back in the the 80's and the 90's movie themed action figures were all the rage, It didn't matter whether it was a family film or if it was r-rated, if a toy company could make an action figure line out of the licence they would, and the undisputed kings of movie themed action figures were an American toy company called Kenner.
In this mini documentary, we take a look at What many people consider the most scandalous movie themed toy line of all time, Kenner's 1991 Robin hood Prince of Thieves action figures.

I owned every single one of those toys you showed! I was pretty mad at 10 years old when I realized that my Sherwood Forest looked exactly like an Ewok village I saw at a garage sale! I loved Robin Hood so much. That movie actually shaped me into somebody that has always loved history. Funny because there’s nothing historical about it, but it was absolutely awesome and I played with those toys forever. Recently I purchased many of those toys brand new in the packages again just to relive my childhood memories. Great video!

This is a perfect toy review video. I love the Robin Hood toys, I got a Will Scarlet from Debenhams in a discount bin when I was 12. It was amazing. This video speaks to the soul of me as a child. Really well done.

Fascinating. I was obsessed with this film as a kid but only had the Will Scarlet figure. I was desperate for more but never found them anywhere, must have picked up that one figure when the last few were on sale or something. Starting laughing as soon as you took Friar Tucks robe off as I had that Star Wars figure!

I know this vid is nearly a year old now but WOW - super fun look at a great toy line. My take: it's the soft goods that made this line iconic. Seriously! the soft goods are truly great.

I had the Azeem figure as a kid, awesome toy. I guess even if the actual fabric was there to disguise the re-use of parts, its what made these toys unique.

I still have some of these figures and I remember when we got them me and my bro were, isn't that a Gamorrean Guard body? Isn't the Sheriff just Chainsaw from Robocop and The Ultra Police? Oh well!
Just having a rewatch of this video and wanted to say that I'm 100% down for that proposed Die Hard line!! Also, the figure from the Robin Hood line that ended up in my toy box the longest was Will Scarlet. I used to put a cape on him and call him Bobin and teamed him up with a Kenner Batman that I had cut the ears off of and made into "Seal-Man". Good times.

This is exactly how I felt about Food Fighters. No one knew what they were, even more so because it wasn't even attached another form of media, but I absolutely loved the toy line. They were some of my favorite toys as a child and it almost bums me out that they've become these highly sought after collectibles today.
Ahh I really wanna complete my food fighters they need an episode, but those guns man, so hard to find!

We had the Costner heads in the U.S. in fact, all I could find in stores were the Costner heads. Adult collectors knew these were repurposed from other Kenner figures, and that made them kind of cool, since the toys they were repurposed from were the toys we had grown up with (at least for collectors in my age group). I think this movie must be more popular on this side of the Atlantic. Like The Princess Bride, it has a nostalgic fan following and is considered a minor classic for a certain generation. Yeah, it’s kind of doofy, but Gen Xers and older Millennials like it. I don’t find the toys controversial, though. To me, a controversial toy would be Matchbox Freddy, ‘79 Kenner Alien, pregnant Barbie, Mattel missile-shooting Battlestar Galactica toys.
Hell yeah love those toys, i did a whole episode on the awesome max-FX and matchbox Freddy toys and board games on here, check it out! 🏹💥

Batman the animated series figures didn't come out until 1993 so after this toyline I don't think. So poison ivy and two face both use stuff from this toy line. Kenner likes to re use a lot of stuff for there toy lines.
