Well, he said that in Breaking Bad and we have yet to see the end of Nacho's story in Better Call Saul. So...
Nobody seems to understand why Gus said that. He wanted Walter to come working for him from his own free will. Yes, the fear of Cartel would've forced him to work for Gus eitherway, but since Gus planned to wipe out Cartel in the near future, Walt would've stopped right when the news came out that he was no longer in danger. And that would've been bad for the business.
But it doesn't mean that Gus had anything against using fear to motivate his enemies and allies. He's just smart enough to know when to use it, and when to handle things in a different way.
Nacho didn't even ask about healthcare or salary or nothing before taking the position. Wrong move.
Imagine a scene of Nacho calling Gus that night asking him if he can match his 401k contribution...
The next day he should have put in an application at Los Pollos.

First time I watched this, I didn't notice it was Gus Fring himself who jumped Nacho's partner and put the bag over his head, then slammed him into the car and manhandled him to the ground. You don't often see Gus get physical, but when you do, it's always lethal.

How did he put him in that position? He talked about it with Nacho before entering, and Nacho agreed to backing him up. He could have said no and talked him out of it.
Scary touch that Gus starts speaking while the other guy is still alive to hear it. Then everybody knows there's no chance from that point that he will live to tell the tale. He's not dead yet, but by just beginning the conversation, Gus makes it clear that he's gonna be dead in a few moments.

Love how consistent Victor's character is. He's stubborn and prideful, which is what got him killed later on.

Victor was killed by Gus because he tried to do something who was beyond his employment and knowledge (cooking the blue sky, he wasn't supposed to do that, Walt and Jesse/Gale were. Victor was a bodyguard and a gunman, nothing less) and to send a message to Walt and Jesse
Sad to see how Victor went, The man was Loyal. Even though he was spotted at the Crime Scene of Gale Boettiger, I don't think he should have died. But I'm not Gustavo Fring, I can't see the death of another man as just Collateral damage, cost of doing business.
Between Tyrus' dead eyed stare and the menacing gaze of Victor, you can tell these people are in the intimidation business.
They would blow your head or cut your throat without any hesitation...
He's somewhat smirking; kind of a foreshadowing of whats coming next.

I like how Gus gets his hands dirty instead of having others do his dirty work. He's almost as badass as Tom Neville from Revolution.
Yeah, I think that he does that because he wants to scare his opponents left alive (in this case Nacho, in Breaking Bad he did it with Walt and Jesse, Walt even shitted himself when Gus killed Victor with the box cutter), showing that he can do that to them or their families as well because he's a sociopath and they cannot afford to underestimate him and his men

This is nothing compared to the reality of the cartels.
According to findings in the past years they kill people in the worst ways imaginable including cooking them alive or slowly chopping them up one piece at the time starting from non vital limbs.
I enjoyed it. Got a few good faps out of it.

That's one of the things that's so great about Better Call Saul. It makes characters like Gus, Mike, and Hector so complex, so detailed and so badass that it really amplifies just how tenacious Walt/Heisenberg is to take them all down.
The only time Gus did something because of his emotions was what got him killed. After all the revenge actions he could have just sent Tyrus to finish Hector and the bomb trap would have not happened.
Walter found Gus's one weakness - his emotional need to hurt Hector.

Nacho was a great character. Obviously a criminal, but what of the only guys that under the cartel that wasn’t an unpredictable psychopath. He was logical, and he wasn’t the type of guy to want to hurt innocent people, and he put the needs of his father above his own.

I feel like Tyrus is heavily slept on. His character is just so menacing and monotone. He shows zero emotion and remorse in what he does. He’s also very loyal to Gus and like he said in the show himself, he’s just doing his job and what he’s told. Great character honestly being in both BB and BCS.
While I find his character intriguing as well, he was a pretty one dimensional character. Not much to really get into. He served his purpose well though.
@th3azscorpio That is what is menacing about Tyrus. He is a robot, no real care or emotions, or anything that makes him feel human. Dude doesn't even look like he sleeps. Just reports to Gus 24/7. He is extremely efficient in his work. Victor, on the other hand, has shown to be incompetent in reading the room correctly, and not corresponding to the situations correctly.

Gus could kill him at any point without second thought, just like he killed the other guy. The Cartel is gonna kill him once they find out he's working for gus without their knowledge.
Tuco wasn't as crazy as he was in breaking bad at this point of time. Still dangerous, but not as dangerous as being a puppet for gus.

But right now, Nacho could get killed by lalo (who might very well be smart enough to figure out that Nacho is the mole) have his father killed by the cartel because of that, might get killed by Gus if he doesn't need him anymore, or have his father killed by Gus if he doesn't stay in line.
Nacho is in the most dangerous situation possible right now, a mole for a drug lord that is trying to go against the cartel.
The more I acknowledge how dangerous, cold and unpredictable Gus was, the more I realize how brutal Walter was

Quite subtle, but I love the fact that Nacho does not hand the guy the bag, but waits for him to get it. Kinda gives me the feeling that he just wants to go home, and although he took his gun out, he didn't agree with his partner and just wanted to take whatever and go, but was forced by the situation to act tough

Yea they should have had a Salamanca (i.e. twins) follow them to these type of meetings. Gus wouldn't do this if any Salamancas were present.

