Omg this guy must be the benchmark king
LOL :P
Tech City & HUB
Could you guys explain, why some game engine requires max single core performance while some uses balanced methods to distribute different in-game tasks over cores ?
its how its programmed. The game engine handles how things are done
Bryans Jelly
Dean Calaway
I appreciate what you told. A common PC user will know this well by just starting task manager, afterburner & resource monitor.
But I think it's a matter needed to dig deeper under the skin.
Great job, this must have taken a while. ;)
Thanks mate, ahh yeah the better part of a week was spent testing. Luckily I find the discovery very interesting :D
Yeah for sure, and you've given me plenty to think about with the Ryzen reviews. ;)
+AdoredTV - Excellent! Hopefully I can squeeze some more testing in before then :D
It's great to see some real CPU intensive games in there, I was watching it thinking "I hope maybe Civ 6 is in there", but you stuck in Total War as well. Quite an eye-opener to see the difference the CPU can make in some titles and I basically agree with your conclusion. This is the only KL CPU worth buying. :P
+Maximus IX - Not sure that I would trust everything is as it should be all the time.
I really love your benchmark videos. Out of all the techtubers I'm subbed too, you guys make the most simple, straightforward and easy to follow benchmarks! Please test the AMD 400 series cards with the g4560!
Will do thanks mate!
Intel probably had a bunch of i3 processors left over from Skylake that didn't sell, so they rebranded them as the new Pentium G for $70 to get rid of them.
MakoRuu that's pretty smart
MakoRuu But that wouldn't make sense as the G4560 uses Kaby Lake architecture, not Skylake. There is a chance though that Pentiums/i3s are just defected i5s and i7s with the clocks lowered and the bad cores disabled.
What about the barebones and OEM market? You have great points about using processors that fail certain QA or QC tests, but I find lots of clients on the enthusiast market forget this.
Dell, HP, Acer still has to make money in all of this and they are big players. Dont forget that market segment!
Sure you can buy the box version of this processor, but dont forget the OEM market has to make money when they build a brand new computer for 500$US using their low powered and low featured motherboards. In the end, this processor has a great power to $ and performance to $ ratio. I dont regret buying an i5 6 years ago that still performs well for the occasional games i play at low resolution, but wow, 80$US for this performance? Hey, even a G4400 is like 50$ OEM version...
Its a great video too! Thanks Steve.
Finally someone compares CPU using a GPU that is likely to be paired with them. Real world questions are like 'should I get a G4560 instead of a I3-7350k and use the extra cash to go from a 1050 to a 1060? This video actually answers that.
Great video with a HUGE amount of data to back up the conclusion. I really appreciate a full comparison like this that satisfies gamers of all price points who are looking to upgrade.
Your tests were very extensive and professional. Thank you so much. Have been trying to find info on a 1060 bottleneck with this CPU and you've given me my answer. Very well done video.
Fantastic video, absolutely superb, thank for all the hardwork!!!!!
I loved this video, it really shows both realistic expectations when paired with a GPU one might buy with it along with the full power of the CPU when paired with the 1080, more CPU benchmarks like these please! :D
Definitely the best channel of YT for benchmarks. Keep going guys, good job!
finally someone thanks me for disabling AdBlock on youtube
Esteban Fuentes Im a scumbag I dont disable it
ME 2 !!!!!
the only reason i have adblock is so i don't get flooded by ads on unusual sites.
CZcams was the first site i added to the whitelist.
what if youtube gets a feature/script that detects adblock and tells you to disable it like a lot of sites nowadays detect it? that would be a huge LOL.
Esteban Fuentes I'm a web developer but I don't use AdBlock
Well many sites with AdBlock detection and asks you to turn them off does show a thank you massage. I usually enable AdBlock if I want to play some music on youtube, though. I don't want Ads if I am to loop the same music a few thousand times.
this channel needs a million subscribers!!! benchmarks are just awesome and informative, good job!
Great benchmarks as always! I'm currently planning a budget build for a friend, so this video really helped me decide on a processor. :)
This was a realy helpfull and compleet no nonsens review:)! I liked the way you explaned that paring a Highend graphics card with a low end CPU isn't the best way to go in most cases. I didn't know that until now.
