he was *always* capable of this but Kubo rarely gives him easy matchups that allows him to casually flex his skills
@@protectedsouls415 Because as the op said, his emotions in the way, if he had to fight ikkaku and yumichika and charlotte the way he was before he was a zombie, it'd be a 2 episode fight because he'd be hesitant to fight. Despite everything, hitsugaya is still very much in a childlike mentality.

Something underrated I love is that as soon as ikkaku goes down. Yumichika starts to summon his shikai using its proper name instead of the false name. Something he hates because it’s kido based and squad 11 focus on physical attack. He’s stated he would rather die than use it in public but as soon as ikkaku goes down, he throws his pride out and tries to go full power
Facts, and he's using kido openly, some subtle character development
I took it as he learned his lesson before. IIdk if I remember it correctly but I think someone lectured them about being defeated or failing an objective because of pride/holding back. (I think it's back when Ikkaku lost and failed to protect a pillar because he refused to use his Bankai/full power). But still Yumichika held so strong on his pride just to throw it away for his bestie.

Mayuri literally out here cleaning up after everybody's fuck ups. I love Hitsugaya but I'm sorry it is his own fault he got zombied. Mayuri has now made Kensei and Rose actually useful. He made 4 arrancar soldiers to increase the Shinigami's side numbers and power. It seems he will also "rehabilitate" Hitsugaya and Rangiku. I think Yhwach made a mistake by not including Mayuri as a special threat.
@ChrisOfSTARS I mean getting snuck up on after fighting 2 enemies In a row isn't exactly his fault, but the point still stands.
My only complaint is he didn't give hitsugaya a W in his zombie squad. Poor boy needed an outlet after that ass whoopin Mayuri gave him.

[Tidbits & Clarifications]
- The concept of Zombie Toshiro is very fascinating, Toshiro is not only the youngest captain but he's also the most pure-hearted and honorable. Here we get to see what what a more ruthless Toshiro looks like. He's concise, intentful, and creative, like how he uses the ice as an extension of his body to make a knee blade or even immediately seal his wounds the moment they occur.
- Shaku is obviously a unit of measurement in the soul society
- In the Manga version of these events Byakuya fights against the 3 Sternritter never happened, we only cut to them all being defeated. From what we understand we can expect tons of original and extended fights in the next 2 course.
- Robert [Quincy with a gun] Seems very on edge, he's yelling and sweating and with the way he's speaking it makes it seem as if you have to do enough to be acknowledged by Yhwach otherwise something bad may happen.
- We learned in Kubo's fanclub Klub Outside that Byakuya wasn't affected by the love ability because he's wearing clothing from the Zero Squad which has special protective capabilities.
- Sidenote, the creator of Bleach Kubo is deeply involved with this Bleach Adaptation and last season or cour he hyped up the Yamamoto episode, a few days ago he hyped up the final two episodes of this cour.

When Toshiro is on autopilot, he is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Man gets in his own way far too much.

He created the drug way back during the Arrancar arc or some time before that but after he lost to Uryu...
As he said, it's a drug that enhances pretty much everything and can make anybody a "superhuman" beyond human understanding, but it twists the idea of "superhuman" as a side effect which is why "it's not on the market"... basically, it's a failed product that Mayuri wouldn't wish on anybody which is why he only uses it on his enemies lol. It gives you a superpower that has an ironic side effect, making it detrimental instead of helpful.
He gave Szaelloporro the superhuman ability of a speedster, to see time in slow motion but the side effect is that in order to have his body adapt to the slowed speed, his brain would also slow him down as well... so his perception of a single moment could take a hundred years to process.(I personally believe this inspired Gojo's domain lol).
The new superpower he gave Toshiro and the others was the ability to basically "reload" a checkpoint 😂 a time-loop of sorts... but again, due to the failed nature of the drug there's a side effect where instead of the power allowing the user to cheat death until they eventually defeat their foe, it's reversed to where if THEY kill their opponent, they time loop again and again, making it so they can't kill their opponent instead.
And every OP superpower has a limit right? That's a trope in anime, Luffy needs 10 mins to recharge, Asta is on a timer, Naruto's baryon mode etc...
So this superpower has a 10 loops limit, after which they get paralysed for 30 seconds... of course, if it's your own power you would be careful to not loop more than 9 times if necessary, but even the slightest probability of the victim figuring out the rules made Mayuri set another rule where they forget how many times they've looped after a few resets, Toshiro had no chance with all this.
Mayuri is REALLY twisted in every sense of the word.
Instead of creating an ability without any drawbacks for himself, he'd rather create a faulty drug to test on his opponents 😂
People always forget that Ashisogijizo is a paralazing zanpakuto, get cut by it and you get paralized not killed; everyone i've seen freaked out when Mayuri stabbed him lol.
Sure is a lot of Kurotsuchi in this arc. Can't say he was high on my list of characters I wanted to see more of tbh.

Mayuri is the real mvp of that episode.
I don't know if the episode had an official answer to when Mayuri gave Toshiro the drug, but my guess is that it had something to do with the cloth he used to deflect Toshiro's knee or Ashisogijizo itself. The cloth was in direct contact with Toshiro and blew up his knee, which would probably allow the drug to enter through the skin/blood somehow. Or Mayuri was poisoning him with Ashisogijizo, as that does emit poison and Mayuri is adding abilities to it for every situation.
It was when he slashed Charlotte, he mentioned he pumped the blood full of drugs of all the arrancars, so when that splashed on toshiro, he was administered the drug.

The hybrid and the Quincy stared at each other as the storm raged around them. It was taking all of Ichigo's spiritual pressure and Candice's Blut Vene to keep themselves from getting blown off the roof.

"I said I'm looking for Amanda Huggenkiss. I don't know why someone like that would be doing hanging around in our barracks but-"
Kenpachi was interrupted by the uproar of laughter coming from his subordinates. A few of them even fell to the floor while holding their side. Of course, being immune to most emotions unless battle was involved, this only served to annoy the 11th Kenpachi. "What the hell are you laughing at? I said I want Amanda Huggenkiss! Where can I find Amanda Huggenkiss! Oh, why can't I find Amanda Huggenkiss?"
"I-I don't (wheeze) know!" Yumichika replied between laughs. "Maybe your standards are (wheeze) too high!" The already booming laughter became deafening as Kenpachi finally began to piece together what was going on.
"Hold on a second..Amanda Huggenkiss...Hey! Is this a prank? Who the hell is this?" He roared at the Hell Butterfly which was already on its way out the window. "Hey! Get back here!"
