- Sedona is one of those magical mountain bike destinations everyone should see once in their lifetime. And for those seeking a challenge one of the most infamous rides is a trail called Highline. The start is very chunky and rocky with many short yet steep nasty climbs. The summit is a beautiful vista point and the descent is peppered with technical moves the entire way down! In today video we check out the highline trail with two Sedona local friends, Steve from @hardtailparty and Tess from @Dustybetty .

I haven’t even finished watching but I’m already really liking the interview between Kyle and Steve. As someone who wants to be apart of the industry via CZcams, 5:26 was a really cool question and it was cool to hear Steve’s answer. This video has been really good so far and I hope you guys continue these awesome videos. Happy to see you guys back making videos and I’m glad Kyle’s feeling better
Edit: I finished watching the video and I just have to say I love the style of these videos. I also have to say, Aprils progression has been sooo good lately and it’s really cool to see Kyle back on the bike again helping here with features. The downhill looks like loads of fun but definitely not a trail you do by yourself!
Thanks Ryan! You have so much potential in the sport and we can’t wait to see where you take your channel! Can’t wait to ride with you when we get back home!!
Love it when you two drop a video. While I am not a fan of hardtails, I am a fan of bikes and his bike looked sharp. I think I like April’s the best though. April, you took that first drop in faster than I thought you would…that was smooth af!! Nice! Wow it’s beautiful there. Kyle is sneaky intelligent, I dig his sense of humor. I think he is a natural teacher. I starting watching this channel for tips and have learned SO much….Kyle’s way had me subscribing after like 1 or 2 videos…Yeah I pretty much love this channel. Super cool to see your riding, camera time and editing skills all improving at the same time April.
Ya’ll remember you have some fans (at least one lol ) that have a eMTB and would LOVE to see you two back on your eMTBs.
Awesome video, again. Be safe, have fun and I can’t wait for the next one. Kyle is looking healthier in each video….big sigh of relief.
❤
Love watching how easy Kyle makes everything look. He’s a true pro, yet so humble and chill.
Thanks so much Tony! I've spent a lot of time behind bars haha
Hey Everyone! Hope you enjoy the video! It was so fun riding with Tess & Steve and getting to show April Highline for the first time. This trail is very challenging but also very rewarding to accomplish. I think It took us around 2 -3 hours with some stopping and filming. We have addend a trailforks ride plan in the description for anyone wanting to know the distance and elevation profile. We forgot to turn April's gopro on for the first climb to the summit which is why its mostly Steve and Kyle for the first part of the video. We plan on being at the Sedona Festival coming up next weekend and we are scheduled to lead some group rides for Shimano while we are there! We hope to see some of you there and possibly even catch a ride together! Thanks again for watching and hope you have an awesome weekend!
Great video! Lots of good stuff. I miss Sedona a bunch.
Hardtails Rock! Although I’ll admit I’m moving to a FS after 15yrs on hardtails. I guess I’m old. 😳
If you’re inclined, hit up the Wanderlust Brewing tent at the festival. Tell Nathan, the owner, I sent you. 😎
Fun video, with lots of solid commentaries and well edited to highlight the key (fun) sections. It's such a fun trail that can be done pretty quickly (60-90 mins from Red Agave), or if in a group, you can take time to check out the features, typically a 2+ hour ride. One of my favourite places to ride, can't wait to get back.
All my life Riding a soft full suspension bikes as adult 5:53
Places I lives has very very rough and bumpy roads 10:50
@Night shadows 2.0 full suspension cause of places has very rough side walks that the safest way home and Work 13:12
That was such a fun day. Killer video. Let's ride again soon. Thanks for featuring us, it means a lot.
You guys are awesome! Can't wait to ride more this coming week!
I ran into Tess & Steve on Bottom-out last year and the vibe was that of “a rising tide lifts all vessels” fantastic to ride with such a supportive couple.
you all did good, many more fun adventures to you all 😊
It was so cool to ride with you both! You're such strong riders and classy, good-to-the core people.