Wow, great work, I'm very impressed. Great clean well thought out graphs! The effort you put in really shows man and don't think otherwise! You just got a new subscriber!
Great Review! In-depth and comprehensive, *Thanks*. BTW, I added you to the whitelist in Adblock .
Thanks a million for all of those benchmarks! I really learned a lot from it all.
This is my favorite channel when it comes to benchmarks, no bullshits, just the benchmarks you deserve to see.
Very professional video full of useful info. Wanting to build a couple of budget machines in the near future with this chip. Thanks for the info.
Hours of benchmarks and work. Really like and appreciate your content!
Really good video - good chart layout/comparison.
This is what I love about this channel in comparison to others. The detail and effort to show these benchmark numbers is no easy feat yet they still provided it for us. So far this is one of the most comprehensible reviews you can have and happy to say that those numbers are close to my entry level gaming rig in reference to their past videos with the G4400 and GTX 1050ti. Just sad for me that G4560 is already available and almost the same or cheaper than my current G4400. :'(
Thank you Intel! U da best!
this is possibly the most professional, high quality, and organised video I've seen in my life lol
dude. seriously. these videos are amazing.
Very good comparisons. I was looking for a comparison of CPUs with different GPUs as most videos compared them with a very high end gpu which would obviously be bottlenecked. Subsribed!
Great video Steve, much appreciate the time you must have put in to make this video.
Awesome job.. You improved my knowledge and helped me a lot! Thank you ;)
Amazing work. Now we have an estimate table of which CPU is the minimum for which game and at what point do GPUs start to get bottlenecked by which CPU. Tons of work done - thank you for that!
I watch a lot of benchmark videos, and let me say, this is by far the most impressive and well thought out benchmark video I have seen. Thank you so much! I think my new budget build will be a G4560 and a RX 470 ;D
Thanks for the extensive benchmarking! I trust it takes a good while to do it all, but someone's gotta do it!
best benchmark ever!!! I hope all your future benchmarks will be like that (using different GPUs with different CPUs)
Excellent benchmarking. Like you said at the beginning most reviewers don't set up their tests in a way that consumers can actually use to make good decisions. Also appreciate the fact that you spoke about real-world impressions and stuttering - it is in this section that you missed an opportunity to test an adaptive sync set up.
Wow extremely insightful. Good work, and thank you for the time it must have taken!
Great video. I just built my first PC recently using the G4560 and 1050ti combo and it runs amazing for the low-budget price range.
Thumbs up! Hands down... AMAZING video Steve... As usual, thanks for this video.. But.. But... Can you test it with the RX family? It would be great! And don't worry for the ad block, we know you need the money!
100k goal for the Hardware Unboxed channel guys! Let's make it happen this year:) Great video btw
This video is pure gold! Thanks for this. Great work.
Sir, Amazing work. Really appreciate the amount of work you put into this benchmark. Thank you.
I can easily see the marriage of G4560 with 1050 Ti would be a great value oriented budget 1080p Gaming PC. Wow!
Amazing video as always, thanks for the Info.
2 minutes in, just want to say I'm excited for the results
i really like how you compare it against other cpu with a few different configuration. you got a thumb up from me and that would be a subscribe.
Exactly what i wanted !! No one has done like this ! You got a Sub
Great review. I've been contemplating a similar build, only with a slightly higher specced G4600 to go with an overclocked 1050 Ti for a friend who's on a very tight budget, who's also not into "twitch" gaming in a big way, preferring more strategy and puzzle based games. Your review's really helped to make up my mind whether to go with a 1050 Ti with a boot SSD or an RX 470 sans SSD.
18:05 Ouch i forgot, sorry. Will do next video! Great video content as always
This is the most comprehensive benchmark I have seen..well done
thanks for a very informative video man, love your content! 👍
honestly -one of- the best benchmark video I've ever seen, makes so much more sense to compare with multiple graphics cards to get accurate and realistic results. no more celeron benchmarks with a 1080ti :D
Hardware Unboxed That's a top level job pointing the performance cap for a cpu / gpu.Well done !!
