- Erik Anders Lang is in the Southern Oregon Coast to play Old Macdonald, the fourth of six courses at Bandon Dunes. This course pays homage to the “Grandfather” of American Golf, Charles Blair Macdonald. Nestled on the coastline of southern Oregon, it evokes traditional Scottish courses with wide sweeping fairways, and wild undulating greens. Designed by Tom Doak and Jim Urbina, Old Mac ranks 12th on Golf Digest’s top 100 public courses in both 2019 and 2020. Join Erik as he takes you shot for shot on Old Mac.

Erik: *3-putts the first hole*
Erik: *3-putts the fourth hole* "And here's the first three putt of the day"
Looks like EAL has perfected the art of forgetting bad shots! A short memory is a golfer's best friend.
Love the content, guys. Keep it up!
I was wondering if anyone caught that lol that’s so funny 😂
Greens at OM are so big it's easy to lose count of your three-putts
Peter finch will be loving all the RGC fans coming his way now XD
Hopefully they don’t watch the video where Peter made an 11
Only four hours away is the most golf thing I’ve ever heard. And I love it.
It's nice to know that im not the only one who hacks it up from time to time. 3 Putts are my nemesis and its good to see Erik and I prove once and for all, Misery Loves Company.
Im just a couple weeks out from my first visit. Reading Dream Golf, looking over yardage books and your videos are the perfect pairing. This folks, is why the internet is grand 😅
The mini tracer on the divots is tight 😎
Divot tracer! This is next level EAL! okay, enough exclamation points for me today.
Im from pdx oregon...so awsome that your showing oregons golf destinations..truly some of the best..."and for such cal collective voice we can tell u take the game seriuos. Ty
The color grading in this one is just... chef kiss
“If you go to Bandon Dunes don’t make a course vlog, don’t write down your scores, just play for fun!” This is great advice that I should have taken before filming my round at Sheep Ranch last week 😂😂
These are my favorite course vlogs on all of youtube! You’re too hard on yourself EAL
Holy shit, my 7 year old son and I had so much fun watching this. Way more entertaining than watching a normal tournament. Thanks! Just booked Bandon for 4 nights in June 2022 and will be playing Old Macdonald (which is why we're watching), Sheep Ranch, Pacific, and Bandon over 3 days. Haven't played there since I was in high school in 1999!
Editing and shot tracker are very well done 👍
Our boys trip to Bandon in April got cancelled due to the pandemic, so I'm living vicariously through these course vlogs.
Really appreciate that EAL tried to make the experience feel as authentic as possible for me - that quintuple bogey was a mirror image of my blow-up holes.
Love that the graphic actually said 8000 feet for the putt on 9 😂 great as always Erik!
@14:29 9th hole. On the green. Erik says "...I have a putt for 8,000 feet..." On the graphics: "Putter, 8,000 feet" Laughed so hard haha.
The best golf narration teamed up with wonderful editing. Where else am I going to be able to watch golf and learn about the average time it takes a plane to reach certain altitudes? Brilliant
Love your videos, thanks for posting, watched this video before playing Old Mac and absolutely pounded my putts 10 ft past the hole all day,
will the PGA tour please let Erik commentate a tournament!!!!! I love the shot for shot vlogs. keep it up. I think we all get stoked when you hit good shots and identify when they aren't hit "as desired." so glad I started watching this series!
Watching this deployed and in the dessert. So thankful that you make these videos
Earliest I’ve ever been to one of your videos. You’ve resurrected my love of golf! Keep doin you, Eric.
Don't stop making 9s EAL. Makes you more relatable!
There might be better golfers but no one comes close to your awesome and beautiful videos.
Cheers
EAL......BRO....Those socks are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love watching these videos, Erik! Don't feel down about not playing well. It happens and it makes you more relatable.
love these vlogs - as a very average golfer, its weirdly encouraging to see you occasionally meltdown and one of the best ways to really get a good look at a course before playing it is by watching someone you like play it on youtube.
You truly make a beautiful course vlog. And the viewing experience is second to none.
My favorite course out of them all. I can't believe he didn't say anything about cresting the hill by the tree.
