Breaks my heart that this is mobile only. I would love to play on the Switch. The first Octopath Traveler was something special.
You'd be surprised, but for a mobile game, it's actually pretty amazingly made. It honestly feels like a proper console game.

Damn straight. I actually didn't have my hopes high for this when they announced that it was only for mobile, but when I decided to give it a try, I was actually surprised at how well made it was. It honestly feels like a proper console port, and the fact that it doesn't really have predatory monetization that gets in your face every so often, helps to emphasize this feeling.
Good RPG game, not so much as gacha. Thankfully it didn't even reminded me it was a gacha so I played throught the entire campaign without spending any premium currency. It's indeed a single-player game experience.

I aint buying if its not the same as the octopath traveler on switch. I rather buy a complete polished game than a free to play turned to pay to win or what.

Did you have to spend money while playing? I hear mixed feelings about the microtransactions in this one.
I doubt this game has an ending or multiple playthroughs. 5 star characters are always a bad sign
@@Dtgray12 Sorry I meant the original octopath (first one)game. For the original octopath game I only paid for the game. I think there r extra download content u would have to pay but idk about that.
@@Dtgray12 No you don't have to pay at all. The game can be done with the characters given to you or even with 3* or 4*

They ported Mobius FF to PC, so maybe one day.

This is one of the best mobile jrpg’s I’ve played but it’s really a shame it’s only on mobile and there is no English dub for the game

it’s a single player rpg with no pvp content and events are permanent. it is a gacha but you don’t need to pay for anything.

i prefer full games obviously but who knows... weirdly as a long time series fan i enjoyed KOF All Stars with its weird collabs and funny side quests more than I enjoyed the actual fighting game.

Play this first since it’s free. You don’t have to spend a dime to beat anything in this game. If you like it, buy the original. If you don’t like it, great, you can save money.
Gameplay is very very similar. Instead of a party of 8, you have a party of 4.
Definitely reccomend to play the original Octopath first.. but if you want to have a feel of how the battle system works or just look at the game's art , you can go ahead and get cotc first! The battle mechanics for both games are different, and personally I love the original Octopath much more.

People in the West forget how big the mobile market is overseas. Always wondering why it’s not a console release, but phones are not only cheaper, but most phones can out perform a console any day

@@davidhamid8025 they announced around the same time as this game that they plan on a proper sequel as well as mobile prequel. We'll probably see a reveal within the next year or so

This game is very cool, there is simply no alternative on mobile devices, not only does it repeat its gameplay and mechanics from the PC, but the control is much easier.

I'm gonna wait 10+ years for the potential of this game being offline, if at all possible. The fomo is killing me. I know not every character is needed to clear the game, but for completionist like me, I just can't deal with it.
Such a shame good JRPG these days are gacha. I'm not against it tho (Genshin player here), but my backlog of JRPG are enormous so I can wait.

Octopath traveler 2 is alot more easier than champions lol. In part 2 you can buy all healing potions and revives you want and have all the weapons types to defeat bosses. Champions you can't do that it's very limited what you can do. can't use items and can only revive and heal with certain characters

Hi, I really like the OCTOPATH games. One suggestion I have is to include more body size and skin colour diversity in the characters. I notice most characters have light skin tones except for 1 or two. Also almost all of the characters are very thin, small waist big boobs for the females and thin and muscular for the men. The only larger body character (Yugo) is portrayed as lazy. I would greatly appreciate characters representing a variety of body sizes (and ages) and not pigeonholing the larger bodies as lazy or undesirable.
I have decidedly spent money on this game to support your work as I appreciate your product, please help me and many others love it even more through inclusivity!

No idea why they took so long to get it over on this end. Square enix really needs to make their mobile endeavors day and date Ava since they keep failing here more properly customize it for the western audience.

My only issue with the last game was the lack of party member interactions on quests. Mass Effect had a way to immersive you as the player when choosing your companions for certain missions. The last game really didn't though.
Party members barely talked with each other and didn't really feel that spark of working as a team with each of your eight characters. Although this is a moblie game, I really hope that they did listen to fans and those who played the first game about what was wrong with it.
Don't get me wrong, gameplay wise, it feels like I'm playing final fantasy all over again. But story wise, it felt rushed and cliche. I hope that isn't the case here.

The story looks way less cliche in COTC with some really interesting themes tackled so I think it's worth the try
The gameplay turned me off. It never changed and had no depth. Find the weakness, store actions, time the break for max efficiency and kill adds.

@@FarZeroDark Well there is 8 characters in a party now and every characters is way more focused on a certain role than before so team building is quite interesting now with the mechanic of Front and Back row.
