  • When it comes to bass fishing pressured waters, few presentations can match the fish catching ability of a wacky rig. However, there is another technique that is not only as effective as a wacky rigged worm, it's also extremely versatile and weedless. In this video, we'll cover all the details about a technique that might just be better than a good old wacky rig! #fishing #bassfishing #fishingtips

      Is that the one where you trap about 100 of your lures in a box with David Koresh and set it on fire? 🤔😶

    Just a super great setup! You absolutely nailed that one and all the working with it the last year has really paid off! Well done.

      Thank you so much! I certainly have more respect for creators who do a lot of underwater footage! It's not at all easy to get it right. I had to resort to using my mother-in-law's pool because our water has been so muddy since a strong storm blew through.

    Very good approach to fishing a worm, one of the best ways to catch 'em. Congrats on a nice variation on an old theme.

    A wacky worm has been my go to bait for years. I've used those weedless wacky hooks, but they never really worked like I want them to. This setup has promise and I will for sure use it.

      I was having the same problems with weedless wacky hooks. They were never very weedless.

    Awesome video ! I'm definitely gonna give it a try at some point soon. It seems the bass this year is definitely being picky, but even more so, it seems to me my main fishery bass are being heavily pressured this year more than ever. So this rig definitely will be tried by me. They definitely Thanks Lowbrow.

      @LowBrowFishing Yes, me too. I've been trying to think of something a little different to entice because, like I mentioned, the Bass here at my fishery is crazy pressured this year. So this tip came in at a good time. I've never fished the Waco.

    I have caught hundreds of bass with this setup. I use a 5/0 hook for added weight, no nail. Also, a split shot 18" above the hook for deeper water works great too. An orange one on a bed is deadly.

    Great idea
    I normally use a wacky rig . Sometimes I add a weight the same way you are but still wacky.
    I don’t have much luck weightless
    Texas , but great luck tail weighted Texas so the worm falls away from you. But since your method falls similar to a wacky ,I
    will have a go at it. Thanks

  • @noid3001
    @noid3001 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Would there be a way to incorporate one of Core Tackles weighted hover type hooks somewhere in between the head and tail of a worm to get this effect maybe even by reversing it so the head end is treated as the tail.

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  Před 2 měsíci

      You can try that, but it would seriously deform the worm, plus it would be hard to Texas rig. And I don't know how well it would work in the water. If you can get it to work, let us know!

  • @skeeterjones535
    @skeeterjones535 Před 3 měsíci +1

    I tried a couple of times but all I had was lead nail weights and my worm was crooked. I'll try making the weight smaller or using tungsten.

    What weight size would you recommend for 5-10ft of water range?

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  Před 3 měsíci

      Anything around 1/16 oz or 1/32 oz. depending on how fast you want it to fall. For more active bass, more weight, for less active bass, a lighter weight is generally how I do it.

  • @moremut
    @moremut Před 2 měsíci +1

    Hey Low Brow i just started watching your videos. I think they are excellent and I wanted to ask you because I am a bank fisherman if I go To the lake or the river what is the first thing I should try to use a Texas rig or a chatter bait or bait? What would you do?

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  Před 2 měsíci +1

      First thing I do is look at the water and the conditions. Do I want to cover water quickly or pick apart a specific piece of cover or structure? How deep and clear is the water? If I need to work faster or those bass show they're very active, then I might go with something like a bladed jig or a crankbait depending on fishing pressure or vegetation. If I want to target a laydown, a flooded brush, or something like a rock pile, then A Texas rig is a great way to go. Hope that helps.

    Best stock up on those tungsten nail weights as bad as those baits sling off when catching a fish!

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  Před 3 měsíci

      I do lose a few here and there, but not as many as you would think. Usually, the worm just gets knocked up the line like it does on a wacky rig.

    • @jeffreywaters3934
      @jeffreywaters3934 Před 3 měsíci +1

      I love the concept! cause you are exactly right about fishing wacky rigs in the snags!! I'm all rigged up and will report, but I already know its going to work! And to you my friend I'm giving all the credit for thinking outside the box!!! Fantastic idea!

  • @jeffreywaters3934
    @jeffreywaters3934 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Can you use a bigger hook? Maybe 2/0 or 3/0 EWG? or will that affect the action?

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  Před 3 měsíci

      A bigger hook will really affect the action. You want the tail to have as much ability to wiggle freely. Don't worry, bass will still inhale it and your hookup ratio won't be hampered at all with a small hook.

    Looks like it twists your line.

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  Před 3 měsíci

      Not really, the bait goes more side to side and doesn't twist around a lot. But I also use 10lb braid on my finesse combo, so line twist isn't really that much of a bother.

      @Garminrules Před 3 měsíci

  • @paulemma8125

    Can’t you just use a nail? A Home Depot nail?

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  Před 3 měsíci

      You can try it, but a small nail wouldn't be heavy enough to really do any good and a larger nail would seriously distort the worm's shape and kill the action.