We need to do another video with you and April leading the charge!!
French Steve and Double Black April. Dang, April killed it! Glad to hear Kyle is back near 100%! Those climbs prove it!
Thanks Charles!!!
April, you're a bad ass woman! Kyle, you are such a wonderful coach! I recently had hip surgery due to a mountain biking crash off a jump. Since then, I went on CZcams to find videos on proper riding techniques and form. Your channel is by far the best!!! I will be incorporating what I have learned from you both into my riding now. The passion for what you do really shows too
Thank you so much Talicia, we love trying to help people ride safer and enjoy things out on the trail! We plan on doing a lot more content around tutorials this year and hope you find them helpful as well!
Talicia is 🔥🔥
As I've been getting into moutain biking I am impressed with how nice everyone is. Kyle and April are no exception! Great videos and I really love your "How To" vid's!
Thank you! 😊
I really enjoyed that. Four great riders and even better human beings having a fun day in the mountains together!
Thanks so much Scott!!
Two of my absolute favorite MTB channels riding together! Can’t wait to see what DB posts. Thx for sharing!
Thank you so much Roger!!
Actually - three of my favorite channels :D
Kyle, you’re such a true gentleman. I mean that. Thank you for your videos.
Thanks so much Gabe! Thanks for watching!
It is so nice seeing my different favourite mtb CZcamsrs meet and ride trails together!
Thats awesome to hear! Thanks so much for watching! Tess and Steve are awesome!
Seeing Steve ride his Ht on a trail at such a vantage point is a fresh perspective of what he sees & how he deals with the trail.
Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines! #RideOn #KeepBiking
It was awesome to have a follow cam on this one! Seeing the speed Kyle and April take down these technical features is inspiring.
Yeah he is such a great rider! Was fun to finally ride together! Thanks for watching!
JUST a week ago, maybe 10 days... I hiked up the back side of HiLine.... Up to that point where they rolled down beside the tree. The Chute... If you've never been there, the go-pro effect is HUGE on this video! Meaning - it is a LOT steeper than it looks!
April - YOU rock. I mean, for me - MOST of that stuff is just NOPE!
Kyle with Steve following down the drain lines - I saw you take at least 3 lines that blew my mind! I had NO idea those were even lines. Nevermind the normal lines!
These things are HARD to hike up and down - and Kyle you are making it look like a day on a boardwalk! DAMN you're smooth!
LOVE this footage!
Such cool follow footage of Steve and Tess. They are so comfortable on these Sedona trails it's awesome seeing how they flow through it.
Im fascinated by how capable Steve’s hardtail is. Definitely hardtail rocks! Great video and collab!
Yeah he actually custom designed it with the frame company Bianary to work in the Sedona area!
Very cool, need more from you guys, great job with video, editing and of course shredding!
Steve is spot on about #HardTails 👊🏼💪🏼❤️🚵🏻♂️
Great on trail interview Kyle ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!
It was awesome to watch 4 of the most talented, humble, and classy riders on CZcams!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video, such good riders and awesome trails …keep em coming 😎🏁
Excellent approach, advice, and lines through some very challenging tech 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Nice double date!
Haha pretty much! The only thing missing was the bread basket!
What an awesome video! All my CZcams “favorites” in one place. Love watching down to earth couples mountain bike together and authentically enjoy it. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks for the kind words 😊
Great video, huge fan of Steve and his channel, too. So much so that I bought his bike. Once my kid gets a little older, I really want to vacation here to do some riding.
He is such an great guy and an awesome rider as well! It was fun riding with him and Tess, I love the philosophy behind his channel as wel!
Thanks for the kind words. Let's ride together when you're in town!
What a pleasure to watch you in action.
You have a high end skills and experience level !
Making those gnar sections look easy! Can't wait to be there next weekend 👍
Love it! Heading down to Sedona later this year, can't wait!
