Going for the first time in three weeks thanks to the OGA special. Really looking forward to Old Mac as it's the one course I've really wanted to see first on property. I know I'll be giddy to see and experience it. Thanks for the videos to help make sense of the place as I know it can get overwhelming quickly.
The more I play Old Mac the more I love the experience and am stimulated by it strategically. The last two winters I feel like they have moved the tees up where the course plays into the prevailing winter wind and it has helped to avoid that fourth hole slog and allowed the holes to play closer to how they were designed. I played Old Mac with two newbies this January and I tried (along with the caddy) to offer as much insights into the templates and strategy which helped my friends appreciate the course more quickly. Like Trails, if people are skipping out on Old Mac to only play the courses with ocean views then they’re really missing out. Thanks for exposing more people to Old Mac!
Played it in January and felt like 4 was still pretty ridiculous but really enjoyed the course otherwise. First time.
@@MikeCline yeah, don’t get me wrong, #4 is still a beast even if they move the tees up 15-30 yards compared to the summer. But it used to be virtually impossible to be on top or in the left channel of the hog back. I hit good drive for me and had 210 (to a back pin) off the top of the hog back this January and that’s about as good a position as I recall mid-winter!
I go every March and when winter wind is up, I move one box up on 4 and one box back on 6
@@poppyloon8for me, I would probably move back on 11 if I picked one. But maybe the wind direction is more helping on 6 in March than in Dec/Jan when I usually go. 11 doesn’t play hard enough if you are hitting a GW into the green which I have done a few times. 6 is plenty difficult for me!
Old Mac my favorite course at Bandon and it is not even close.

You should play every course at the Dunes.
I did not like it the first time I played but played it again this year and really enjoyed it even tho I did not play good golf that day
People that don't like this course usually don't have any imagination and can't really generate golf shots. If all you do is hit a stock shot over and over again this course will eat you alive. This course will test your entire bag.
