mainly fish for there?

@OnlyfinsfishingOK unfortunately, no bass or crappie.
We fish for perch, pike and walleye here. Would love to have some bass here.

Our northern lakes have pike and perch. We have walleye in our lakes here in Oklahoma city via Lake hefner. We also have sauger and saugeye the mixed variety. I like fishing for walleye. That's some good tasting fish.
