- Today we've combined AMD's new Radeon RX 550 with Intel's Pentium G4560 to see what sort of performance you can expect from a budget gaming PC that could be built on a pretty tight budget.
I built this entire system for less than £300, and will be showcasing it very soon in a follow up build video.
Test Specs:
AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB GDDR5
8GB DDR3
Intel Pentium G4560
Windows 10
Games Tested:
Far Cry Primal
Fallout 4
Overwatch
CS:GO
Thanks for watching :) - Věda a technologie
RX 550 should be $60 at the most.
The real pizza boy eh wait a few weeks they should drop the price
70 at a push if some 3rd party does some noticable improvements
The real pizza boy second hand do
Yeah because the 2gb Gigabyte RX 460 is $73
No it shouldn't. Unless you're fucking poor, then yeah, sure, why not.
IMO the 550 is overpriced.
Cube Matz should be $40
Dan C I think that's a bit too low, but it should be around 45-60 bucks
give it two months and it will be lower
Yeah give it some time. it just launched. the prices during the initial launch days of a gpu are considerably expensive.
I wouldn't even consider buying this one unless it was priced around the $40-$50 mark
Anything over $10 for a full system is a scam
It's still really nice to come home from school and see that you have uploaded a new video. Keep up the great work!
The RX550 would be good if it was priced lower at £50, give prices time to stabilise and it may become a good card, but right now, buy higher or buy used.
I come from the future and the market is more fucked than ever.
@@jf9946 i come from 7 months later, and its even more fcked
@@zcupofwater I come from 3 months later
It's still fucked
@@komradkat1073 i’m still here, and yes, you’re right, it’s very fucked still. People predicted lower prices by Nov/Dec 2021, but, you know, it’s still fucked
@@zcupofwater lmao, i wish i can hide my tears rn. the prices are soo ridiculous im going to have a mental breakdown, y'know before the whole shortage i got a build planned out. Ryzen 3 1200 with GTX 750 Ti seems like that build is never gonna happen.
I feel like the Rx 550 isn't a gaming GPU, it's a media center GPU for 4k systems.
Pretty much what AMD marketed this card towards
Yup. Not overpriced, it's just the best for 4k playback.
Tuchulu marketed to offer better performance than an igpu so for media centers and exports titles
Tuchulu u could get 4k playback from an integrated gpu
You could get 4k playback and be able to game if wanted for $20 more
Yes very interesting.
On the subject of Lego Indiana Jones:
The game runs through the original three Indy films and while it follows the stories well, there are some segments that have been added or tweaked to better fit the title. For example, after rescuing Marion from her bar towards the start of Raiders of the Lost Ark, you'll run through a section where you work along with a snowy cliffside, take on some Germans and eventually head out of the area. Similarly, the temple at the end of the Last Crusade has much more than three tests to pass, with plenty of mostly non-deadly puzzles to complete before you get to the Grail. This all works well in terms of how the game plays as well as its pacing, and most all of the segments are fun, though there's certainly a bigger separation between game and films than what we saw with the LEGO Star Wars titles.
Though there's obviously a lack of Force powers this time around, Traveller's Tales has once again done a good job of providing distinct character groups. Indiana Jones' whip always comes in handy, and he's the only one that can open a number of the game's sections thanks to its numerous uses. Thugees, the bad guys from the Temple of Doom, are able to "talk" to statues of Kali and open up secret areas, while people with manuscripts, like Henry Jones Sr. or Elsa, are able to decipher hieroglyphs and open other secrets. Some characters come with shovels or wrenches, which allow them to dig up objects or fix broken items.

Fights with armed enemies can be a nuisance when all you have is your fists.
The cool thing here is that aside from Indy's whip (or a tiny character's small stature), you're able to find all of these items in-game to help you solve puzzles. So even if you only have Junior and Willie at your disposal, you'll be able to dig up treasure if you can find a shovel nearby, or you can work with hieroglyphs if you can find a book. There are plenty of areas that won't have these things lying around, requiring that you come back in Free Play to unlock more goodies, but the puzzle variety is able to be mixed much better throughout the game thanks to the ability to pick up and use items.
