It's my go-to rather than the .243 but it just needs 1 to 2 more expansion to make it stronger.
Yeah the effective range is more like maximum point blank range. I've taken red deer with the 3030 at 300 yards. Just got to be able to use the Kentucky windage of the rifle.
Yea red deer at 200m is bout my limit if u don't mind tracking the animals sometimes its really a great gun for a brush or forest

I was always complaining that we'd need a gun which kills class 2-4 and is properly zeroed, since the 243 and 223 are dead on at 250m when zeroed for 300m. It doesn't change the situation a whole lot, since the 30-30 is 150m max, but this is certainly a way to mix things up. Wasn't thinking about that gun at all. So thanks for the reminder.
I carry the .30-30 in game quite often and have taken red deer with it, it’s max class being 6, and it was not ideal for them. Broadside at around 75 meters double lung was possible and they ran 150 meters or so before going down.
Have you considered using the soft/hollow point bullets for lower class and polies/soft for upper class? E.g. hollow for 2-3 and soft round for 4-6 on the .30-30?
I used the hollows on Roes and they bleed out quick despite low penetration.
Used to do right the other way at a time. Like barely anithing that kept integrity on let's say fallow gave a half decent quick kill, 30-30 hollow points used to be quite consistant on those bastards. With current scoring hollow points don't have anithing going for them.
The 30-30 is great for musk deer and lynx grinding but other then that I don’t really use it, I’d prefer the 45-70

Well, in looking at ballistic tables in real life a 30.30, in general, has a max effective range of around 200 yards depending on grain and bullet manufacturer, so 150m isn't too far off. At 300 yds, a 30.30 will typically have a drop of around a foot, past that you are looking at several feet worth of drop. So the devs did really well with making it fairly accurate to the real deal.
Hollow points for fox, roe, and coyote especially in brushy areas.
Not a big powerhouse. Too bad nice gun. Love the vid bud. Keep them coming.
What about red deer and caribou? Maybe wolves as well
This gun was the most difficult gun to get a diamond with for me next to the 357
According to my unit converter 75 meters is 82 yard.
its not a sniper rifle, but i have no problems with the 30 30 or the 45 70.
it`s just, there are a lot better options to choose from.

The first deer I shot with 30.30 hollow point shattered the front shoulder deflated both lungs removed the atrium side of the heart and ricocheted from the rear shoulder to the liver
The 30-30 in my case is for killing red foxes and coyotes, is ideal for small game and fun to shot.

If you have time I would try the hollow points under 75 meters. I've personally shot multiple whitetail and feral hogs. I think the game is extremely dismissive of soft and hollow points. Expansion is quite devastating over through and through.
It's like bullets don't drill deep enough to reach anything, half the times you just get flesh with basic soft points. As the game works, you either go for penetration, or might not bother playing.
the effective ranges are screwed up. the game says the 300 has a effective range of 50m. we all know that is wrong.
I remember the 30-30 being lethal before Silver Ridge. And now it barely effective on black & white tail deer now. i wanted to get some practice with it for Mexico after not using it for a while. but like I said for a 2-6 class gun it’s having issues on simple class 4 deer. back in the day in Call of the Wild i would use the 30-30 with the Tritium Sights all the time never need the scope. But now without the scope the gun is barely effective on even class 4 deer. it’s going to be sad hunting Mexico without the old school lever action.
If the 270 is a 4-8 then 30-30 should to because the rounds bigger

Interesting, not a rifle i have used and tbh i doubt i ever will. The 243 is far better and then if you have the weapons packs the 30-06, M1 etc are far better.
