Octopath was amazing. Every time I continued my journey I was in a zen mode. It's like playing an old Retro RPG brought to the modern age, with amazing character, story, and music. I'm 45 so I played all those 16 and 32 bit games back when they were new.

Its great to see people can still enjoy what they love with the same passion even in differents part of life, the magic of interactive art as videogames are, This sequel is looking great, they say you should never be too hyped for a game before it comes out but its difficult for this one lmao.
I’m 22 but I grew up on Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest and Golden Sun. Nothing has really scratched that itch besides Bravely Default, but man playing Octopath Traveler really satisfied it. I’m so happy games like this are making a comeback with their own modern twists to boot! Bravely Default really did start a Renaissance of sorts for turn based JRPGs, especially for Square Enix and I’m all here for it

Honestly though the announcement of this game put me in such a great mood. Amazing voice acting , spectacular music and the animations look nicer too!

@@UTubeGenius It was such a small but neat little detail about the first game that it actually blew my mind when I realized it. Starting with Ophilia and moving clockwise the characters spell out OCTOPATH...really isn't much of a writer's trick, but it's still pretty neat.
Absolute highlight of the show. Looks phenomenal.
I love how dynamic the camera is! It moves around so much, while the first game it was mostly stationary. Everything about this game feels grander and more polished, when the first game was already breathtaking.

Why do I love this game series so much? Its character stories are at best an 8/10. There are frustratingly few character interactions between the main cast and the ones we do have mean very little. Villians are a hit or miss. The town's areas are visually pleasing but restricting and limited. The world exploration is significant but feels empty and only useful for random encounters and grinding. And the final secret boss that ties the story together is extremely difficult and complicated to beat.
And yet the things this game series does well, at least for the first octopath traveler, still compels me to adore everything about it regardless of imperfections. Its music is beautiful and stunning, with each theme drawing upon each character's identity and the idea of adventure. The visuals are stunning and unique. The gameplay is strategic and well thought out, yet epic when it is mastered. The world is still limiting, but there is also an imagination of adventure as you yourself are a traveler that goes to different places and experiences the stories in those areas. Its characters, while limited to their own stories, are people you watch grow, travel, and experience fascinating or funny things that make them each likable in their own way. And because of that aspect, you will greatly enjoy the events that the characters go through.
Oberic dealing with a loss of purpose, Cyrus dealing with the ethics of knowledge, Tressa striving to make her own story, Ophilia healing her family, Primrose coming to terms with her revenge, Alfin questioning his philosophy as a doctor, Therion learning to trust again, and H'aanit becoming a legendary hunter (while also slay a freaking dragon!)
Honestly speaking, of course Octpath has flaws to it. If I had one major complaint, it would be that there was so much potential that wasn't acted upon and thus left the game feeling lackluster to many.
Octopath Traveler 2 presents a unique situation where it could be everything that the first game could have been and so much more. This may happen or maybe it won't and the sequel could fall face-first into the ground with its storytelling the same way the first game did.
But either way, I think I'll be able to enjoy this sequel with all the flaws it will have.
(p.s.... thank you for reading this far if you did. Don't think too much behind my words. I simply wanted to get my thoughts out even if no one will hear. May you enjoy your day wherever you are.)

I have faith in 2. Octopath Traveler COTC has amazing character & a main story line way better than the original. Very dark and intriguing.
I love the first game even though I didn't beat it, but I sank a lot of hours into it. My main gripes were battles taking long at times, you max out your characters moves too quickly, and later in the game leveling up takes a long time as well. I hope the sequel fixes some of these
I feel the biggest flaw in the first OT game was how underwhelming some of the main character's stories were. Like... Other than Primrose and Therion, I didn't really care about any of the other characters. Which was a HUGE disappointment, considering how both Primrose and Therion's character shared similar tragedies of betrayal that their character relationship weren't further developed, or acted on. A waste of a miss opportunity. And this goes for the other characters as well. Other than that, everything else about the first OT was solid.
I’m so excited. I put almost 100 hrs in the first game on Switch and I had an absolute blast. The music is also one of the best osts I’ve heard.
Definitely my most anticipated game from the entire Nintendo Direct!!

Didn't expect them to announce it so soon after cotc went global, but I guess it's a great time to be alive if you're a fan of the series. Though I loved everything I saw I'm still a bit sad that they went with completely new characters in a new land, I was hoping for a return of most or at least part of the original cast

means you can only find limited stock for physical copies of Octopath Traveler, same is true for XenoBlade 2 which has since inflated in price. I have at least still been able to find copies for OT relatively easy still.

Agnea is definitely voiced by Xanthe Huynh who also voiced Altina from Trails of Cold Steel and Marianne from Fire Emblem Three Houses/Hopes.
On BTVA, it's confirmed that Agnea in Japanese is Inori Minase, who also voiced Altina in Cold Steel 3 and 4. Looks like Altina became a Dancer now.

I hope the story actually intertwines more for all of the 8 travellers rather than having to do the secret boss.
The characters interact with one another now, so the connections will be more obvious now.

The 1st game was actually harder than I thought it would be. Definitely one of the best RPGs I've played in the last decade.

Despite not being able to get into the first game, I have a good feeling I will enjoy this sequel. It looks so good and promising! It looks like the stories will be more engaging and immersive. I liked the characters from the first game but couldn't get into their stories and wasn't a fan that the characters didn't hardly interact with each other. I liked the setting and loved the music though.
However with Octopath Traveler 2 it looks like the characters will talk to each other! I was worried it would only be on Switch when the trailer played and hoped for Steam too but as soon as I saw the PS4 and PS5 logo I jumped for joy. I really do hope I will enjoy this game and it will be a different outcome to the first game. I'm looking forward to playing Octopath Traveler 2.

Being such a huge fan of the first I can already tell how much they've changed. Walk animations are different for each person, camera angles for attacks, boss animations, and so much more. I hope I forget what I've seen in this trailer because I'm pretty sure I spotted 3 of the "secret" job classes towards the end of the trailer lol. I hope they add so much more to the job classes. Even secondary appearances for each..idk lol Either way I'm excited for this game.

This takes place in a different continent and time period. So sadly, the original cast won't make a return. Maybe their ancestors/descendents will though!
The stories in the mobile champions of the continent were so good. I really hope this one gets better stories like that that are darker and deeper.
I never thought we would get a sequel to this game, so happy
I really enjoyed the first game and I'm excited about this one. But I feel like there was a huge missed opportunity to have all the characters in a more epic singular storyline after you completed each individual storyline.
Given it has the main theme playing I'm really hoping it will be composed by Yasunori Nishiki again