Adding a bit more character to the main cast are phobias that a couple of them have. Indy, for instance, is afraid of snakes, while Willie is scared of spiders. Both will cower in fear when near them, so you'll need to use another character to either clear the way or go ahead and solve a puzzle without them. It's a small touch, but one that works well to bring about some of the characters' traits from the films to the game. Since the characters don't really talk though, Short Round lacks his funny quips and just winds up being short. Oh well.
A somewhat big difference between the Star Wars and Indiana Jones LEGO games is the focus of combat. While most characters either had a lightsaber or blaster in the Star Wars titles, the combat in LEGO Indy is largely hand-to-hand. You can pick up guns that enemies drop, but they're only good for a few shots before they expire. While this is mostly fine, it can be a little frustrating when there are a group of armed enemies on-screen and you have no choice but to repeatedly jump while running at them in order to try and dodge their shots. You will inevitably get hit and probably even die a few times in the scuffle. While you have infinite lives, of course, it's still frustrating to know that you don't really have a good chance of coming out unscathed in these encounters and simply have to bear down and charge until everyone is dead.
Oscar Phillips he copied and pasted a lot
He stole it from IGN
DUDE!! I was searching this exact video yesterday.. You totally read my mind. Thanks again dude :P
These videos are fantastic! The different hardware combinations you cover are really interesting. I always learn something. Thanks.
Is it bad optimization or a CPU-bottleneck that causes the gpu usage to be at 42% (3:30)?
CSGO has always been a cpu-bound game. That's why the CPU usage was pegged at 100%.
i have 55% avg on CS GO with FX6300 and GTX660
+TheRems710 I think that's because CS:GO only uses a couple threads, it won't use all 6 (like the old Skyrim 32 bit version, only uses 4 threads). Some games only use 1. With my new 8 core 16 thread CPU, it takes a LOT to get that thing past 30%, and few games can use all the threads. Most can use 8 though, if they are modern (old ones like CS:GO won't, back then it was single and duel cores, no need to optimize for something that didn't exist).
i was thinking the same because GPU usage is low too
Jake Garrett CS:GO scales well across multiple cores, but not that well across multiple threads
That's my dream PC But You could Try The RX560! BTW Awesome Video keep going
May I ask why THIS is your dream pc?
This is a no 'xD' zone. Cause not everyone can manage to afford high end rigs?
The Mil-Spec Guy no but we're talking about a DREAM pc here
The Gold Man lol u serious man? Dream pc??? my dream pc is a sli 1080ti, water cooled i7 7700k, 64gb of ram and 2 1tb ssd and 4 tb hdd. And now i got an 970 with 16 gb of ram and a i7 6700k.
This is a no 'xD' zone. Lol so let him have his own dream dafaq you have your dream of owning GTX 2080s in the future but i appreciate guys like these who wants it simple...
doin the good work my man! I love that you continue to look at the lower end of things.
Loving the videos keep them coming
randomgaminginhd you should do a vid about the i7 3820
I recently got an i7-3770s, and I'm loving it :)
i have a i7 3820 with a gtx 1070
Well, i dont! :| :D
in Australia the rx 460 is cheaper then the 550 lol
Ikr
they have he same price in roumania dude!
Your videos really help to understand and narrow down the cpu and video card that one actually needs, and for a smashing price.
oh crap a new video, love you man
get a RX460 for £40 with rebate or 60 from amazon
GTX Jake damn
Lucku dufe
and then unlock it
GT210 is overpriced
YFKRZ RX 550 is the new GT 210
BluTech no
BluTech If you want a steady 3 fps and a stunning minimum details and crazy resolution of 800x600 than YES.
BTW I know its a joke
love this channel!!! great vid as always
Dude, your such a Pioneer. Love your content!
i have a 1050 ti, very happy with it :D that requires 400w? wtf
BestOfEverything I have the g4560 and EVGA 1050 Ti SSC, next year I'm going to upgrade to an i5 6500 next year though
BestOfEverything i also got the 1050 ti. nice card.