Nacho's fate was sealed when he was way younger and got involved with the cartel in the first place.
He should have told the twins right after/after being wounded or lalo at the end. Gus doesnt seem to have solid proof of what Nacho did. Siding with the Salamancas was the better option, when to tell them is another story.

You meet young men who think the game will bring them fast money and status and excitement, and beat the hell out of a regular job like the "little people" grind away at. And maybe it does, for a while. But the stress is off the charts, and they often wind up in jail or prison, which is a whole other level of anguish. Or dead.

I really feel bad for Arturo, every time he tries to assert his dominance, it will be someone who is bigger than him or the situation that he does it in a wrong time, even when he appears in the first time, we saw him try to talk an threatening Mike which fail miserably. Second one that he block the exit of Los Pollos Hermanos, he tries to act big by blocking the women and children until Nacho sending the “wtf are you doing” signal. Then the hospital one that he talk with Hector about the situation of the gang, the twins and Nacho are taking our attention from him. Until this last scene, he gets big off by taking six package that succeed, but in exchange of his life by Gus. Give Arturo a break man!!!

I have watched a lot of death scenes in shows, breaking bad, better call saul, sopranos etc but this is the most terrifying I have ever seen. Only time it’s been hard to watch for me

This character is build up to get revenge all season, he helps a good guy, even almost win the fight and gets his eyes squished and his head crushed while crying like a baby. I just realized at 3:32 that Victor turned the victim’s body so Nacho could see his comrade’s face as he struggles helplessly. He will remember that desperate, scared look the rest of his life.
It's crazy to think BCS was initially going to be a light-hearted accompaniment to Breaking Bad. It probably was less "extreme" than BB in the first two seasons but Jesus....this is probably the most outright brutal death in the whole BB universe.

I like how they put him in a spot where he could have eventually taken the bag off his friend's head but didn't feel like he could because Gus exposed that he had dirt on him right in front of him.

One of the most truly nightmarish ways to die IMO. Not only is having a bag placed over your head and left to suffocate a slow and painful death, but there's something uniquely dehumanizing about not being allowed a face the bag covers during your death. Truly Gus at his most brutal.

This is the scariest Gus scene ever. The thing that makes him scary is that he could turn from the friendliest man in town to the most cold and threatening dude ever with ease. It’s so fun to watch how he can easily intimidate anyone.
He never came off as friendly to me. Always seemed like a rattlesnake trying to smile.

I loved Breaking Bad but when you see the intricate backstories of Gus and Mike, it almost makes it completely unbelievable that Walt was able to get the upper hand on both of them. Gus was a hardened criminal years before Walt started and was equally as smart. And Mike was a former cop that did all kinds of badass things much like Gus did. Even if Walt was smarter, it still seems highly unlikely he could kill both of them.
Mike, Gus, everyone Walt took down, they all made 1 mistake, they underestimated him
Walter was a man who was easily underestimated, but had a huge ego, years of pent-up anger (due to being just a high school teacher while his partners at Grey Matter became rich) and nothing left to lose due to the cancer.
He was a whirlwind of death and destruction that wrecked everything that came in his path.
Their biggest mistake was that they underestimated Walter. They never once thought Walter could take them down which he very well could, if they did not make that mistake then Walter would never have gotten the upper hand
In fairness to Gus and Mike, if you were in their position and accomplished as much as they had, you would have underestimated Walter too. I mean the guy started off as a chemical teacher and a very small time dealer to make ends meet. I wouldn't have seen him as a threat either.
Mike lost everything at that point and never really cared about dying and certainly would have for the names of his guys. Gus was blinded by the DEA closing in on him to remind himself that Hector would never snitch. It makes perfect sense.
One of the coolest things about this scene is the way Victor throws the 6th key onto the table, and it just stops at the edge

I love how this is the one time we ever see Tyrus break character. Look at his face at 1:25. He's almost smirking when Arturo says he's the one giving the orders, like he's thinking, "That's just adorable.".
After watching Better call saul you get to realize how tenaciously clever Gus, hector and other characters like Mike were. But you couldn’t stop to marvel that Walt took them all out.Walt was a true genius, extinguished in his prime.
Walt was just very lucky. Without luck and a big ego he would have gotten no where. In real life he would have been killed many times lmao. With Tuco. In the RV in teh desert. Walter is just an egoistic shitbag. One of the best series ever though. Acting was phenomenal

Gus was a very hands-on boss in both aspects of his business, the legal one and the illegal one, and that’s probably one he garnered so much respect from both his friends and foes.
Sucks that this was, essentially, a death sentence for Nacho now.
It must have been damn difficult to portray the emotions the actor playing Nacho did. All these without much dialogue. Respect.
I swear to god every actor on this show is amazing. The writing is already great, and the actors never seem to mess up any scenes.

Interesting how Nacho's actions led to the death of a man he worked closely with. Kinda echos how Mike messing with Hector's trucks led to another man's death.