Suddenly have the urge to go to south Oregon
Honestly I love that fact you do the talk over and the shot tracer and we can just watch you play golf and enjoy the beauty of the course great work keep it up
These are the best videos of Bandon courses yet made. Please do sweetens cove
Will be heading there soon to record a shot by shot. And posting all my Bandon plus Erin Hills coming soon. Check out insta dirtyhipstergolf.
Love these videos, they must take a long time to edit/ make and I respect the effort you put into it.
Also you should try playing tigers high school course called dad miller. It's near the santa Anita gc. It would be cool to see that video.
Hey, thanks, my guy. We really appreciate all the time our editor spends on making the course vlogs. We aim to entertain and inspire our audience, so thank you for hopping on the comments and acknowledging the effort it takes to make these. We're so happy you enjoy them! Love the recommendation. That would be a really cool spot to film, so thank you for the suggestion. Hit 'em straight! - Team RGC
@@RandomGolfClubFilms thanks for responding, hit them straight too!
You've been hella inspiring, Erik!
Big love from CO!
The only thing missing Eric is the rain and wind, interspersed with a bit of sun to complete the authentic Scottish feel. They say if you can play links you can play anywhere.. Well, I for one dismiss that notion. I’ve been playing links for last 40 years and I’m still shite on every other course. Hahaha.
Oh man that 9, I could feel all of those shots.
Love the course vlogs, Erik! Keep me coming. They’re produced so well.
Please keep doing these!
Love these Bandon videos. Heading there in August... I’m watching these daily.
Perfect lockdown viewing... keep them coming EAL. Love your work
Dude, I love course vlogs in general and yours are great! You've got a very funny, dry, self-deprecating style which is very funny and entertaining. You do a great job.
Love the content, thank you for the entertainment. Legend!
everyday i wake up praying for another video 🖤
Really enjoying these videos, Erik!
I watched the teaser about the tree on your instagram, and was really expecting you to just whack the ball straight into the tree, based on the teaser.
Parrot Shirt Pat! Whatta guy. #darkhorse love these course vlogs!!!
Erik, you are the man!
What a great video. Beautifully edited with great game and fun vibes. Makes me wanna go out even though it’s the middle of the night.
Michael Douglas from Falling Down, nice👍
Love these.
Awesome looking course Eric, love these Vlog's
Love watching these to bring me back to Bandon. February can’t come soon enough! Playing 6 rounds, all five courses-Trails twice! Then Bandon Crossings in a cart on the way home! Oh Happy Day. Thanks EAL and RGC for the golf content as this NorCal guy shelters in place 🤙🏽
Check out Silvies Valley Ranch too!
Love your videos. As someone who just picked up golf as a way to get out of the house in the pandemic, these are a perfect primer for me, keep it up!
Love all of the Bandon properties. Another great video. Old Mac is underrated.
Same here, I love lightning quick greens, those would eat me up!
I would love to play some links style course just never had the opportunity!! The 8000ft putt would of been cool if you could of knocked that in!! Good to hear you did better on the back 9!! Really like the course vlogs!!
Nice to see some 9’s on CZcams! I’m sure most people cut them out
Awesome vlog! Keep grinding ! 😁
Old Mac was my first round at Bandon. Had a great start with a 4 putt on #1. Figured out the greens after that and loved the course.
Lets go! Kudos to your post production department btw. Love the graphics/look and feel of RGC.
A huge thank you to our editor Elliot. He perfectly captures the vibe of RGC!
Absolutely love these course vlogs and am heading up to Bandon Dunes in a week and couldn’t be more excited!
On my bucket list.... how or what did you look into to go? Especially how things have been
We're trying to go back. What course(s) are you playing?
Random Golf Club Films we’ll be playing bandon, pacific, trails, and the new sheep ranch! Your videos on sheep ranch were awesome to see.
Kaleb Crowder sheep ranch is something else. My favorite course there
Public course Bidwell Park Golf Course or Bailey Creek Golf course in Northern California.
Bailey Creek! Nice shout out. Then you gotta play Lake Almanor CC and Almanor West!
@@HumboldtB52Bombers Been there.
I told myself i was taking a break from golf after i shot 61 on 9 holes yesterday. (usually shoot mid low 40s with occasional dips into the high 30s.) after watching this I'm heading back out.