BestOfEverything noticed that with 400w too. it's probably the recommended psu wattage.
edit: yes, it's a 50w graphics card
lio INDEX I own a 1050ti paired with a i3 6100 and I can tell you it is performing great at 1080p with any game I throw at it
I actually use my 1050ti for 2560x1080 resolution and it's great. I play bf1 with every setting cranked up to ultra and it averages 45-50 fps. for the money I paid its good little workhorse card.
Overpriced af
Afrousel but who will buy it anyway for gaming, i will buy 570 or 560
Gonna buy 570 for sure here
For 120€ (In my country at least) You can get the Sapphire Pulse which is TONS better than AMD's model.
when ever a video from you come out I like it ASAP I visit it and actually watch it when I get some free time
that shows you are like Boss to us Budget gamers
now I realised why is 550 so hated by my customers who wanna build a PC
wow i was just wondering why you didnt make a video about rx550 awesome mate :D
I'd rather go with an Athlon with the 550 because it can handle it fine and when you counter in price of the CPU, Motherboard and RAM altogether the Athlon is about £70 cheaper.
PixelVortex nah, g4560 > any athlon cpu
The real pizza boy G4560 IMO should be with an RX 460 minimum. the 550 is too underpowered, and would do better with a celeron or athlon.
The real pizza boy but you don't need an pentium for this card
Nah, Ryzen 3 > Pentium > Athlon
AstroTech Studios Ryzen 3 + RX 580
G4560 + RX 570
Athlon X4 860K + RX 560
tbh the 550 is a waste if you look at the performance game for a couple bucks more
I agree rx460 is better
gtx 1050 is bettererererererererererererer
1050
+Kalop Spring well..yeah..but price for performance AMD will allways win. i cant imagine gtx 1050 for 80 dollars
price per performance? The GTX 1050 and RX460 are both ~$100?
for me: 550=$150 460=$200 1050=$265
Woah, been wondering how this card performs since there is not alot of videos about it on youtube :D great video
Cool video as always.
noone has noticed how badly was the cpu bottlenecking on cs go? didn't you see how CPU was always on 100% while the gpu on low 50s and 40s?
Yeah noticed that too
CS:GO is CPU intensive.
Cold Fire still with this processor you get about 120-150 fps minimal
pretty weird because i get around 200 fps on the same cpu in csgo with the settings on 1080p high/ultra.
Thijmen yeah its a crap gpu
best budget chanel
Your content is awesome bro
Nice vid man was wondering if that cpu was worth it, cool stuff!
i was just watching Jays2Cents about the 580 Lmao
but what ever he's rich anyway
pin this comment btw :^)
He also gets hardware sent to him for free.
Same.
Tony ManFlash oh come on..
you can do the same thing, I mean He wasn't always like that he built his way up there he achieved what he has now. think before you say all these things plz
RX 580 is nothing for him. He could get 2 1080 Ti or heck even 2 Titan Xp lul.
Just saying, many competitive Overwatch players play on the lowest settings at 75% render scale for the most FPS, similar to what CSGO players do. Just something to keep in mind for future videos :)
The Slightly Salty Gamer OK I'll remember that :)
comp players don't buy a 550
Your profile picture... Inanimate Insanity?
Competitive players will use a way better card, and won't need to back down render scale. Also, unless you can drive the 144+ fps with capable hardware, it's all mostly placebo.
I mean he's not wrong that actually pro esports players do sometimes lower their resolution scaling, but he would be very wrong to assume anyone serious about playing OW with a high level of skill would use a RX550. You want something like a 1050Ti that will hold 144FPS.
This channel and the Tech Deals is the best no bullshit tech channels.👏👏
Great video as always, it's great to see someone representing the lower end of the hardware spectrum when all the bigger tech channels seem to be stuck in a circle jerk of the super high end. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing how this performs against the 750ti. I know it's older now but it's cheaper than ever and could probably keep up.
omfg first :D
fast foka ;)
GTX 550 ti > RX 550
Domagoj Vučemil rx460 > 550ti
idk why...but your videos really really Attract me very much...i find it really helpful as a consumer value...with respect to other youtubers they r all good but i found u more consumer thinker than them...so thumbs up to u bruh...keep pleasing us with your great efforts...