Great combo of genuinely nice people - good to see Kyle back to good health 👏👏👏
Great questions Kyle, Great answers Steve! beautiful ride !
Really good vid and nice to see you ride with the Hardtail Party guy. Respect🤟
Thanks so much for watching! Steve is rad!
“When you dream at night, do you dream of a soft tail”! Ahahah Kyle you made me laugh so hard! Great video, love seeing hardtail riders!
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video and awesome to see April’s progression and confidence in tackling such technical trails. I have just bought a full suspension MTB and will be very happy to learn just a fraction of what she is now capable of. You are a great coach Kyle.
Epic riding by all! 💪🏽 Thanks for the great video! 🙌🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow so smooth and nicely done guys amazing skills 👍👍👍👍
As a roadie down here in Tucson, I admire and am amazed with the skill required to do this. This is arguably one of the best trail biking videos I’ve ever seen. The riding, camera shots, scenery, everything! Incredible!
Thank you so much Tim!!
Can see how so many people get caught over their heads on this trail. The GoPro effect really makes it look chill, until you turn around and look back up a cliff face.
Haha true! its pretty brutal!!
Tess & Steve are awesome people. Had an amazing ride with them up in Downieville once. So much fun. They have great personalities. Love every chance I get to hang out with them.
Hey! Yeah they are so awesome! Are you gonna be down at Sedona? Hope we can connect soon!!
@@AprilRideMTB Yeah, I’ll be in Sedona. If you guys are going to still be there, will be fun to catch up!
Two of my favorite youtube bikers. Awesome to see yall come together.
Absolutely love how positive you guys are and the riding is 🔥💥🔥💥🔥!
Thank you so much Scott! We love riding and spreading the stoke with everyone!
I share Steve's perspective on the use of hardtails in mountainbiking. If I may add, biking on a hardtail is a humbling experience. It begs me to be a disciplined rider.
Fantastic channel you 2, so glad to see you both back enjoying your biking and the trails look amazing
Thank you so much Lee!
Hands down, my favorite channel. Great attitude. Great knowledge. Great patience. Great skill. The interview ride was great. Keep up the great work.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for the kind words!!
Kyle has mad skills as always, and April is so inspirational, riding such tech stuff!
Haha thanks Matt!!
You guys crushed it, glad you got the ride Sedona before the festival.
Steve and Tess are awesome! Been following them for years. Nobody better to show you guys around Shredona
Hey Brett! Yeah they are so rad, same on camera as in person for sure! Hope to ride with you sometime soon man!
I didn’t even realize I was watching several of your videos (and enjoying them), so I subscribed
Good job
Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for watching! We are hoping this will help some people see the trail and learn some of the harder moves for the first time. Its definitely a technical one on the way down!
What an amazing trail, I think we were able to appreciate the scenery better than you could. Again I am so impressed with April's achievements. Brilliant video.
Haha thanks Faith, definitely easier to appreciate the scenery when not trying to stay off the edge! 😊
Awesome video as always. It shows how special a rider you are and April is just inspiring...
Thank you so much Nonie! 😊
Probably been mountain biking longer than any of your other viewers (Larkspur, 1977). Love your advice. Really works, and is fun.
But hey, Highline is a blast, and yes, the downhills are terrifying for most folks (me included). Full disclosure, I always walked the most technical sections.
Hey Randy! Yeah i was glad when Steve talked about how many people end up getting in over their head on Highline. There are some very technical sections that just aren't quite worth it for a lot of people but for those who enjoy the adventure, scenery, and challenge of it all it is a great ride!
RV in da house…?!? Legend ! 🤛
I rode this last summer and walked many descents as well. Amazing trail
Great video and great to see Kyle's cardio getting better each video! So, so glad!
Thank you! Yeah i feel 95-100% now, especially after the month of training i did in Jan/Feb. Just posted a big update on my instagram yesterday but we are so excited to be back out on the trails and riding again!
