    Every day is like Christmas at your house Dave! Great job on the video as usual.
    A big thumbs up!
    Cheers, Bob

      ***** Thanks Mr. Bob! Yes, RC is a gift that just keeps on costing more money :-)

    I'm glad you got the Vector I recommend you using the S-Bus connection on your receiver it works like a charm for the fail safe also you may want to look into the EagleEyes ground station for telemetry, diversity and antenna tracker

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      Luis Fernando Suárez Harašić I will probably go with the SPPM which works with my EZUHF receiver. I have heard from Vortecks2000 that EZUHF requires a special trick for the failsafe setup but does work.

    Got the Vector Victor? he he
    Great stuff Dave, I can't wait for the next one....

      ***** Thanks a bunch. Been enjoying your Scuba vids and wishing I could go along. Today I had the enjoyment of a root canal job. My first.

    I'm doing the same build. Just got my bird and Vector yesterday. From my test fitting it looks like I'm going to mount the controller on a light ply shelf an inch or so below the wing close to the CG. GPS is going on the tail just ahead of the vertical stabilizer. The current sensor will either go below the main unit or in one of the original servo locations in the nose.

      v8eater2 Sounds like a good plan. I may do something similar. Still trying to decide.

    looks like we are not going to see differential thrust ... ;-)
    as always nice video!

      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      Dan iel Thanks! No promises on differential thrust. I need to get the plane to fly the normal way before doing anything like that.

    You don't joke with your motors mount reinforcements lol
    You should try Dragon Link one day instead of EzUHF ;)
    I will stay tune for part 5 :)

      ABMNS PRODUCTION I was worried about the silicon glue holding on that crazy Elapor foam so I added some wood and Welder glue. Guess I will just cross my fingers. Que Sera, Sera. I really don't have any trouble with EzUHF. The Vector works well with the SPPM on the EZUHF. What trouble have you experienced with it?

    • @blackmennewstyle
      @blackmennewstyle Před 9 lety

      ***** I saw a lot of people having troubles with their receiver like my friend Nicolas who crashed his multirotors in a fish farm. He only uses Dragon Link now lol
      I have to say also i have chance (or not!) to talk with one of these guys working from this company on a french forum and it was not the kind of discussion i will probably forget before a long time, he was clearly very "racist" against asian people and he was not constrained by his disgusting beliefs.
      I am a man with convictions and asia is part of my family, i don't really want to have any business with this kind of people and i will certainly not feed them :)
      So ImmersionRC, no thanks! But if you enjoy their products and have any troubles with them i am very happy for you :)

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety +1

      ABMNS PRODUCTION Maybe ImmersionRC has made some changes to EZUHF that have corrected any trouble they were having. Even so I will keep an eye on the situation. So far my experience has been good. I only use it on planes however and so can not comment on how it works with multirotors.
      So sorry to hear about your experience with them on the forum, sounds like you ran into a bad apple. You know one bad apple ruins the whole bunch :-) Have a good day my friend!

    I ended up mounting my Vector with velcro (on a plywood shelf). Using a piece the width and length of the Vector, it holds perfectly strong and it also dampens vibration. You can guarantee that, if you mount it with something whereby it can't be removed, you'll need to take it out at some point. Also, remember that the Vector's power outputs can only give 1a on each output (camera and VTX) so you'll need to use one of your ESCs for servo power and only run the signal wire to the Vector.
    The best thing to do is read the very comprehensive manual from start to end - it's usually a last resort for us men, but I strongly recommend it.
    If it helps (probably not) you could watch my Skywalker/Vector build video. Maybe there's something in there that'll give you inspiration....... czcams.com/video/l2ow3lp6YcM/video.html

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 9 lety

      I will watch it with interest! I will probably use a UBEC for my servos like I did on my SkyWalker. Thanks for the tip on the mounting of the Vector. I now have the manual printed out but reading all 88 pages might be a challenge.

    Having been using Thunderbird 18 escs in the past, they never needed calibrated. Do your Turnigy 30 amp esc's need calibrated in some way? Anything need tweaked in the ESC for reverse wiring, or just reverse the red/black? wires on the right motor so they counter rotate (CW when viewed from front) for counter rotating props?

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 8 lety

      +theskyisthelimit The only calibrating I had to do was the high/low throttle cal which you can do anytime. Just start with the throt full, turn on the radio. wait for beeps then go low. Check your ESC manual for instructions. This insures the motors rotate at the same speed and reduces unwanted yaw.

  • @markm75
    @markm75 Před 8 lety

    On your control rods, did you cut those to size and make your own bends on one end or did you somehow recreate the threading on the other end. I'm going to move my servos from the rear to the areas you did and I'm guessing I just cut the existing rod and rebend.

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 8 lety

      +theskyisthelimit I used some piano wire that was thicker than the original wire for strength. I put a Z-bend one end and kept the other end straight. I put some keepers on the control surface horns then slid the straight ends into them and tightened down the screws on the keepers once I was happy with the centering.

    Hello. I've never put together (or flown) a dual-motor plane. Could you explain how to combine the two esc servo leads? Starting @ 2:44, you explain some, but I'm not sure what you did to get the end result.

    • @DaveMerc
      @DaveMerc  Před 8 lety

      +Jason Charger Actually I didn't use the grounds either. What i did is just ran both signal wires from the ESC's to the Throttle channel. Ground and Voltage are already provided by the ESC power plug. I think the final configuration is shown in a subsequent video.