Glad I found a channel for the every man! Could you use more game in your testing? Like ksp and world of tanks?
good information man good video
as usual this is a good video
but can you also try to benchmark unturned with the future test?
Love your budget build videos. Its like what Tech City does but even more extreme haha. Just did a budget build video myself, a 6-core Xeon build that i overclocked (matching the performance of a stock ryzen 1600x), paired with a pretty good GPU. Could be something interesting for you, especially for content creation but still solid performer for gaming. What do you use as your main rig?
@randomgaminginhd hey you made a video about half year ago, about the i5 650... i know its dual core, hyperthreaded so is it considered a quadcore, and do games not lock you out becuz it doesnt recognize the quadcore like far cry 4 did in the past? got a prebuilt with a i5 650, 4gb ddr3 1666mgh for only 65 quid and pairing it with a 12 quad gtx 470 should hopefully do the job?
You are literally my favourite content creator, as i am very poor, your content helps me game more. Thanks alot
Great video!Really helped me decide whether to get an rx460 or a gtx1050i.
Where do you get the games you test from? i've noticed that you don't have a lot of the games on steam
What's is the motherboard you used? I'm trying to look for a good budget build kinda thing.
Hey bro, what do you think about the g4560 and rx 470 combo? Is worth buying? And what i5 can make a good duo with the 470 instead if you think to change de g4560 in a time after the buying? Thanks and good videos!
hi I've got an i7 860 paired with a gtx 750ti reference version but looking to play on either high or ultra what would you suggest, love you channel
Hi RandomGaminginHD! Just a question, are you using a non-L DDR3 with the Pentium G4560? Because around the internet they're saying that non-L DDR3 isn't good with G4560 because of the voltage blah blah.. Would like to hear your experience on this. Planning on buying this CPU but I only have DDR3 (non-L) RAM slot. Just subbed to your channel BTW
I love your videos m8 but holy shit bro what is up with your gameplay, do you use a controller or a ball mouse for everything ?
What program do you use for the benchmark stats on the top right corners of the screen?
I was wondering what the RX 550 compares to in performance in relation to previous generations of graphics cards? Would there be a nice bump in frames per second from say a GT 730 2 gig ddr5 card or Amd RX 250? Thanks for the video RamdomGamingHD :)
Can u also test how editing video recording and streaming works on such budget cpu+gpu
special vid, great
Is $100 for the Philips 24G5DJEB a good deal your opinions?
hi friend do you know when the rx 560 is gonna release and if its worth it for a budget upgrade? thx. like
what older AMD processor would you pair with this ? Am2+ overclockable and ddr2
I love your vids but im just asking can you pop in the csgo results for 1024x768 up top beside the 1080p results, that would be wonderful. (only res i play on)
+RandomGaminginHD i have an intresting idea for a video that would help some people out, what is the Cheapest *Price and total Power draw* PC that could be built today that you can still do light gaming on?
Question: Do you or will you consider in the future to switch to the "new" performance benchmarking method which exchanges the low fps with a percentage of frametimes (e.g. 1% of Frametime 18fps)?? It is more complicated for the viewer but can give a more realistic and detailed look into the performance. It is a bit difficult to explain, at least for me. It is not really necessary for your channel tho since your commentary of the performance is very good. Just curious 😊
Do you think the Rx 560 will be the same power as a 1050ti/960?that would be amazing but I can't really tell how strong it will be from the specs
RGinHD can i ask something??
Does AMD FX 6300 Still good enough? or does it pretty much outdated by now??
If it still capable in 2017, how will it performs in modern gaming when pair it with decent gpu? (like GTX 1060 or RX 470)
Isn't this cards' intended use is to replace the iGPU in certain work applications (and gaming somewhat) aswell as output 4k via HDMI?
What do you use to record these videos
Im planning to buy a g4560 what mother should I get. I know my Colorful C.A68HM-K Plus V18 Socket FM2 DDR3 Motherboard would not be compatible. Im looking at H110 but some say, some motherboards have outdated bios i think? and a B250 is less hassle.
