Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

Mike Gets Nacho To Safety | Better Call Saul
/ breakingbad - Zábava
"To safety" He probably went to the most dangerous place he could ever been... to Gustavo's hands
Nah, the Salamanca's would have brutally tortured him and then killed his dad. Gus was his best option.
It was either him or his father
Ok, but it was either that or getting brutally mutilated by the Salamanca twins
Nah the salamanca's are way worse
His only choice has always been death since the tuco thing. He should have got out before that but knowing tuco, getting out isn't a option either, being he was super paranoid
Mike really went above and beyond to protect nacho like one of his own. Shame it ended the way it did.
He didn’t do crap. Just offered him something he had no control over - nacho getting out of the game. If Nacho played loyalty to Salamanca, he’d probably be better off.
@@KAzik10001 nice spoiler
@@borris3768 Why would you ever read comments if you are afraid of spoilers?
@@KAzik10001 nah, cuz hector was going to get his father into the business, which would have ended in his death. That's the entire reason nacho tried to kill hector. Prior to that, no one had any idea that he paid to setup tuco, or that tuco was set up at all. So if hector didn't try to involve nacho's father, nacho would have stayed with the salamancas and probably would have been fine.
@@KAzik10001 What I never got is why Nacho just didn't tell the Salamanca's what was up and have them just kill Gus, while they watched over his dad.

Notice how Nacho never wants to eat but knowing he’s going to die he actually enjoyed that meal.
It could've been worse. They could've just given him takeout from Los Pollos Hermanos.
Even symbolically speaking I would have enjoyed that more than the hospital meal chicken he ended up with.
He signed his death warrant when he tried off Hector. Nacho was a dead man regardless. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. At least he went out on his own terms.
It’s very symbolic to how he hasn’t eaten in days
@@jarpt1 but he had opportunities to eat
The thought that just occurred to me while watching this shot of nacho laying in that storage space really hit me hard. There’s NO way he didn’t think, laying in the dark: “I’m already in a coffin. This is what it will be like. Total darkness and silence. I’m might as well be dead now”.
yet till the last moment, he still resist with all his cards, ultimately making his own death, what a legend
Well it’s in truck, he hears a lot so I think the tension all the way up keept him feelin alive
"silence" - oh yes, metal containers are completely sound proof especially when attached to a cargo truck and even more silent when that truck moves.
Are you one of the hitmen Gus sent after lalo?
@@monkeydluffy2063Oh shut up lol
@monkeydluffy2063 You don’t have to be a dick about it
When I saw nacho first time in BCS I never imagined I am going to feel bad when his character dies.
same, but he grew on me. especially since i have always thought he resembles rango, that cowboy lizard and i loved that movie growing up
I already liked him the first time i saw him. Angry face, soft voice 🤣
Gotta love good character development. Something not too common anymore
Damn bro they could've at least given him a pillow or something
Scenes like this make me really glad Gus dealt with Victor the way he did.
Him and Tyrus are so good at being detestable lol.
haha yeah he is the moral guide to follow :P
He was smirking after nacho died too😂
I mean, Gus was the one that asked to beat up Nacho in the first place
@@AngryMaguireidk tyrus just seems like a guy doing his job

The way Mike gets upset and angry when Victor mentions that Nacho is too clean gets me. He just told his friend that its his last day is tomorrow and now they need to beat him up so it doesn't look suspicious to the Salamanca's.
Yeah the characters in these shows were phenomenal. The writers did an amazing job.

Nacho literally giving himself up to die for Gus*
He died to protect his dad.
@@steveblake8509 which was bullshit plot device. there were a million other ways to protect his dad.
@@jotarokujo5132 Protect is relative. His dad was in the crosshairs no matter what.
Nacho only died because that is what Gus planned to do with him afterwards the day he enslaved him as his mole.
Mike told Gus to let Nacho go after they sent Lalo to Mexico and Gus bluntly refused.
And Mike let it all happen and had the gall to claim the Salamancas would pay for what they did to Nacho.
I remember thinking in his first few scenes that Nacho had brains and potential, he was just caught up in a system too much for any one individual. He was the Bodie of this series.
well if we are honest it was Gus' sloppiness in dealing with Hector and Lalo that got Nacho (and eventually himself) killed. He was blinded by rage and saved Hector's life from Mike and from Nacho, wanted to kill Hector himself in BB, and hired an incompetent team to take out Lalo.
Probably my favourite detail of the scene is the drink. At first it seems like it's to numb the pain for Nacho. Then Nacho notices there are two glasses. He sees Mike pour the drink and you can see he is deeply moved by this old guy who has only ever been gruff with him sharing a drink. Maybe it's my own perception, but the way he stands and watches is so much like a child watching his Dad pour him his first drink. Probably something an old fashioned father like Mike and Nacho's dad would have done for their sons. It's often an acknowledgment that a son has become a man in his own right and bonds them as such.
A great detail is that Mike waits until Nacho picks up the glass. It really highlights that this is meaningful beyond the practicalities but is also about respect (which is the other tenet Mike defines himself by.) Then, it seems like Mike is maybe about to say something, but then he sets himself and knocks it back. Then it is revealed the drink was not just for bonding, respect or for Nacho's pain, but for his own as he drains it in one while Nacho savours it.
I think it's to numb the pain for Mike as well more than anything. Gotta be hard to beat someone up like this. You notice he drinks first too.
You went kinda deep there man, I think for nacho it was to numb the pain and for Mike to get him though it. Also a nice gesture having a drink with someone you worked with a few times as things come to an end.
And then after everything nacho had been thru, Mike thought he could use a drink as a nice gesture aswell. He really liked nacho.
Mike really had a soft spot for a few people, and they all got killed.
Well except for his granddaughter, daughter-in-law, and Wendell.
Except, you know... Jesse.
And debately Saul
@@andysan3764 Wendell got turned into Los Pollos Hermanos,
I just noticed that Mike needed that drink more than Nacho did.
They can’t slip a yoga mat, nothin’ under him?

