    Long time no see!
    In this video I use the amazing Elastic Audio function of the V-Synth to play with that old school Shakuhachi sample, which was used by Enigma, Peter Gabriel and Tangerine Dream.
    Just is just an uncut, raw recorded and unedited video just to show you how easy this is.
    I show the following topics:
    - 00:00 Intro
    - 01:00 the Shakuhachi Sample
    - 01:23 Which PCMCIA-Card do I use?
    - 02:40 Starting with an empty V-Synth XT
    - 03:09 Connecting through USB
    - 03:40 Loading sample on to the PCMCIA-Card (with CF-Card)
    - 04:09 Loading sample into the internal memory
    - 05:01 Using sample in OSC1 as a regular sample (no elastic audio)
    - 06:48 Editing the sample
    - 07:42 Encoding the sample
    - 09:35 Adjust TVA
    - 11:39 Changing to Mono + Adding Portamento
    - 12:50 Adding FX
    - 16:50 Ending
    Although I'm very quiet on Social Media, you can still find me there!

    Cool demonstration. It's kind of odd that a synth from 20 years ago seems to have more advanced sample options than what Roland sells today. This 'elastic audio' feature look very useful!

    LOL I say the same thing.
    Elastic Audio is next level!
    I agree & I think the EMU Command Stations (I have the Proteus-2500 w 4 ROM cards) has some thing like it, because the way it can play the samples like a kick or snare at a low/high pitches but i won't sound distorted like when doing that on most samplers. Opens up all kinds of sonic worlds!

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  Před rokem

      That's a difficult question for my as I don't know the HD-DLX.
      Main question is: what do you want to achieve? What are you looking for? What sound/workflow.
      I love the XT and the V-Synth OG. I didn't love the GT because it was even more complex and just too much.

      @@theMIDImaniac I'm more leaning towards my live DJ sets/mix projects,and creating sounds,not just ripping records to make musical collages.I kinda balked on the VSynth because when i got the money,I invested in other things. The last thing I got was the Polyend Tracker..

    Damn that Vsynth OS looks horrendous lol

    • @KeirMurphy
      @KeirMurphy Před rokem

      It is super easy to do basic sounds with. But it looks daunting as there's so so many options. I've had it for a few years and beyond classic synth sounds, I don't yet have the muscle memory to know "if I do X, it'll create sound Y" for unique capabilities the engine offers.

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  Před rokem +1

      Welcome to the era of Roland when they started to release units with Operating Systems like this one. The MV-8000/8800, the VS-2400/2480 and the V-Synths are from that time and you notice it :D :D
      But you get used to it. In fact, modern machines or software do use these functions now too. That's why I understood the Maschine pretty fast.

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  Před rokem

      I understand what you're mentioning.
      It takes some serious time before you understand the functions.
      In fact, the V-Synth combines old school analog synth techniques with new school sampling techniques and then this huge load of effects/COSM with numerous options.
      In this video I only touch the surface of the units.

    • @JeffPalmer83
      @JeffPalmer83 Před rokem

      @Devon Detroit It certainly looks dated due to the lower resolution and iconography; however, it is surprisingly logical and easy to work with after a bit.