Would you say the 550 performs about the same as the 750 Ti?
Also, Newegg UK is kind of a waste of time as you still have to pay a lot of shipping.
Suggestion for future videos: Trying to use DXCPL to emulate dx11 with older cards
Looking at the hardware usage on lighter titles this is a perfect match though. In Overwatch they are both at 100%, CS is a special one since it's very CPU heavy when framecount is high, and that can be seen since the GPU is only at 45% usage while matching CPU. As always, nice video!
How good is i5-7400? I'm planning to buy that to pair with Geforce GTX 1050 Ti.
is q6600 a better option over g4560 because price is only $15 for q6600 and it has 4 cores, but g4560 supports hyper threading right?
Was there no OC headroom I see some people reporting 29W from the PCIE slot so I think you would have room in that respect
What do you use for the fps overlay?
little question. im saving money for a graphics card. should i go for the 570, or 580? is the price/performance ratio better than the 470/480? in that generation getting a 580 was a bad p/f move.
Just the video i wanted to see
do you know any graphics cards that I could use with a Intel core i5 660
i was wondering about this card!
RX 550 is 400W card? Good job, man :-D
How did you put DDR3 memory into a 1151 motherboard?
You should see if you can find an older Radeon HD6950. That card was so cool some versions had a 2nd bios that was flashed with the bios from the HD6970 and it performed the same because the 2nd bios unlocked cores that were already on the card. The only difference between the two was the bios, everything else was the same and at a cheaper cost.
Are you testing the game with mblur off, ambocc off , dof off, aa/af 2x or off
how would a Pentium pair with a 460/560?? could I get decent 1080p performance? I am looking to build a little portable PC. not going to be my main rig of course
Great video bro :)
This is a great card for people that play e-sports games like CS:GO and LoL, while having a huge upgrade from integrated graphics.
Personally it's not worth the current price. Just go for the RX 460/560 and you'll have a much better experience.
could you do a comparison of core2quad series vs pentium 3xxx and 4xxx? the core 2 series are littering all over the market and I found mine (xeon e5472, or close to c2q 9xxx) bottlenecking my rx 460
Which GPU handles 1080p on same settings?
I just got a GTX 1050Ti for 1080p since I want my full system load to be around the 160 watt range and it will when my i3 4130 gets here. Will be using this with a 525gb Crucial SSD and Noctua Low profile CPU cooler in a custom case I made. I got the GTX 1050Ti thanks to your video review of it - RandomGamingHD and a few other benchmarks but primarily your video since they were a similar to the games I play. I started Far Cry primal but got distracted with Far Cry 4 since I never played it yet. Those were good games.
Can you do a video with a G4560 with a used 7970 :)?
good video. might do this build for my 4yo daughter
Hello, Can u test dota 2 in future videos?
Thanks
could u do a review with the g4560 and rx 570 pls?
What if you needed a cheap card for gpu acceleration in video editing?
My ancient phenom II processor+ gtx 260 gives 200+ fps at csgo (1080p-min settings). Whats the point of this build?
A x5460 and gtx 750 1gb ddr5, Is that build like the build on this video?
The one tech review channel that reviews stuff that you can actually afford, praise.
what power supply did you use?
Great to see you take a look at the 550, everyone seems to focus on the 580. I do feel the card is overpriced, but it's also good to have a cheaper GPU with the latest video / media features. I heard Nvidia will do a cheap GPU as well, so prices could come down soon?
EDIT: I'm keen to see what the 560 can do.
How does the g4560 perform compared to, say, i5-2400?
Full guide quickly! I am planning on a G4560 build for family use. Without GPU at first, needs to know how to save some money.
You can use the integrated GPU for watching videos and browsing the web. I wouldn't recommend anything below a RX460 for gaming. The 560 is looking good and costs the same, so it's the best price for the performance.
Well, i said for family use, watching 1080p vids and web browsing, maybe also really light gaming.
my laptop intel hd 4000 on cs go on 1080p and lowest settings can handle cs go pretty much the same, idk if its woth to buy gpu for cs go
