This is a primal movement beginner video where I demonstrate some simple movements and a flow you can use to start natural movement training. The first part is a tutorial of various positions and movements you should practice regularly, then the last part is a follow along beginner flow that I repeat 3 times.
I recently started following a program called Animal Flow created by Mike Fitch from Global Bodyweight Training (animalflow.com/) and I'm REALLY impressed with the strength, stability and mobility benefits I've gained in the short month or two that I've been doing it. I highly recommend the program if you're interested.
Primal movement is all about keeping low to the ground and doing natural, animalistic movements that challenge your strength, stability and mobility. It's not about doing sets and reps; it's about learning to move in new, creative ways and gaining control in those movement patterns. Part of the fun of natural movement is the creative factor. You get to learn (and even invent your own) new movements and then try to connect them all and develop flows. It's really a fun and different style of training.
I hope you enjoy this video and it opens your mind to this new type of exercise. I'm hooked, if you can't tell :)

This kicked my butt so bad. As a former college athlete and boxer I'm blown away that this revealed so many weaknesses I have had my whole life.
Same here! I wish I had this when I played 🥲
Yoga Poses: "The Peaceful flower"
Primal Movement: "The fanged Beast of death"
Awesome routine though, love the video!
Instablaster.
Hilarious!
Please do some more Primal Movement videos Ryan. I REALLY enjoyed this. It is helping with my stiff lumbar spine.
Same
Same
Just like to say something about it. (I‘m a physical therapist).
It‘s almost impossible to have a stiff lumber spine surely for a woman. But your lower thoracic spine could be.
Either way the movements will help that.
@@pillepalle3614 maybe "unlikely" but "almost impossible" seems strange based on personal experience and hearing many stories (including from younger women, so not just pregnancy lumbar pain). why do you think it's so rare?
Please do more
More primal movement flows. This was great
I like it because it's really familiar. I do most of these stretches naturally almost everyday. I like how there is a structure and folks have named these poses for us to benefit. I appreciate how he repeats his sets for us to see. Those wrist stretches being a delivery driver is really going to change the game for my circulatory system. Thanks man!
Man, I've just discovered all these "moving/animal" kind of training. Did many routines today, this one you upload is very well explained and easy to follow. Keep this flow routines coming, great work!
Love the way how the movements were dissected. Checking all your vids I can atm. Thanks man!
This has helped me a lot, after practicing these load and unload variations for a couple of weeks I can do the beast walk effortlessly, I can now move faster on all fours forward and backwards, to make it more challenging I might add some weights on my back
This looks really cool; i will definitely be adding this. Thanks
It's fascinating how well my yoga practice carries over ! Essentially what we did was downward dog-to-upward dog, and ape is judt a wider variation of yogi squat :)
You explained this very clearly. Great teacher.
Perhaps the best explanation of transitions I’ve come across, thanks Ryan
Best workout I've had at home doing self quarantine! Feel amazing after
Yes. Agree! This was a trip.
So helpful! There are a lot of animal flow videos that move too quickly into motions and positions that are impossible for a true beginner who has never done anything like this. But this video helps a novice slowly build up a foundation for more advanced positions. There's more than enough in the first 5 minutes to keep me challenged for weeks...
This is awesome! Thank you. I’ve added it to my mobility workouts to improve my flow when climbing.
Thank you so much! I have been trying to learn natural movement skills and this video is the best I have tried yet!
First time watching your tutorial! I love how you explained each movement and gave enough time for us to repeat it. Thank you! i'm excited to learn with you.
After doing this a couple of times my body already feels much better. It will make a great addition to my daily stretching and mobility work. Thanks a bunch!
Wow. That was a rush. I did this post lifting to try and find a leg and core workout. Man. You’re on to something here.
Thanks Ryan, a whole new dimension to add! Really well explained as usual.
Great tutorial thanks I’m definitely going to do this.
Incredible! Feels great, has my HR and breathing up, and was easy to follow. Thanks for sharing!
Just what i'm looking for when i search for primal motor locomotor exercises. Barely could do it, thanks for the well-crafted instructions.
Never knew these types of work outs existed. Can’t wait to try it, and looking forward to more.
Kids just playing around do all this stuff. Once a guy turns around 10 years old, he is too cool for it. Breakdancers also do everything here.
This is an excellent intro to functional animal movements!!! All of your instructional videos are top-notch professional quality!! Thanks so much for all you do!!!
Just did this. Only 3 rounds and god, the burn was AMAZING! This looks beautiful and demands so much strength at the same time.
Thank you so much!!! ❤️
Wow. I've been doing yoga and was thinking ok, maybe I'm ready to try this new thing. That was really hard but felt great. I definitely want to incorporate more of this into my workouts! Thanks!
Great structure, thank you! I like how you explain the singular steps first and then adding a 3 set workout in total.
Would love to see more of these!!
English is not my mother language, but i understand you very well because the way that you explain all and share It with us. It is obvious that you love what you are doing, and we can receive that from you. Thank you so much!!!
I'm so glad to find you!!
I keep coming back to these, I’m practicing the basics shown here twice a week. Hope to see more of these vids in 2023!
Great tutorial, I was looking for it!!! Thanks for sharing
Wow! What a great follow along!
I hope you go on for a long time with this practise!
Thanks
Thanks for the tutorial Ryan. I'm following it to do it everyday and maintain my strength and flexibility without a gym. You're awesome!!
This is the best explanation that I found! Thanks for your effort and your patience to explain step by step. Looking forward to the next primal movement video.
AWESOME vid man, loved it!! Will definitiely keep using this excercises
I was looking for a step by step to animal flow. Think I got it . Thank u. Perfect for me.
This is so much fun! I will dedicate Thursday as my active recovery day from the gym to do this animal flow! Thank you so much!

