Our Test Corolla also features the CVT automatic transmission. I previously tested the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback with the manual transmission if you are interested in viewing that:

    Part of the reason why the Corolla rides and handles so well is due to the multi link rear suspension as well, mentioned that in the 2019 review as this is one of the few compacts with a multi link rear. I’ve had my 2020 XSE since August 2019. I’ve not heard the road noise even on the interstate going about 80 - 85. The one touch windows in mine go for all four windows up and down plus the sun roof has one touch open and close for both positions.
    The major negative that I have is the lag on launch if you come to a rolling “stop” or if you push forward out of the mechanical first gear and hit CVT. This can be dangerous when trying to get on the road faster so it does require some muscle memory to ensure Launch gear is good.
    I’ve been very happy with it. It does zoom
    Very quickly. I only use sport mode when I’m on a curvy road because you don’t feel anything. No pulling and the consistent speeds through some very curvy sections can be achieved.

      When I first bought my car, I walked in with the intention of getting the SE for the sole purpose of getting the manual. Ended up walking out with the top trim XSE fully loaded, including the JBL. And I don’t regret it one bit. I find it a minor sacrifice for all of the features my car came with. I don’t mind that the synthetic leather in my car is just that, fake leather. But it still feels nice and very easy to clean and low maintenance. much better than those cloth seats that can easily stain

    Just bought a nicely used 2020 Corolla SE and I love it. I am coming from a 2012 Nissan Maxima that had fun speed but terrible gas mileage. I'm a first time Totyota owner. I am loving the MPGs on the Corolla. The ride is stiff, but smooth if that makes sense. I will say tho, the road noise is a lot higher than previous cars I have owned. People have told me this is common on Corolla because the sound dampening isnt the best. It currently has some sporty Michelin tires, so for the next set I want to put on some touring tires to see if that makes much of a difference in the road noise. The other knock I have on the car is it not having native support for Android Auto. I had to buy a spoofing device to let me run Android Auto through carplay. Not the biggest issue in the world, but it sucks that it isnt native. Other than that, I am loving the car! All the safety features, the radar cruise control and lane assist is awesome. The headlights look amazing. I love the blue color that I got. The rims look super nice. I may have become a Toyota fan with this one.

    Idk if any other 2020 corolla owners can say this but when im on the highway doing between 65-75 mph my car always has the tendency to be moving when I don't want it to, like ill try and keep the car straight but it'll just have the tendency to move to either side , it bothers me its not like extremely bad but when I'm cruising at high speeds the car does wander a bit, its rare for me to experience the car not wander on the highway and when it doesn't I enjoy my car just a bit more. Oh I also don't know but whenever I pass by a commercial truck, it'll throw my car off balance like I'll have to be more careful cause ill experience some jolts from the wind of the truck.

    Yo when people buy cars, how long do you finance it for? I am young, 19 going on 20 this November, I understand interest and how it works, however I don’t work, I am planning on working and saving enough for 20% down payment minimum and a little over 20% but that’s after I open a credit card, I’m thinking 36 months, maybe 48 once I start working full time.

  • @EndlesSuffering
    @EndlesSuffering Před 2 lety

    Only thing I want to know is how long would this Corolla last with the CVT? Let’s say I finance with low apr would it last to 200k miles? Maybe changing the cvt fluid every 30-60k miles? I’m comparing it to a 2020 Kia Forte but I’ve read complaints of owners having cvt failures at low mileage and the car not being fast enough.

    • @MeynMotorGroup

      It’s like rolling the dice 🎲 had a friend who bought a new Corolla back in 09 or something and transmission blew out. Others will drive it for 400k miles with no issues. Talking about reliability is a complete waste since nobody has a crystal ball 🔮

    This ain't my type of car - I think a couple of brands do it better -> New Elantra and New Sentra come to mind immediately. But this is probably the least offensive looking new Toyota and the only one of two that I like. (The other one being the Supra.......... So.....)

      @@MeynMotorGroup glad to hear it, and glad it rides superior to the hatch particularly on those highways. Hope your family's well in these times lad. Keep up the great content. I would agree the front end is fairly in your face but it's not so obnoxious to me for some reason, maybe because it's not ridiculously angular like on the Camry and on Lexus products. It's unique in that aspect and I like it for that. The only problem is it definitely lacks elegance by doing that. I think the new Sentra is the class leader now, at least until the 2021 Elantra arrives. I'd like for you to prove me wrong though! If you have any Nissan connections, try and get a ride in the 2020 Sentra SV premium. Would be a breathe of fresh air for the channel too I'm sure 😂

      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 4 lety +1

      Absolutely zero Nissan connections lolol but you're right I definitely need some variety here. Everyone gets Mazda Toyota Ford thats easy and then the Korean cars. Hard to get my hands on other manufacturers i think the press fleets told me they were working on VW and Audi but haven't heard back about that. I did get approved for Honda and Acura but their fleets are so small in NC that i will probably only get 1 or 2 cars a year from them which sucks. Oh well is what it is, I am independently trying to get my hands on some "unique" performance options

      @devongee1776 Před 4 lety

      @@MeynMotorGroup that's strange but hey you're more informed on how these things get obtained than I am. Maybe just a Nissan dealership? They need the sales and the Sentra is a product that they ought to be pretty proud of and it's something almost everybody can afford. It's a no-lose deal for them to let you borrow one even if it's just for an hour of driving and perhaps another hour if you need it for filming/cinematics so you can comfortably get some feel for how it handles, drives on highways, maybe bumpy city roads, and whatever else you like to evaluate. I'm sure it's tougher to draw a verdict with such a short amount of time but sometimes you gotta get your foot in the door 😂 maybe they'll like what they see and give you more Nissan's.