Def love this collab with Steve! Also def calling that move the French Steve whenever I do it!
So glad to see you fully back in the game, Kyle. Chapeau.
Outstanding job on the switchbacks…. Cheers. 🤙🤙🤙🍺🍺🍺💥💥💥💥🚴🚴🚴🚴
More video collaboration from you guys hitting other trail. Ride safe guys. Thank you for the videos.
I’ve watched several hiline videos and have ridden it myself, Kyle you make everything look so smooth. You are an incredible rider. Glad your health is coming around. Keep making the tutorials!!
Thanks so much Michael! We have a bunch of fun tutorials planned for this year!
Great video and inspired riding as usual! I hit the Sedona trails today for the first time - not ready for high line, but did a nice 12 mile loop with Chuckwagon, Mescal, Aerie lower/upper, etc. What a great place to ride!
Nice that you guys are back!
Thanks Thomas! Yeah we are glad to be back, hoping to put out some fun videos this year!!
Dam Kyle that climb out. your like the Energizer bunny lol good stuff guys 🤘
Great video...well worth the 25 min....what a beautiful view...what a crazy technical ride....cheers 🇨🇦
Thank you so much for watching! It was a beautiful day! Can’t wait to do some more trails in the Sedona area :)
Great job guys, loved you all mixing it up and breaking down specific techniques for various levels of trail difficulty and how to tackle the harder and more unique features found on this trail, definitely learnt a lot to help me step up my game on the trails. Keep up the good work.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and fantastic location…!!! 😅👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow, way cool. That trail is waaaaay harder than it looks on camera. That section at the very beginning of the downhill is pretty sketch, and April hit it like a boss. I like seeing her continue to progress and increasing her confidence. And then of course Kyle clears sections that most of us don't think are even possible. You guys are always fun to watch, so keep it up! Ride safe and have fun.
Thanks so much for watching Matt! Yeah that trail is so gnarly in person haha, i was really proud of April at the top too! That turn is scary, plus hitting the first half of the chute was awesome!
Nice to see Steve on a 2nd person view! Great video! Hardtails rock
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing
wow highline is no joke, technical trails, but you guys and gals ride it nicely. hope some day too visit and ride sedona trails
Fun to see you guys together with Tess and Steve!! I watch all your channels! I'm a hard tail guy too, but Steve makes it look easy.
Thanks Jim! He is such a great rider!!
I would love to see more tutorial videos! I miss those! They were some of the best tutorials I've found!
Thanks Jeff, we are going to try and get more done this year!
Steve is a great guy his chanel is one of my favorites he knows so much about geometry and stuff and he is the reason why i dont have full suspension any more
Wow, April looks in total command of the bike in these technical sections, great to see! Also, seeing Kyle tackle the chute at race speed was a sight to behold. Great to see this collaboration, Steve's and your channels are my favorite mtb content by far
Thank you so much!!!
Steve rockin' the short cranks!
Thanks for taking us along on an amazing ride!
Glad you enjoyed it Len!
Another fun video. Skills Kyle! Yeah. And good job April. Aloha!
Thanks so much Grant! Hope you have been doing awesome :)
Great run. Love watching you both on your channel here.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Glad you are feeling better Kyle. Looking strong
Good episode!!
A longtime favorite trail... scary cool... be ready...
Nice riding everyone! Sedona trails so nice, some of the best. Glad you're recovering well, Kyle. Love your channel! White Line next???
Thank you! Kyle has done the White Line, I hiked it absolutely terrified and it's safe to say I will never try it haha Here's the video of Kyle doing it czcams.com/video/79CsyxIFDqM/video.html
Yaaaaay some of my favorite youtubers all in one video 🤙🏻
Thanks Dirt Wolf!!
Love your channel! Stoked to stumble into it off of a cushcore video. ha
Glad you found us!