Love the course vlogs, the aesthetics are always so pleasing. Please do a tracer tutorial! I’m dying to give it a try!
I don't want to watch another course vlog!! Yours are more real. Sometimes great shots, sometimes average shots. It works for me. Makes me feel normal.
Commentary genius as always
man do i feel u on those 3 putts.... when u play a bunch of different courses its hard to get the putting dialed in. especially when u go from fast green to slow greens. almost impossible to not leave most putts short. great video per usual!
You need to go do a video at Primland Resort! Unbelievable course.
Loving your deep radio voice Erik. 😉
Would love to see you play Cruit island one day. Possibly the best 9 whole course in the world
FInally you got a caddie! Its expensive but so worht it, they help you so much especially with all of these greens
When the vlog started I wondered.. hmm it sounds like Erik is bummed.. LOL we all care so much about our score. I am speaking for myself here but.. +11 on the front 9 is more relatable to your audience than you probably realize!
Love these videos! Wanted to point out that, it will be stroke 4 after dropping a ball that was lost off the tee box, when using the new local rule! Keep these coming!
The return of the divot tracer!
I don’t understand how to stay committed. Golf sober is a mental battle. After those fall apart holes we light a joint and open a beer, it’s the Canadian rules to playing bad golf
It’s not Friday without a course vlog
The old saying of never leave a birdie putt short is very applicable on these greens jeezus
first off - love the vlog! Didn't look like you got much help from your caddie.
Love your content. Also really love the divot tracer...
One of the best additions we've ever made. Have you been watching the course vlog series?
@@RandomGolfClubFilms I have and because of that i'm trying to plan a trip to Bandon... My wife is going to kill me.
Divot tracer is undefeated
We love a good divot tracer
Great video man! I hope you get some time to work on that short game! One of the most rewarding parts of golf for me. My high school coach used to force the team to compete from 100 yards in every practice. He'd have two of us pair up and play a hole stroke play style while the rest of the team watched, first to 3 wins. It was a great way to work on the short game and shave strokes during real matches - you can find yourself in some creative situations and build tons of feel around the greens. You're a way better golfer than I am or will be but maybe keeping it simple might help!
Old Mac wasn't kind to me too. Random AM showers and erratic wind made it difficult to get into a rhythm. However, Bandon Trails was afternoon redemption with a gentle breeze and full sun.
Love your vlogs, great stuff. Which app are you using to trace your shots?
Fwiw I played this course the same weekend - Old Mac was running WAY slower than Pac, Trails and Bandon Dunes - I feel these 3 putts. Shot 93.
Hey Erik, there is a course that you should look into it’s called millsite golf club. It’s in emery county Utah in the middle of the nowhere. It’s got great views and is really fun.
You should post where your next tee time in the description section when you upload the videos, so people can try and pair up with you :D
Downers Grove golf course at 0:25 is my home course. The oldest 18 hole course in America
I do watch a lot of Peter Finch but tbh I enjoy your videos more. There’s something about watching a really good golfer make a 9 and at least appear to shrug it off and move on. Much love for Finch but he’s made three videos so far about the 11 he made a few weeks ago lol
I want you to provide color commentary for my game sometime! Priceless!
Love the channel man! Come play some rounds out in the SGV
I too way over-read the greens and the perceived break here. It felt like my caddy was telling me either left/ridge edge instead of being several cups out which I initially thought.
when he said i didn’t go left i thought he was gonna hit the tree😭
Michael Douglas in Falling Down!!
Erik can you please do a course vlog at rancho park gc?
I watch your course vlogs because it feels like we make the same mistakes
You have never hit that 58 degree wedge well. I, too, have been afflicted with the self-destructive urge to try and "make" an ill-fitted club work. If it won't, it won't. It's not me. It is the club. Throw it out. Some kid or caddie will love to have it.
Its like watching Anthony Bourdain play golf
People with good taste know Old Mac is the best course at Bandon.
Haha, speaking of "Falling Down" - would pay to see you in a pro-shop holding a slightly imperfect, still new ball, pointing at the advertisement banner and asking "does this look like the number 1 golf ball to you?!"
Tell us about the pull cart.
Are big wheels better?
The geometry looks a little awkward.
I have many missus and I'd like you to meet them all !