Awesome instructional video. Tyvm!
I keep coming back to this video. very useful moves!
This is the first video of yours that I've seen and I'm so impressed. Thank you so much for this!
Love this, Ryan. I practice similar poses & movements in yoga but a few are new to me. 🙏
I love how it went from finger stretches and baby crawl to STATIC BEAST!! 0 TO 100 real quick
Haha! 😂
So excited about Animal Flow! Today was day one for me and I kinda suck at it but looking forward to getting more fluid. Thank you for doing such a detailed video for us beginners.
Great starting point for these movements, thanks!
Eagerly awaiting your level 2 video ;-)
This level 1 you shared was just a gem. Currently doing this, followed by the "easy" variations of burpees you present in your videos now, twice a day, for 40 days. Based on my progress, I'm going to make more use of the harder burpee variations (but keeping a max of 30 burpees per one sitting).
Thank you so much, you made a yoga teacher really happy dong "other" movements than his usual ones.
thanks so much!! - going to do this everyday during lockdown! - thanks
One of the best for beginners ! Thanks !
I love this - thank you! It has helped me tune in and become mindful to the mobility and muscle activation required.
For my current body type and weight a few minutes of this blows the gym away, plus its whole body which makes it all the more awesome
Thank you for this. You explained the moves really simply
Excellent video, thanks for posting
thank you so much,it is the best video i found so far🙏🏻
so graceful and yet a great workout
very good explanation and the way you pause the positions !!!! just lovely for beginners. thanks
First time and my quads are killing me!! It's been a great workout, been looking for this for some time. Thanks!
I am trying the wrist exercises. For the little bit of exercise I did, it really helped. Thank you.
Really love your stuff. Thanks for sharing and explaining so clearly
I'm intermediate by calisthenics standards in terms of lifts, and this workout had me sweating half way in! I didn't even do the flows. So enlightening and fun!
Trev Barlow I'm glad you liked it!
@@MinusTheGym I do 4 full-body workouts a week. Should I do these on my rest days or a few hours after or before my full-body workout? Thanks
This was really well explained, thanks!
Thank you for this awesome routine! Please make more follow along videos like this!
Thanks a lot for sharing this. I recently got into animal movement and the flow you showed here is really fun to do and play around with... Also your explanations are great and your calm way helps to get into this flow kind of like getting into meditation. THANKS!
Bro really enjoyed this, thank you.
This video is so good. I only discovered primal movement recently but I enjoy it a lot and it‘s improved my balance and stability already. Thanks for the video!
Awesome stuff! I just started playing around with dragon walks which led me here. The static exercises look like a great way to build up the fundamentals. Really fun way to do bodyweight stuff! 😎💪👍
I love your instruction! Thanks a ton!
GREAT FOR BEGINNER. I REALLY ENJOYED IT . WELL PLANNED.
Great routine. I appreciate you going slow with these moves. Most who go through these moves just race right through them to where one has to pause every 5 seconds.
the best tutorial i have seen on this-respect
The best tutorial I’ve seen so far and I’ve seen a lot 🙄💪🏽 thanks!

OMG, great beginner guide, wasn't sure if a 60 year old could even attempt these movements but I got through tutorial phase only. Will need to practice for a couple weeks before moving on to the "Flow Workout".
Great work love doing primal movement even better when you get out in nature and apply these skills to moving and climbing through natural terrain, trees, rock outcropping etc! Just got yourself another subscriber!