This was great! I got married near there in 2013, with Cathedral Rock in the background! I wasn't a mountain biker at the time, so I didn't really appreciate the trails there, but with my 10 year anniversary coming up, and not having been back to AZ since, I think I'm going back to Sedona for an anniversary celebration and to ride those trails!
Thanks for sharing this technical riding school, wow! I guess the other trail that gets a lot of attention for the tech and see why. Steve and Betty have great content and Steve has the most information on the details of hardtail bikes and frames better than anyone else. #hardtailparty
Thanks for watching! Yeah Steve's channel is super awesome!
Kyle’s riding is excellent!! Nicely done!!
Holy kyle!that is freaking impressive you’re technical climbing skills is really sick!100% hands down to you kyle and crew!
Thank you so much! I love those billy goat lines haha!
I ride a Rocky Mountain Growler for exactly the reasons Steve laid out.
Thats awesome! He is such a rad guy and i am fully on board with his messaging too. I think the industry should really be more inviting of those on all bikes. Anyone who made it to the trailhead regardless of bike is doing more than 100% of the people at home.
Thanks for the video. That was one pretty hard day out. Very rocky and very steep in so many places. 'A lot of people get over their head on this one'. I can imagine, even at slow speeds (love the way Kyle can effortlessly go race mode at any point). Thankfully, I'm safe watching it from here. Great scenery too. Nice going with friends.
Thanks so much Mr smith! Yeah its a really technical trail that many people can underestimate the way its been talked about for years. Glad you enjoyed the scenery, its beautiful out there!
I saw you kyle last saturday at sedona mountain bike festival around 4-5pm last saturday. It's an honor to see MTB youtubers in the festival. looking forward to watch your vids.
Thank you so much!!!
Impossible to watch one of your videos & not have a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing! 🔥
Happy to hear that! 😁
Finally got to ride here this week, the big moves on the descent are in my skill set, but not when I’m on vacation. I rode about half. Fun trail!!
Incredible landscape! Great ride.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!
Goli! Kyle that's some crazy trails and u just smoke it like nothing Man! Kudos to you..and April she's so good just smoking those boulders..Dynamite!! Job Guys
Thanks so much!
Went to Sedona about 12 years ago, rented bikes and just had hardtails. Great place to ride and great scenery. Some things I miss about Arizona and this place is one of them. Wish I would have cherished more of my time there to be honest nice place to mountain bike.
Hope you make it back again sometime!
Wow! April it's amazing to see you crush this trail after only mountain biking a couple of years. VERY impressive. Kyle - you are truly super human! Your skills are above and beyond and my jaw dropped a couple of times watching some of the things you pulled off. I love how you keep it fun, encourage others, and stay humble, even though you are basically superman, lol. Another fantastic video. Thanks to both of you and keep up the great work!
Thanks so much!!
The most amazing video you guys have done so far......was loving every moment of it.... Please try and do more videos of you both riding on trails like this..... Ride Safe!!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
@@AprilRideMTB please do more videos of you both riding technical stuff. Also.... I have noticed you guys are not posting videos quite often now and I was really waiting for a video till I saw this one.
What a nice video !! ❤ 👍
Thanks so much Jose!
nice trail, some good riding
It has been a while but really enjoyed this video. Great job w/ the editing and thank you for showing the trail up close. That was some awesome technical climbing Kyle. I wish I could climb nearly as good. Sick video, Kyle. 🫵
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!!
i doubt I could even walk that well done !
Haha thanks Darren!
Just rode Hiline. Walked some of the double black sections, but wow, what a trial.
Yeah such a crazy trail haha! Beautiful scenery, technical climbs, gnarly descents. its got it all! Very easy to get in over your head though haha.
@@AprilRideMTB Really appreciate you walking through some of the lines. Especially that crazy rock slide into the right hander (where the small berm is). I feel ready for round 2.
Glad it was helpful!!
it's beautiful there. great video guys.
Thanks so much!
