  • RSD Sergeant V5 Review. This is the latest version of RSD's adventure bike. Set it up as a 27.5, or a 27.5+, or a 29er, or a 29x3.0, or even a 27.5x4.0. Today we take it out on a few trails in Sedona to see what it rides like. This bike is extremely versatile and is a bit of a swiss army knife. The latest version has a shorter chainstay, longer reach, and a slacker head angle than the v3 that I previously reviewed. Based in Toronto, Canada, RSD bikes has a 5% discount for all hardtail party viewers. Use coupon code "party" at checkout to get 5% off any RSD product. Learn more about the bike here: bit.ly/3zJTsN6

    Maybe I'm the only one but I prefer the POV footage than the follow cam. I love the POV on the hardtail because you can see the difference is what the hardtail is going over. When the footage is a full suspension it just looks too smooth. I watch other channels for the smooth I come here for the chunk and hardtail POV lol

      @LucasShmucas Před rokem +3

      I completely agree. I much prefer the POV. The follow cam disassosicates me from the video. It's not as immersive and ultimately not as enjoyable. I stopped watching this one quite quickly because of that. 😢

    I was out in Sedona a few weeks ago and rode this trail and it was a blast but so sketchy! I had limited time and the day I planned to ride Hogs it was snowing/freezing rain! First time riding the trail in sketchy weather made the exposed and steep slabs very scary. Would love to come back and ride again soon, you’re lucky to live in such an amazing area!

    Since its your newest video I'm thanking you here. I live in Wisconsin, and we pedal a lot. I just ordered a SC chameleon R spec 29er and your videos helped me decide. Thank you for reminding me how great hardtails are. I sold my SC 5010 full suspension to fund this chameleon. The only upgrade I'm doing instantly is a Hydra rear hub in the stock wheel set. Thank you!

    Hello Steve, I really enjoy your content and it’s very nice to see reviews of hardtail’s from someone who actually rides hard tails. I am currently comparing a lot of value hardtail‘s, and I’m really looking at them on one hell of a day I have noticed you have not reviewed it yet which I would love to see but I am curious as to what your thoughts on it are. It is currently on sale for about $1300 with an incredible spec, pike fork and a full GX drivetrain which to me seems almost unbelievable.

    Really glad to see that you liked to ride it after the glowing build video. I commented on the great range of wheel sizes. I am that of which you speak. That jack of all trades, master of none. I was a commercial maintenance engineer for the last 15+ years of my employed life. I really am interested in this bike. Made for my terrain & climate by guys in my climate and ride similar terrain. Great video Steve. I like to ride different stuf at different times of the year. swapping wheel/tire combos is the easiest way to have fun if you bring just one bike.

    I’ve never had the chance to ride a 27.5 plus, but they look like a ton of fun. There isn’t a ton of bike variety here in Michigan to see on the trails or try. Mostly cross country style bikes and gravel bikes.

  • @johnnydoe66
    @johnnydoe66 Před rokem +2

    I absolutely love 27.5+ tires on my 120mm forked HT.
    I would be interested in what your overall favorite tires are and why. I know what you ride on your trails won't fit every viewer out there, I am just interested in your personal choices. Personally, I love an aggressive trail/ enduro style of tread for my trails, I am not worried about speed, just grip and durability.

    • @nlights6

      Would you say you have less chance of punctures on a 27.5+ tire ??

    • @johnnydoe66
      @johnnydoe66 Před rokem

      @nlights6 I have only had two punctures in 3 yrs, but the sealant did its job. I use Orange Seal Endurance and one puncture was probably over a quarter inch. Never had any sidewall tears and I ride alot of rock

    Hey Steve, greetings from the Far East and love the show man 😀I really enjoy your ride reviews but I love your bike builds and challenges, and the Viewers' Hard Tales. Do you plan on doing a newer build or challenge in the near future? It would be awesome. And since I'm relatively new to the channel, I was binge watching the Klunker challenge alongside the videos from Oldshovel, but I can't find any more videos past Part 3. If I understood correctly, Part 3 should be followed up by the Klunker Custom Build and finished with your epic ride footage. Were there actually any continuation? I would really love to watch them, and more of the Viewers' Hard Tales! Stay rad dude 🤙

    For me it's a bit weird when the voice I am hearing is from another place than the rider where the video is from. I just don't like it. I'd rather just do what you normally do, and just throw in a shot here and there from another rider.
    Personally I feel it's perfectly fine by just one cam from you and the mic from the same place. I like things simple.

    • @hardtailparty
      @hardtailparty  Před rokem +2

      I appreciate the feedback. The difficulty of this trail doesn't come across well at all with the chest cam, so I wanted a followcam on this one. I rarely get a friend who is willing to film behind me, so don't worry, the majority of my other reviews will be first person only.