I am highly appreciative! You just set up a wonderful answer to the question "what intel cpu bottlenecks a GTX videocard?"
Thanks a ton for taking the time to do all this!
That's 408 benchmarks for one vid
Thx a lot
Keep up the great hardwork and epic video !
Amazing Benchmark Guide!!
Finally, a good, unbiased, professional comparison that gives the facts and leaves it at that. Thanks for the great work!
Great benchmark.. very clear and detailed ... thank you
Thanks for this video guys. It is very informative and is so helpful seeing a side by side comparison of all those CPUs in relation to the Nvidia GPUs. I have been looking to save money on my next upgrade and I think the G4560 will be just right for what I need (Unless AMD bring something more tempting to the table). Keep up the good work!
This is one of the best in depth review i have ever seen.
Great benchmarking, thank you so much! :D
Omg so much work, well done mate
Excellent video man. Good to see low/mid range gpus included as well as high end. Would be keen to see how the Pentium compares to a slower clocked i5...6400/7400 and an amd gpu included like a 470.
Excellent review as always
the benchmarks are on top as always
Really good video, mate.
Very helpful video. Thanks a lot 😊
I think this video was simply superb. So informative
Great video mate good logical tests
What a great video. I can only imagine the time it took to get all the data.
Thx for this video, it was extremaly helpful 👍👍👍
Not so sure why I watched this video if I knew already what was the outcome... Perhaps the next HTPC I will build will be different, thanks to Steve. Personally, im still quite satisfied with my i5-760 that i spent about 240$CAN close to 6 years ago. The difference in $ would most likely be well spent on a Z or X series motherboard with not too much bloat-gaming-features.
Steve, you spent the whole week to show and explain us what again and again has been true for the processor industry. i7 are for gaming enthusiast clients (affluent kids) and the entry level processor will most likely always be the best bang for your bucks. Hopefully this video will be the standard and you have convinced enough people to not waste their money on i7 processors to get 2xx FPS on first person shooter games.
Well done video!
Have you thought of comparing this CPU with the g3258 and FX-6300? I'd be very interested to see those results.
Nice work Steve. Always happy to see you in my sub feed
How did I not know this great channel before? I blame everyone of you for not informing me personally!
Great Video! You should pick 4 or 5 of these ''most significant games'' and re-test with other AMD budget options like athlon 880K or FX-6300 for example and see if this intel dual-core is better or worst overall...
Thanks for this great review, again it's honest and complete..:)
Great bench tests fella. Thats my budget gaming pc sorted one g4560 with a gtx 1050ti.
very good benchmarking. I like the way you used the 1060 and 1050ti to show the point where you can get away with a cheaper cpu.
Very informative, thanks.
Very clear review. Nice👍
This is the BEST benchmark video I've ever watched, from a consumer point of view. Great job !
Thanks mate I appreciate that.
This is the reason why I love this channel ....Awesome research....
Brilliant test. All cpu benchmarks should be done like this
This is some of the best yest methodology I have ever witnessed. I Thank you sir. I would love to see that G4560 tested against some similarly priced AMD cpus like the 860k and 880k
Please add Arma 3 Apex to you're cpu tests.
your^
They had Arma in their tests for some time, but It's gone again. I want it back as well!
ray ray On servers.
Great benchmark, could you include the rx 470 in future videos pls
Yeah I was a bit shocked not to see an RX 470 or 480. That can at least outline generally how well GCN handles a 2 thread gaming experience.
+Crashtoob The Pentium G4560 has 4 threads.
Messier im pretty sure that the rx 470 is the best gpu for this CPU as thier probably line to like and there's not going to be much of a bottleneck and you can get it as cheap as 140 dollars on newegg with a rebate form
I agree, I was kinda hoping for at least a 480 since they're so close, and I wanted to see DX11 Vs DX12 and Vulkan. Besides, I actually have a 470, and yep, I'm looking at the Pentium as a potential upgrade.
Bartholomew AMD's GCN GPU architecture is notorious for having trouble with DX11 being single-threaded.
