Manga reader here, fun fact: Byakuya's fight with the 3 Sterns was actually off-screened in the manga. What was shown was merely the aftermath of their fight when the Sterns were already defeated. So it's dope that they actually added a whole new scene compensating for that lack of context with regards to that fight. And as far as adaptation goes, the episode was a solid 10/10. Everything that covers this episode stayed faithful to the source material, and they even added new scenes and dialogues such as the one i mentioned above. The coldness (no pun intended) and brutality in Toshiro's fight definitely translated well into the anime. It was already fire in the manga and they've made it even better with the animation.
Great reaction as always, catch y'all on the next episode. Next week, we are officially entering the BIG BOY fights in this arc. The likes of which will completely overshadow all the previous fights.

In a QnA in his club outside question 321, kubo was asked why Pepe's love ability didn't work on him even though if he was able to easily take control of his Zanpakuto, and kubo answered that it was due to Royal palace Outfit Byakuya was wearing it prevented the ability from reaching Byakuya, meaning NANANA'S ABILITY didn't work for the very same reason as pepe

I think part of the reason why Kubo let Toshiro become zombie is to get that fire Quincy drip lol. It's a shame that the Vizards and Rangiku herself didn't get one.

Yo Yumichika was actually about to use his REAL Shikai on Zombie Toshiro. Normally he calls it Fuji-Kujaku but when he calls it’s real name “Ruri’iro Kujaku” it unleashes it’s real Shikai ability (it’s how he killed Charlotte actually) that’s how you know he was mad

It's because he's not holding back.
That's intentional. It's to convey that Toshiro's feelings and emotions are what limit his effectiveness in most of the series. Without those his raw talent makes him terrifying.
All of his emotions have been stripped away. This, right here, is Toshiro's potential worth of being a prodigy. He became a merciless cold-blooded killer.

As a heads up Charlotte was able to clap Bambi but get absolutely bodied by Hitsugaya because Bambi got waaaaaaaaay weaker as a zombie since Gigi had to kill her - since Hitsugaya is a Soul Reaper, she could take control of him right before he died so his body is still fresh and closer to his original power level. Knowing Mayuri he also definitely did some fuckery with his new Arrancars to make them stronger too, but that's the main reason given. I think that's how Rangiku and Rose/Kensei got packed up too
Also powerscaling in this episode is done just right. Bambietta, even after death is super strong. Arrancars just toyed with all zombie shinigami and even Bambietta. Also, the arrancars were deployed to fight off Rose, Kensei and Matsumoto. But same arrancars did and would get One shot by Toshiro.
Toshiro and Mayuri are different tier of captains and fighters altogether. Only Kenpachi, Byakuya and Kyoraku measure up to them.
And at the end of TYBW we’ll see even more.

You're literally the only other guy i've seen make the connection between pepe and barry white im happy somebody else finally saw it. I was the tiniest bit bummed when they didn't give him a really deep voice. He's like barry white crossed with cupid.
So the reason why charlotte was able to body bambietta is due to the fact that she’s actually already dead, she also gets her power and energy from blood consumption, so if she’s lacking blood, she will be a lot weaker than normal. Also Each sternritter varies in strength, the reason why tosh got bodied by someone like bazz-b has less to do with the fact that toshiro didn’t have bankai, it’s more so that Bazz-b is just that guy. Also, just like how the other commenters have stated, Toshiro in this state has no emotion or fear, so we get to truly see how powerful toshiro is without his mental state holding him back, to be fair though. Any other character that is placed in this circumstance would have the same outcome.

so regarding all the relative strengths and stuff: Zombie Bambi was weaker than normal due to her being Dead and the power not working properly on quincys and she fought the Zombie Arrancar which were assumed to be powered up by Mayuri and are also the direct weakness of Quincies due to them being Hollow, so although it looks like they were able to fight evenly with Sternritters it was really only against the one weakened one, so it's not too weird that Toshiro is still able to body them, especially when he's not holding back due to being zombified

This is the first time I’ve ever thought Toshiro was cool and he was definitely in his shikai a.k.a. the big wave of ice he launched in the beginning. Then, Mayuri put him in an Izanami…crazy. 😂

[Tidbits & Clarifications]
- We've only seen Toshiro fight against Sternritter without his Bankai, and additionally, as you summarized Toshiro in this zombie state has no emotions or feelings holding him back.
- The concept of Zombie Toshiro is very fascinating, Toshiro is not only the youngest captain but he's also the most pure-hearted and here we get to see what what a more ruthless Toshiro looks like. He's concise, intentful, and creative, like how he uses the ice as an extension of his body to make a knee blade or even immediately seal his wounds the moment they occur.
- A ruthless Toshiro is also interesting because despite how he tries to appear as, Toshiro is a strong advocate of Justice, he's not the murdering type which was an ideal we've seen with his battles against Aizen.
- Shaku is obviously a unit of measurement in the soul society
- In the Manga version of these events Byakuya fights against the 3 Sternritter never happened, we only cut to them all being defeated. From what we understand we can expect tons of original and extended fights in the next 2 cours.
- Sidenote, the creator of Bleach Kubo is deeply involved with this Bleach Adaptation and last season or cour he hyped up the Yamamoto episode, a few days ago he hyped up the final two episodes of this cour.

For Bambietta , or what ever her name was, she got turned after she died since Gigi can only control dead Quincy, so she is significantly weaker.
Toshiro is holding back all the time and less experience becuz he is younger than every captain. Bambi got nerfed becuz she's dead and zombie already while 4 arrancars got boosted by mayuri as you know how Mayuri is more of configuration and crazy stuff.
Seeing Robert pop off was wild never got that in the manga but still don't know his shrift name the guns reminds me of Stark, Just another great episode things are gonna get even more wild from here!

This was mentioned long ago by Byakuya that one who already has Bankai can release Shikai without calling it name so Hitsugaya was using Shikai the whole time.
And if you think back, Hitsugaya was struggling cuz he doesn't has full control of his sword when his Bankai's lost and that lead him to lose to Bazz-b (May be he will still lost but He clapped Cangdu when he got his Bankai back btw) 😂😂.

Zombie Bambietta was considerably weaker and slower than when she was alive due to her being dead. Giselle explained that Toshiro maintains his speed and power because he was barely alive when she made him a zombie. It's not that the Arrancar are stronger but that Bambi was weaker also Toshiro is fighting on orders from GiGi so yes he is out for blood and not pulling any punches.

Lol Charlotte was toying with Bambi not even using his sword then gets cut in half by Toshiro no difficulty. There was no amp to the arrancar.
Bambietta wasn't dead before Giselle got to her though. She was literally in the same condition as Toshiro. So that doesn't make sense. Why would Giselle kill her and then make her a zombie to make her weaker but not do the same to Toshiro. Kind of a plot hole.

I liked the fight of Byakuya vs 3 Quincies in the manga only show the aftermath. In the manga the Pepe's vollstandig is disgusting. With the zombies you can to say they are either dead or alive.

Honestly the scaling in this series is really all about match ups and abilities and skills that guy was never strong enough to fight Toshiro the only one out of the 4 that actually fought him was Luppi but when you look at it Luppi was the 6th espada and Halibel was the 3rd. Took damage from Luppi but was completely tied with Halibel due to ability's. But say Barrange was to show up and release a large amount of the Quincy's wouldnt be able to fight him.
