Richard Barbieri is a great synthesist. I mean just listen to the weird sounds in Ghosts by Japan. Or the gorgeous melodic sounds in the TIm Bowness/Richard Barbieri album Flame.
Or the synthesiser work in the Porcupine Tree album the Sky Moves Sideways.