I have an i5 and a RX480 but i'm looking for a system configuration for a friend and this pentium g and the rx470 looks like a great price/performance ratio for general gaming
Funny how hyper threading was created by intel to try to overcome the horrible inefficiency of the Pentium 4, but now it provides a huge performance increase in there newest CPU's, even thought it is not completely necessary.
SMT was actually invented by IBM back in 1968. SMT and HT just have a second set of registers, stack, pointers, flag register, etc. for the second thread, but use the same execution units/hardware in a core such as floating point. Some threads do not use all of the hardware on a core so the second thread can use whatever hardware is not being used by the primary thread. Earlier versions fought over the hardware on a core more then current ICs.
Oh, I see, that is why HT never really gave the P4 much of a performance boast like it does in the Core i7. Thanks for the info.
It was patented by Intel, making it harder for AMD to compete. I'm curious about Ryzen because they claim to have CPUs with 2 threads per core.
Ryzen comes out with SMT specifically if I'm not mistaken here.
Excellent video (as always). I do wish you had included an RX 470 though as I do feel that that would probably be the best fit for the Pentium. :0)
now this is what I call a real review, very well done
This is an excellent video!
Also, I feel like with the lower end GPUs, being maxed out, it makes sense that at ultra settings they would have similar numbers, but what about at more playable settings.. For example, if you dropped the settings to medium/high on the gtx 1050ti and 1060, since the GPUs wouldn't be completely maxed out, the CPUs would have more legroom, and I think there would be an increase significance in framerates when comparing the higher CPUs at lower settings on the lower end cards. I could be wrong, but I think it would be interesting. I'm sure it takes many hours to run all of these tests, so I just want to thank you all for the work that you put into these videos. It really shows with such quality content.
If you lower the quality settings and shoot for maximum FPS then yeah the G4560 will start to limit system performance. That said for budget gamers seeking playable performance with impressive visuals then the G4560 will work well. It's not a CPU for 144Hz gaming :D
MrDeeb8 I also wonder what would happen if you just turned down some CPU demanding settings like the draw distance, as this should take some load off the processor. But that would of course be a hell lot of work for him :/
thats a great batch of game you covered thank you :)
And you did it again Awesome Data set Compiled Kudos to you Awesome
This must have taken a while! Keep up the great work Steve! Only one request can you add rainbow six siege to your benchmarks? Their is an in game benchmark so it can be consistent.
I only dropped Rainbow Six Siege because it's a 2015 title, I already have so many 2016 games in the list, it's hard to test everything. That said I will see what I can do and thank you very much for the continued support!
Hardware Unboxed I absolutely love your channel! And I totally understand there are a lot of games you test! Keep up the great work!
can i use your benchmarks for commentary and then reference and link your video?
Yes, as long as you give credit that is fine. Thank you.
I will definitively credit you and send the link when it's done
Thank you for doing this exhaustive benchmark, as a i3-6100 + GTX 1060 owner, this does make me feel good about not wanting to upgrade.......yet :D
Thanks for the benchmark!
I overclocked my GPU to 1744 MHz, Boost 1959 MHz, Memory 2 277 MHz and it is stable.
Great cheap gaming rig and I built just a couple of days ago.
UserBenchmarks: Game 87%, Desk 75%, Work 43%

ok this benchmark vid is amazing and SHOULD be helpful to heaps of ppl shopping for parts
i wish more channels would learn from your chart and graphs making skills
Great benchmark video as always, keep up with the good work and all the best for you.
My request will be if you can benchmark Watch Dogs 2 because it's very CPU intensive from what I know and I would preferred the GTX 1070 to be tested instead of the GTX 1080, but still enjoyed this video.
Normally I do test Watch Dogs 2 but for some reason no matter what I tried my copy crashed when loading, gave a memory error. Not sure what's going on there I will have to try and work it out tomorrow ;)
Hardware Unboxed Well, that's unfortunate. Good luck in solving the problem. I hope it's not ubisoft mistake.
That's next level myth busting awesome job just loved it
Awesome you did this!
Amazing stuff tyvm this is why i sub :)
Are alot of the games that run well on the G4560 console ports?
those are some serious extensive testings!