Heartbreaking to watch considering knowing what will happen next...
What an awesome scene. The drink they shared shows the mutual respect they had for each other.
I hate victor so much. I felt bad about Gus doing him how he did in breaking bad but Better Call Saul makes that death a little satisfying. Victor wishes he was Nacho
Why would victor wish he was nacho, what's so awesome about being nacho
@@kennywelter9886Not being nearly as morally reprehensible.
What did he do wrong? Lol
I think there's an interesting observation to be made about these shows and the act of sharing a drink one on one. Kim and Jimmy, Jimmy and Franchesca, Nacho and Eladio, Nacho and Lalo, Nacho and Mike, Mike and Werner, etc.
There's always a lot said without words whenever drinks are served.
Victor's smirk makes me glad he felt the sting of betrayal from Gus when he died.
Watch Nacho's death scene....right before Victor and Gus get into the car...you can see Victor smirking again 😐
Knowing your own fate must feel like the most terrible thing in the world.
I dont know man... I think "went to death row" is more appropriated. He even had a last meal.
He indeed does lead him to "safety", but momentarily.
Mike brings Nacho back to Gus, who plans to turn him over to the Salamanca's and have him killed

I still laugh at how pudgy and old Victor looks in this prequel. One of the many Benjamin Button characters lol

I feel like Mike saw aspects of Nacho in Jesse. Although probably had more innocence in him, I think Nacho's death bothered Mike, and led to him wanting to save Jesse from the same fate.

You can really see and hear the pain in Mike knowing what has to be done. He doesnt want to do so, and just like with Werner, he did try to plead on behalf of Nacho to Fring, but to no avail.
The problem is, despite of all this, being forced to do all these atrocious things, yet he still chose to work for Fring, even if his intention is to genuienly provide for his family after he's gone, irregardless of the pain his actions cause others, like Papa Varga losing his only son, what does that say about who Mike truly is as a person?
While Mike does definitely have some redeeming qualities, qualities in and of themselves that are worthy of imitation, what his actions reveal as a whole about him is: "Me first", because he seems hell bent on providing for his family, which I do believe was a truly genuine motive for him, but didnt truly care what the cost was of doing so.
In other words, Mike, and even though he is probably my favorite character in both shows, but when you examine his actions, he is really the type of man who doesn't truly care about the greater good, but rather only doing good toward the people in his circle.
Why did Nacho have to die? The Salamancas didn't know he got out back to "safety". He did what Gus asked of him, Gus and Mike might as well let him leave with a big chunk of money at this point in time. Other than Hector and Lalo's suspicions towards Gus, they never had anything on him, Nacho saying it wasn't Gus doesn't mean anything...
Gus doesn’t like to leave anything to chance. He needed nacho to confess it was the Peruvians and only them to throw any suspicion off him since Lalo was still around and could reappear any minute to point he finger
Lalo was still going to be around no matter what... And Nacho's story didn't put any suspicion off Gus. I guess Gus just never like Nacho and wanted him dead to tie up lose ends but still, Nacho could've easily just disappeared, never to be found by the Salamancas imo. @@sebastianmaregatti
The Salamancas would catch him either way sooner or later. If they don't, they would suspect Gus helped him. So they had to make a story and Nacho take the blame. The Salamancas doesn't trust Gus but Nacho's words was convincing enough that he worked for the rival cartel and he did it on his own.
There's no way Nacho could drink from that canteen in that tight space he was in under the truck lol
There seems to be a tube/straw connected to it

So Nacho was a criminal who worked with some very bad people, some evil people, and yet we sympathize with him and feel sorry he wound up in this state. Michael Mando is amazing.

“Safety”
beautiful scene... mike was nacho's dad at that point
This is why Mike cared so much for Jesse. He saw nacho.
His last meal 😭
Small detail. Mike doesn't recork the bottle. Implies more than one glass.
In a sick way it was his son that he could actually have a say in unlike his actual son who had no choice but to play ball and still was killed
Mike is a good guy who at some moment decided to take the wrong path. That moment when he took his first bribe as a cop back in Philly was a point of no return, he will only go downhill from there. Great tragic charcter arc, showing where a moral compromise leads to.
I like how BCS made the characters from BB even better. This is the only spin off that elevates the original show so much. Surely house of dragon's is a good spin off to GoT. But BCS wirh acting, script and plot, simply amazing

Nacho could have become the next generation "Mike"
Only issue is Nacho wanted out of the game, Once the Salamanca's started targeting his fathers business Nacho didn't want anything to do with that life anymore.

🤓
@@HOTD108_ Both are very different, and both are good in their own way. I prefer Better Call Saul by far, but I must admit that there is no better between BCS and BB. Both are absolute masterpieces.
To quote Vince Gilligan: "I run into people every day now who say Better Call Saul is their favorite of the two. I love hearing that. I don't know where I fall personally on that scale, that continuum - I try not to choose."
I would not say that, these two shows managed to do something no other IP has able to do: Create it's own unique universe in a cohesive manner. Marvel can't do it, DC can't do it, but BB and BCS did it.
These two shows should be seen as peanut butter and jelly. Heads and Tails. Ying and Yang. They compliment each other more than anything.
