Yes Indeed. The MV has inspired you. So many possibilities with it. Sampling into it, just adds to the pool. Making patches is an endless wormhole. Keep em coming. Fueling my next session for sure.
Netm8kr thanks for the feedback! Highly appreciated! The whole sampling-function is still not investigated. Just touched the surface of it. This machines offers soooo much! We keep in touch!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I had no clue!! How old is this v3.5 Update, ..recent? So glad I held onto my MV, only had it about 8 years and probably paid too much for it then, ($600 used) but it did come with the VGA and mouse kit/ RAM upgrade installed, mint condition. I don’t even want an ASR-10 anymore after seeing this. Thanks, again. Subbed.
SP-404 HypNodiQ SoundJunkie Hi! 600$ is a very good price. Still it is around that amount. And great that you still have this beautiful unit. The update was released in 2007 already. The latest is 3.54. Thanks for subbing and for your great comment. Grtzzz, Roger
Wow! Thanks Roger! I’m just lazy and use straight 808 samples with my MV so haven’t explored this at all , really enjoying the mv videos! (Have you looked upgrading to ssd & quiet fan for your MV? I’m looking into this at the moment.)
Pizza Gogo Hi! Cool to meet you also on these videos 😁. Yes, I understand that using the 808 samples is much easier. I was just thinking like ‘hey...could it possible to create your own drum sounds with the modeling bass?’ Honestly I was surprised by the creation of the sounds. Regarding modding the MV I decided only to put a bigger ide hdd in it. But I saw a vid that a ssd brings hardly any speed difference. Only the sound of the hdd. Perhaps the fan is also something. I sell them myself for computers so perhaps I will install one someday. I spent so much time in searching solutions for the SP-808 that I now want to invest time in exploring this new piece of equipment. We stay in touch! Grtzzz, Roger
Congrats!!! Looks like a very complete machine. Without being Komplete or Maschine. I'm wondering about buying a Electribe 2 Sampler and this machine makes me wonder...
deckobreaks hi! Thanks for your comment! Appreciated! Yes, the MV is a complete productions studio with so many features. Only drawback is its processing time. When connecting with a computer you notice that this unit is from 2000. It takes a little time to drag and drop samples. But hey...what’s a few seconds on a life time. I really love this huge unit because it can do so much. So many machines in one and not attached to your computer. Real hardware is just amazing for me. I get more into the music with hardware. Good luck on your decision. Grtzzz, Roger
Hey my friend, i hope you're going well...your vids are like gold, i knew the mv 8800 would be a difficult toy, and even thi, it's more than i thought, so your vids, the manual, and read... But i wanted to ask you, if you know where i could find the dvd video tutorial, the one that there's a guy talking and teaching about the machine, this company had made video tutorials for a bunch of roland products of that time, the jp 8000/8080, the sp-808 and more..i'm sure you know about which one i'm talking... My love from Greece, Roger it's a kinda weird period of time, staying home all the time, at least we can play our lovely toys...Hey man...
Patrick Martin Hi my friend! The original dvd is for sale for around 25€ through this website. proaudioexp.com/products/roland-mv-8000-8800-dvd-tutorial?_pos=1&_sid=f4fed61aa&_ss=r David Wills is the guy. The complete video is not available online though. The Mv is indeed a great and also complex machine. Use this time to learn the basic stuff. Stay safe and an hug for your family!
tedo vision thank you! 🙏🏽 I’m planning to create an upload on my website. I have to start all over as I sold my MV8K and didn’t make any copies. But it’s all in the head 😁😁✌🏽
Hey my friend..i wanted to talk to you before, but i'm in the beginning of my 8th, (i think..:) movement of my gear, and i've got a lot of work to do...i just wanna mention, that, as i figured out, the MV can sample let's say, a D-50, or a JP-8080 and spread the pitch of the resampled sound, allover 4-5 octaves..while the sampler on the SP-808 it's a phrase sampler, so it can't do this, but it can sample whole music phrases of synths, and apply effects on these samples.. I hope i figured it out correctly. And the SP, except of it's amazing step modulator, can act as a 4-track recorder, can't it..?? (even on zip). And the last thing i'd like to know, the virtual analog synth on both machines, is exactly the same..?? I mean, it has 2 osc' s, (and a sub osc or not..??), and 2 vcf's in series, (or 1..??). It has ring modulation, noise input, ext input, sync of the osc's but, (if i got it right..), it just hasn't cross modulation between the 2 osc's... These are a lot of answers, so forgive me for the amount of info i asked, but i'd like to get an answer, and i think you won't forget me Roger, (you're too kind to do that..;)), but take your time, i'm not in a hurry... Answer me, just only when you have the time..thanx in advance my friend, and i'll mail you, to talk to you about some things....Meanwhile, my truly love to your kids and family, the most important..!!!! PS. I forget to tell you, cause your advice is really very inmportant to me, a Motu midi express xt, but not usb, it's paraller port, would it be a good buy on 70E..(i guess not, but i want your advice too..) Thanx again, Roger..!!
Hola amigo! Moving gear is a standard procedure. I'm familiar with that concept too hahahaha. Yes, you got it right. The MV does allow to spread samples and the SP-808 allows to sample whole phrases and applying effects to them. Also you're right regarding the 4-track recorder. About the synth you've figured it out also. No sub OSC and only 1 VCF for the two OSC's and no cross. The synths are equal to each other. Roland did just do a copy-paste from 808 to 8000. Motu MIDI express xt is interesting if you have a PC with a parallel port to do some programming. 70€ is too much. Around 50€ would be more logical. Can it work standalone? Just a quick answer :D Good luck on the movement and send my love to your family too!
Geia sou alani mou, i don't have a pc, i just have a lenovo laptop, with an intel5, a little old, and 6gb ram, and a hard disk very small (just 320 gb).. As for the patchbay now, i think it works in standalone mode, as i've seen at it's manual, and have 8 presets configurations, and 8 user which can be made, while it's plugged on a computer.. But IDK if i should grab it, cause as it seems with 70 and maybe less, you can take the usb edition, which while for now it's not interesting to me, but who knows about tomorrow ..?? Maybe i will need it..anyway amigo, gracias..!!!
