    The twinstar is a fantastic plane for fpv, an old timer beefed up with modern materials! I'm sure you will have a blast flying it!
    Cheers from Aus:)

    Glad you're looking at the Vector. All the major retailers seem to have it for $237.99. I checked RMRC, GetFPV and HobbyWireless. Even Hobbyking is advertising that price. I'm not sure there is anywhere you're going to get a "deal" on it, at least not yet. Good luck!

      Chris Riccio Thanks so much for the information. Guess I will go with one of those vendors then. I have dealings with the first two.

    Nice to see the build moving along Dave!
    I'm a big fan of Welders glue
    Thumbs up buddy!

      ***** Thanks Bob, I have bought about 20 tubes of the Welders just in case it disappears off the market :-)

      Good plan. This stuff works just as well and doesn't yellow like Welders will over time. www.amazon.com/BSI-142-Foam-Cure/dp/B00DT86A86
      Both are very good glues!

      ABMNS PRODUCTION Yup, due to popular demand I went with the Vector. Oh the peer pressure :-)

    Vector is easiest fc to set up I've ever had . Osd is great so much info ! Airspeed sensor not necessary it has ground speed but if you want add it . Hope you like it also rcgroups CZcams channel did an install recently if you want to ck it out bonafidepirate is also running vector now . Good luck with the build !

      tracy baker Thanks for the feed back!
      I like to have both ground speed and airspeed to better understand what the wind is doing. I wonder if the Vector can use the same air speed sensor as the apm.

    Flown glow twinstars with 28's 32's 40's and 42's and am new to electrics. Twinstar ARF by GP was a good aircraft with electrics..bad pilot error to rekit it. Like the foam Twinstar very much. A builders-type kit not an ARF. Good video, keep it up...!!

    Hi Dave! I'm glad you're considering the Eagle Tree system for this build. It will be nice to see a practical comparison with the APM on your Skywalker. By the way, ReadyMadeRC has them on sale right now.
    Cheers!

      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      Hi Fergy, Yes I am very interested in seeing how they compare as well.
      I know the Vector does not have mission planning but the rest look great.
      Seems like most vendors have that price drop to $239 and the list is about $279.
      There probably won't be a lower price until after I buy one with my luck :-)

    Putting a vector into my Spector right now. I'm using dragon link but there are plenty of people who use exuhf with the vector. It comes in deans and xt60 and wired configs too. It's amazingly simple and powerful. It's rssi input will work with the exuhf FYI.

    Thanks for the glue test. Been wondering what's best. Also, I had ordered some fiber hinges before I saw your du bro pin hinges and ordered those. looking for good security for my durafly f4u corsair rudder and looking to add rudders to my durafly d.h. vampire so I won't have to yank and bank.

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      Dale Kelley I really like the Dubro nylon pin hinges. I even use them to put hinges on the access doors on my aircraft. The Welder glue is hard to find these days but it sticks to everything including Elapor foam. It will eat Depron foam so be careful not to use it on Depron. Good luck with your f4u!

    Can I go from a 2200mah 3s to a 3700mah 3s without changing the stock esc? Thanks

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      Any 3s LiPo battery will have the same voltage. However I don't know what you mean by "stock esc". My kit didn't come with any esc's.

    Hi Dave, I'm a long time viewer of your channel and really liked your Skywalker build series. I agree with the other comments and also suggest you purchase the Vector OSD. If you haven't ordered it yet, I'd also suggest buying it from Jeremiah at StoneBlueAirlines.com as he is a neat guy and also has a great channel. He is also pretty close I think (Lynchberg, VA) and could probably just about FPV deliver it. Although you will have no problem installing the system, check out d3weyTube channel for a good series on setting up the Vector. Cheers!

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      Thanks for watching my struggles and for the information which could be very helpful later when I setup the Vector. It's on the way btw along with the airspeed sensor.
      StoneBlue was out of stock on the wired version so I went with GetFPV which is in Florida but shipping was free.

    The only problem you'll have with Immersion RC and the Vector, is the failsafe - it's because EZUHF doesn't support extended limits. You'll get an error message that your throttle needs to be over 5% difference..... If you have problems, I know the cure :-)

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      vortecks2000 Doh! :-O Thanks for posting. Please, what is the cure? I would love to know.

    • @Vortecks
      @Vortecks Před 9 lety +1

      ***** It's very hard to explain if you've never tried to set failsafe on the Vector before......Basically, you'll notice that the PPM pulses on the EZUHF only goes down to around 992us.
      When you set your failsafe on the EZUHF, put your throttle trim all the way down on your Taranis (to be sure it's truly at zero - 992us). When you come to do the failsafe on your Vector (before you go through the Vector RC Wizard) put your throttle trim about 2/3 way up and permanently leave it there. You're looking for a minimum of 5% difference between your EZUHF failsafe and your Vector failsafe. The best thing to do, is leave your Taranis trims where they are at first and go through everything - you'll see what I mean..... It only took me around 12 hours to figure it out. All the best with it. Tony :-)

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      vortecks2000 Thank you for that information. I think I understand your work-around. That might work to solve the same problem on the APM as well. Glad you got this figured out and were willing to share the knowledge. Have a good week!

    • @Vortecks
      @Vortecks Před 9 lety

      ***** No problem at all and yes, it will solve the APM problem...... that's my good deed for the week sorted :-)

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      vortecks2000 You are very ingenious adding this permanent positive offset before calibrating. Could the trim offset be added as an offset in the Taranis mixer instead?
      Or could it be a weight value in the mixer? I wonder if it would work the same way.
      At any rate, thanks so much for this cure!

    You have some nice modifications.
    The twinstar is a nice fpv plane.
    Just would like to know why you didnt order the twinstar instead of the Mytwindream:
    www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2251420
    That can carry much more load.
    Cheers, Sander

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      Sander vdl I mentioned in the Part 1 video that I already have a SkyWalker plane which is large enough and wanted a smaller plane so chose the Twin Star instead of the Mytwindream.

    • @Sandervdl
      @Sandervdl Před 9 lety

      ***** I know you have a skywalker also, i follow all of your movies ;-)
      Guess you want to use the skywalker for long range and the twinstar for 'every day use'
      Nice work !

    • @Sandervdl
      @Sandervdl Před 9 lety

      *****
      p.s. i wanted to build the mytwindream myself, but the shipping and extra customs is just too expensive.
      I can purchase 3 skywalkers for that money.

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      Sander vdl Please forgive me if I offended you, I was just being my normal grumpy self lol. Yes the mytwindream is a little pricey and also more costly to build. You are right, I just want something fun to fly around home for some short range FPV flights although I have heard this plane can fly for 30 minutes.

    • @Sandervdl
      @Sandervdl Před 9 lety

      ***** , sorry, has to do with the language barrier. I am trying my best :-)
      Just ordered a bixler 2, just to build something. (much rain and wind of 15 knots bft here)
      On the glue, it will bind much better if you scratch or remove the glossy finish of the elapor on that spot. You can see it on the welders glue that it will 'eat' trough this layer and bind better.
      Cheers !
