      @UnintelligentVideos Před 3 lety +2

      Depends on the Manufacturer. Sometimes the PSU is too low to add anything, like 120W. And its also proprietary, so an ATX PSU cannot connect to the prebuilt's motherboard. Then you're screwed.
      In fact most prebuilts have non replaceable PSU's. Notice how the PSU was not upgraded in the video

    • @UnintelligentVideos
      @UnintelligentVideos Před 3 lety +1

      @Gyro Adapters exist but don't work on most HP computers, idk about dell. The motherboards have a Watt limit like the Erica board, you can't supply more than 200W in. So you will need a similar workstation board like the Rother that can take 500. The HP 24 to 6 pin is not supposed to work, reducing the pins in which power is delivered is highly not recommended, there is a high chance of damage to the motherboard.

    Love your videos, sir. Yes, the power supplies in this old machines usually don’t have 6 pin connectors but more importantly they are usually 240-260 watts. Therefore, the low power draw is important. I just upgraded a Dell Optiplex with an i7-3770 CPU by installing a GTX 1050 Ti that I got on Offer Up for $85 and it works great. I tested the system on Unigine Valley using Medium and Ultra settings and the power draw was never over 150 watts. So I have a nice eSports machine for under $250.

    For that system i would actually drill holes on the side panel just so the GPU is able to get more air because in a normal type of system the max i have seen is 55c which if the GPU is going in the 70's then there isn't enough airflow and would be best to have something like that or for someone that would have more heavy duty power tools could cut out a big hole on the side panel and then use a mesh like filter which would be helpful especially if said person would have like a table fan could just angle it and would have some air pushing into the system.

      @@BlueEyedVibeChecker this information is totally just information but other than boot times (not to mention after a HDD hits over 80% the read/write type changes to be slower to protect data) SSD highly boosts OS operation, game loading (especially in open world games), render speeds, etc. It's just better overall, and they last literal hundreds of times longer under the same use. They also frequently use less power. SSDs really are just overall better technology. The thing is they are, truly, not always necessary, but it's best to always have a dedicated drive for the OS and a secondary and possibly third drive for mass storage and programs.

    I have that same system except I put in the Xeon e3-1270, upgraded the ram to 16gb as well, and slapped in a gt1030 (gddr5) that I scored for fifty bucks (disclaimer, the 1650 lp didn't exist when I got the system, plus it was out of the budget at the time anyway). I scored the 1270 for just under 40 bucks and the thing runs circles around the original i5 2400 that came with the system. I gotta say though, the 1030 can still rock e-sports games pretty decently and can even hold it's own on some modern titles as well with a few tweaks here and there.
